Thats quite a bug magnet!
I see them them this time.
Looks good.
I think you should be careful in any skid row area at night... to someone with the DTs it would look like a huge bug bearing down on them!

Got them now....How are they mounted. Especially under the headlight? What type of lights.
I've got a cheap set of Wally World lights I bought for my VFR and never put on. I've been toying with the idea of putting them on the ST, but can't come up with a creative (READ CHEAP) way to mount them.

The lights are optronics, got em' at wal-mart $15.00 each. I used the mounts that came with them to mount them on the forks, through to allen that holds the fender on. I mounted the other set on the cowl covers, which makes them very easy to work on. On the ones on the cowls I actually scrapped the mounts thea came with them. Instead I simply bent the arms on the lights until they took the shape I wanted. This install was very easy, taking w total of about two hours for both sets, including the wiring.

Buy a new (RED) ST1300 - that should move fast enough to avoid asshats like the one that hit you. :D

Mr. Brownstone,
How did you wire these lights into the bikes system? I just ordered some PIAA 1100x's and was wondering the best way to wire.

I'm sure the PIAA's are a bit more complicated than these, with relays and what not. I wired these in directly to one of my two fused power blocks, then set them up on separate iluminated toggle switches from sea-dog.
The guy that got me started on road bikes preached one simple theory to me over and over again..."See and be seen". In that it made a hell of a lot of sense then, at an age when nothing an adult ever said did, it's pretty well embedded in my plan now.
Attached Pix:
Front end has the EC fork lights slaved to low beams for great viz to oncoming or mirror surfing eyes. PIAA 910's slaved to high beams for revealing ditch donkeys. Everything is automatic this way, no futzing with extra switches while driving. I have them switched so I can turn them off to keep batt drain down while doing maint/mods that require power up, but they are always on while riding. I also added H4 ST bulb upgrades to the headlamps.
On the back I added a set of directionals and LED reflectors wired as additional brake lights. The design of the directionals in the tail are a little scary if you ask me... already had a close call w/ a guy who was tired coming off a double shift, who interpreted my left directional (which looks like an arrowhead pointing right  ) as a signal to turn right. He started around me as I started my left turn, we both reacted and all is well, but.... yikes!
I also chose to go with the Givi topbox w/brake light due to it's better visual quality. The big built in reflector makes a huge difference at night IMO.
And on the "see" theme, but off the topic of lights, the Saeng Quicscans are a fine option for added visibility, in these I can see from my arm all the way around into my peripheral range... pretty sweet.

Wait a minute! The left turn signal looks like it's pointing right? Maybe you should switch the left and right units? Or flip them over so the amber is on the outside and the red on the inside?
Where did you get those lights mounted on the rear of the saddlebags, anyway. They look interesting.

uh.... ???? not sure... whatcha mean man. The amber is on the out side...??? Look at the tail as comes from the factory, the shape of the right directional looks like it could be the head of a left pointing arrow... take one average human, and factor in any one of a bag of common variable (sleep, alcohol, dyslexia) and you have an equasion for bad **** happening to U. The extra direcs on the pans makes my directional intentions crystal clear to those behind, or next to me.
The brake lights are EC LED ref's., and the direcs came from a local dealer, meant to be front facing on a sport bike, can't remember the manf.

Ah, I thought you were referring to the add-on lights on the saddle-bags looking like a right pointing arrow. You meant the OEM turn signals. My mistake.
