First of all, man, I'm so jazzed I found my ST1100A!! Now the hard part. The STeed is my car, my daily driver. I work in a "professional" environment. I need to get some protective gear that I can wear to work. My stuff from my previous cycling days has disintegrated! I'm thinking a basic black leather or vented jacket and a pair of black and brown boots that I can wear with dress/business casual pants. Gloves are no biggie, no one will see them. I would really like not to change my boots to shoes everyday, but ? What about protective pants or something to go over my work slacks?? I'm sure there are some other riders who face the same challenge, and I could really use some suggestions from the board. I want to be as protected as possible. Thanks so much for the help! Tim,

Congrats on the new bike, I'm sure you'll love it.

I have a pair First Gear Mesh Air Overpants. They come with a shel-tex liner that acts to waterproof as well as keep you warm.

I have a pair of shoes I leave at work and change out with my Oxtar Matrix Gore-tex boots.

Hope that helps.

OK, but where is the mesh? That photo makes it look solid.

What parts exactly are mesh?

I do the same as Joe, overpants and a pair of shoes under my desk, change while the laptop boots up/shuts down, no biggie. Congratz on the sweet new ride man, enjoy and be safe.

In the pic... the shiny looking parts are mesh. It's not as big of a weave as the Joe Rocket Phoenix jacket.

So, looking at the pic, the panels on the front of the thighs and all around the lower front area are mesh. The darker areas, like where the firstgear logo is are not mesh.

The pic doesn't do it justice.

I think I'm going to have to get a pair of those too. I have the Mesh II jacket and realy like it. The weave isn't so big things get caught in it like my JR pants.

Can you get them in Short sizes like the Phoenix pants... :D

Yup, but you may have to special order them. I don't know how "short" your inseam is, but the regular (i.e., 36 regular) sizes come a bit short anyway. You really want them to be a bit long in the leg when just standing up, because when you get on the bike, they will pull up so as to place the knee pads right at your knees.

I have the JR Phoenix Short and they are just right... I have a 28/29" inseam so I need the shorties... :D

Not that kind of dress! Thanks very much for the great tips, I knew the board members would have some real experience. Gotta get that good gear.... Tool Man

Pack your clothes and change in work. I don`t know where you live put wearing the overpants over your dress pants in warm weather could make you sweat like hell.
I leave shoes in work and change when I get there. Do the old Superman routine in the Men`s room.
