Can anyone who has purchased a solo seat from Corbin tell me what your experience has been so far? Any regrets?

Also, has Corbin been able to overcome the initial production issues they were having. What is the delivery time on the seats at the moment?

Thanks in advance for your help. Ride safe.

LOVE LOVE LOVE mine! Took 2 weeks from order to "on my bike"! My only complaint is I wanted NO stitching at all, which I requested so it would look like a stocker, match the pillion... they didn't do it! It still looks good though... feels better!!!! :D

It actually moved me up a 1/2 inch or so too... really tippy toeing now

================================================== =======

Ordered on 6/15... I think I received it on 6/23 or 6/24... so it was less than 2 weeks!

SheRob -- That's my problem with the Dual Canyon. Like the seat, hate the reach. LOL

I have a 28/29 inseam... I wasn't flat footing before I got it, so it isn't that big a deal for me ;) It's just a little more of a challenge... I changed boots too  That probably has some impact as well... Icon Super Duty's to Oxtar Matrix... I think the soles were thicker on the Icons ;)

Hey Rob,
My Corbin put me on tip toes (34" inseam) for the first few rides but now that I have 3000 miles on it I can flat foot again. I guess it's getting broken in.

Hey SpED....I do have the Corbin solo seat and am actually not using it at the moment. I find that using it I have a hard time touching the ground. I'm 5'7" with a 31" inseam. The seat IS way more comfortable in the seated for 3 hours at a time position, but I rarely do that. I use the bike mostly for running around here within 20-30 miles at a time, so really the stock seat works better for me most of the time. For a long ride, though, I have been putting on the Corbin just for the comfort.
I went for a ride the other night at about 8:00P.M. and wasn't planning on doing too many miles so I left on the stock seat. I ended up doing 200 miles to Boston and back. I have to plan better than that. I should have used the Corbin. My butt was hurting a little when I got home at midnight.
Another thing about the Corbin is that the angle of the seat when installed is about the same as the angle of the stock seat, so your......uuuhhhhh.....family jewels......still get crunched. I developed a seat riser that I'm actually in the process of patenting, that raises the front of the stock seat by 1 and a half inches while the rear falls onto the middle adjustment for a gain of 1 inch of slant from front to rear. So, using the stock seat for me now means no more nut crunch and I can touch the ground as opposed to the Corbin's nut crunch, not being able to touch the ground, but more comfy on the butt.

Ok...I know I've really confused you now, Huh?!!!

I wish. I have to back to work on Tuesday and this would be a great summer end-er for me. Unfortunately, I've gotten an invitation from this gorgeous 16 year old to her birthday party. All I have to do is provide the food, drink, security, and the keys to the '95 Mustang I just got her when I RSVP. LOL

Hey SpED....I do have the Corbin solo seat
Ok...I know I've really confused you now, Huh?!!!

No biggie, it doesn't take much to confuse me.

Keep me updated on the bracket. I may be ordering one of these in the not too distant future (:04biker: Shut up LJ!) and would be interested in what you develop. I had a chance to sit on one at the Honda Hoot last month and it seemed like what the "close" model of the Dual Canyon might feel like to me. The Smuggler was also installed so maybe that's what pushed me forward. I was concerned about the forward lean of the stocker too till Little John showed me how to "adjust" the seat into a more level surface.

The seat is the only thing I still need to dial in on this bike and I will. Once that happens, and after Little John has his choice of my leftovers I'll start ridding myself of my extra seats.

Thanks for the input. Ride safe.

Edit for spelling.

No regrets here. I love the seat! Corbin customer service was good to deal with. Call them and ask what the turn time is... they'll tell you.

Nah. I painted the house blue so it would be slower. :04biker: :) :) :) :) :04biker:

As for the red hair. Well, stay tuned for next week's picture for an update on hair color. LOL

I'm really fortunate. My kids rock. They are very grade conscious, and are both making plans for college already. I think being a parent made me a better teacher and now a better assistant principal. And I think being in education has made me a better parent. Like I said, I'm a lucky guy. Topping it all off is a gorgeous brunette who lets me feed my bike addiction when the finances allow.

I look at Curmudgeon's avatar where he says life is good and I have to smile because I agree.

You and I and LJ have to meet for lunch one weekend. We'll head west from up here and you do the same and we can meet in Brenham or some place similar and shoot the bull.

Edit: Man my spelling blows!

I bought one that needed slimming down at the thighs to better accomodate my 28" inseam. It is a comfortable seat - I used it on a 1200 mile four day trip last month. So much better than stock. Nice workmanship, nice leather. Had to send it back though to take care of a ridge that they introduced during the refit, which they paid for both ways.

Service has been slower than I'd like but overall not bad; they are busy and possibly not staffed for the demand, and I'm in New York State. Service rep Rocio Vega is helpful, but seems pretty swamped.

I haven't hooked up the heating element yet.

Tell DJ that you don't care what the house looks like and to just make sure that it has a good back yard to BBQ in and a 3 car garage so Rob and I have a place to park our bikes when we're over to eat.

Now that that's solved and you're free on Sunday, you can go with ACE and I. LOL

I, too, got a Corbin single seat so I could have a Smuggler. I, too, have the same problems as others...no, no, my daughter is blonde and 20...but I digress.
I have a 29" inseam so I have to tippy toe it at stops ("Stop moving around back there!")
I ordered the stitching not thinking of the matching thing and now I wish I hadn't, not so much for matching as rain water wicking through the stitches into the foam.
Even after 1000 miles, it was still factory hard so I did a little 'accelerated' breaking in. After letting it sit in the hot sun, I attacked the rear seating portion with a rubber mallet in a semi-circle approximating where the back of my bottom would be. The first few smacks bounced off, but gradually, I could see that the leather was rebounding slower and slower indicating that I was stretching it and softening up the under-foam. The back is a pretty good fit now.
Now, the front...I, too, have that 'crunching' feeling and would be interested in that raising modification that was mentioned. I'm not sure that it would be of any help in the tippy toeing problem...but then that mallet isn't far away. A few whacks on the front sides might 'break' it in there as well. I also am going up to Hollister after WeSTOC to have them fine tune the seat (maybe they have mallets, too).
Another thing, I'm going to also have them see what they can do about matching the paint on the Smuggler to the STeed's better. It is slightly darker and more purple than the STeed's red. Another fellow offered a proud thread about his new Smuggler and offered pictures. Sure enough, he has the same problem. In the garage, it looks fine, but in the sunlight, the color difference is obvious. If I'm going to pay $460 for something that is not that useful and is really only for looks (forget that backrest piece, that's only for looks, too), then I want it to 'look' right. Sure, it'll take time, but then that is what this farkle stuff is all about.

I have the dual canyon, and after putting a couple thousand miles on it, now find that I can put my feet flat on the ground again, something I wasn't able to do when I first got it.

Due the loss of fat from the back side, the only complaint I have is my hip bones start hurting after a couple of hours riding, but taking a few minutes break takes care of that and I good for another couple of hours.

I had great service from Corbin and use them again if I were to get another after market seat.

The 1st upgrade for my 05' was to order a Corbin solo. I also have a 2002 ST1100 that I put a Corbin on 2 years ago. The new seat arrived in about 10 days and I am very happy with it. My only suggestion would be to ask for the softer padding. I did, and it makes for a better fit - the older Corbin is till a bit too hard after 18,000 mi.. I'm 5'11" with a 32 " inseam -set the seat to the center position and it's perfect.

Actually I wish the riser would work with the Corbin Saddle, but it won't because of the metal seat pan. When I raise the front of the stock seat (with plastic pan) the wings on the sides that wrap around the tank kind of stretch out to conform to the tank. The Corbins metal pan won't give even a little so I can't use the riser to correct the nut crunch. And even if I could, I'd never be able to touch the ground, much less tippy toe.

I like that "crunching" feeling. Makes me feel luuuuuved  I might try raising the front up a notch... but I think I might not be able to even tippy toe then  Will mess with the seat today since I'll have her apart putting on Autocom finally and finishing up my fork lights :)

Feeling great Thanks for asking. I am having real bad withdrawls about not riding right now. I have been thinking of some lights also but on the mirrors. I want something to reach out and touch someone.

:biker: Well, my Corbin solo came in today. It took a while to get it positioned into the middle slot. After reading the website, I figured out that I had to change the brackets on the rear of the seat in order to switch the seat out. Sure makes it difficult to do on the fly during a ride to try different positions. I like the wideness/flatness of the seat although I have so few miles on it that its difficult to make a true observation.

Tomorrow the SCRC Conroe has a trash pickup scheduled and my back and arm are hurting from doing stupid lifting the last couple of weeks so I may go for a short ride to test the solo in real world conditions. If all goes good I may have a Corbin Dual Canyon and a Russell Day Long for sale. LJ may get first dibs. :)

Hi, I talked to you before about the memory foam you added to your stock seat and you told me it didn't work out and you bought a Corbin. I am looking at the Corbin Smuggler--- just the seat, however. I am 5'7" with 30" inseam and need to be as low as possible for reach to ground, etc. Is this the seat you bought? Let me know and also how it is working out. My wife is happy with the pillion seat and she rides with me most of the time so I wouldn't be interested in the rear smuggler box and would just use the oem rear seat. Thanks again. Paul S.
