Have any of you guys come up with a neat clean easy pass placement that works right when you go through the booths?

I'm about to figure out what to do with mine, and any ideas are more than a little welcome.

I don't have (and don't want) a dash shelf.

Carl,
Of course, they sell these plastic suction cup holders for the shield, but I have mine in the clear map pocket of my tank bag, along with my garage and gate opener. Works perfect every time, no problems.

I have a breast pocket on my jacket that I don't use much so I put it there and pull it out when I go through.

I thought about velcro'ing to the top of my helmet but then I lose out on the cool factor. ;)

You have to remove a fairing, but you can put it up under the nose above the headlights. (painted parts)

--OR--

Try inside the black plastic area behind the instrument cluster.

Either place should work fine.

Mine is velcro'd to the underside of my top box lid. Had it mounted there on my Wing also. Never have had any read issues.

Hi Carl! I tried putting the ez-pass in the lockable compartment but it didn't work there so I used the supplied velcro ("Velcro!? I hate the sound of velcro!) and attached it to the windshield on the lower left inside. It still was hit or miss until I figured it out... I have to slow down to 10mph (posted limit through the tolls) and drive through the middle of the toll lane with the windshield raised. It works every time now....

I have been using the plastic mount with suction cups for two years now and it has worked every time. No misses.

Carl,

There was a previous post some time ago recommending placement under the instrument cluster cover...showed detailed instructions and is a perfect fit. Mounted mine there and it works well.

Paco,

The thread is over on the "other" site under Tech Tips:EZ-Pass location, simple install.

I too have tried for years to find a good place to locate a toll pass, since I swap between my bike and car I need it accessible at a moments notice. I have made a .03" polycarbonate insert sheet the size of the inside of my map pocket with my unit velcroed to the insert to keep orientation. I can put small maps beneath the insert or large maps above the E-Z Pass unit. This has eliminated the problems with stowing, security when travelling and proper exposure to the highway sensors.
A few things I have noticed that may affect your decision for how to mount your unit.
1. The orientation seems critical - when turned 90 degrees inside the map pocket, the sensors do not pick up the signal from my unit. I don't know why, it's just the way it works.
2. Keep it at least 10" away from a GPS. In Illinois, the directions for our units state that the GPS can interfere with the function, and I found that to be very true. 8 - 10" seems to be the safe distance.
3. Keep it as high as possible and away from your body or other electronic gear - a clear path to the sensors.

I'm sure this varies between states and the systems they install. 0ur systems seem to be very sensitive, so it has been easy to determine what works well and what does not.

Good Luck.

The inmates are definitely running the asylum. As well they should be. Thank you guys. Again, I really appreciate your consideration.

I stuck the velcro strips on the inside of my windshield slightly right od center. I slap the unit up when I`m going to use the Mass Pike. Works so far.
