Helmets Pinlock YES or NO

Have a Shoei RF1000 that fogs up terribly in the winter.Tried most of the anti fog products last winter with unsatisfactory results.Thinking of going with the yellow shield.Any positive or negative comments from real use.
 
I've heard GREAT things about the pinlocks. They are relatively recently available in the states and not for all helmet mfg shields.

Last I looked Arai isn't on the list yet. But the research I've done indicates this may be about the best solution you can get. I'd suggest giving it a go. Let us know if you do and what you think.

I have them on my Nolan N102 helmets. I have not used them in a while but gonna give them a try. So far no problem. I have to remind myself to close the shield completely in rain or rain runs down inside between pinlock and shield. No fogging though. They are soft so be very careful what you use on them. All I use is a damp microfiber cloth. I've not used the hi viz yellow tint but considering ordering a couple.

I have one for my Shoei X-Eleven and it works like a charm, no issues other than at night they can give you slight double vision. (Package says not for night use.)

I wish they made one that was full screen tinted already. (I have one that is tinted and another clear.)

Seriously, I can fog anything!!!

Even though the N102 antifog visor insert is not a pinlock system per se, it is similar, and work almost as good. I got a N102 and also an RF1000 w/pinlock. The main difference between the Shoei Pinlock and the N102 anti fog insert is that the Shoei pinlock visor has a seal around the perimeter of the pinlock visor that seals the area between the two visors completely.
Both work good, but I favor the Shoei Pinlock system. It stays fogfree in all conditions, no matter what.
 
My Shoei Syncrotecs came with Pinlocks and they've been very effective - had them years now.

But if you wear glasses like I do, you still need to treat the glasses with cat crap or similar stuff as well.

Been using them for two years now and they do work great in winter, especially coming home from Moonshine!

If you get water between the pinloc and shield, I would venture to say it isn't installed correctly. It creates an air tight seal against my shield.
 
Yes on Pinlock. Works well on my N102.

Be careful handling the fog-free part, which scratches much more easily than the impact-resistant visor. When you take it apart for occasional cleaning, don't use a plastic polish like Plexus. It will leave a film that smears when you put the two layers together. Mild solution of warm water and dishsoap works well.
 
My pinlock came in yesterday and used it this morning.It was 34 degrees on my commute and I had no fogging.I had the chin skirt in but not the nose piece.My glasses did not fog up either.Went with the yellow shield and it softens the headlight glare in the mirrors.
 
+2 on Fog City. Been using them for several years now, and they work great. When I can remember, I try and replace them yearly. Never had a fog problem with it, no with my glasses.
 
+ 1 on the Fog City. Works as advertised to prevent fogging; easy to install on any brand. Not recommended for night riding (PinLock also I believe). You get a lot of glare and ghosts from headlights and streetlights

hmmm....my commute to work is normally in the early morning hours when it is still quite dark. Hopefully it won't be quite so bad - it's gotta beat having a fogged shield though!

I purchased a Pinlock for my RF-1000 last week based on my prior experience with the N102 style Pinlock.

I tried it today for the first time. Worked like a charm for fog-free riding. But... the rub is when they say daytime only, they mean daytime only. Especially in city traffic. :eek:
