Am about to order a sargent seat for my brand spanking new 2005 ST.
I see there is a choice between GRIPTEX and CARBON FX. I definitely want something I will slide around on less . . . not sure which way to go.
Which did you get? Any guys have opportunity to see or ride both?
Also, does a red welt match the candy dark red nicely??
thanks, DWJ
I went with the Carbon/FX. I'm told the Griptex allows less slippage but because the 'weave' is larger, is prone to accumulating more dust, dirt, etc and is not terrible easy to wash.

CarbonFX seems fine for me. GripTex is hard to clean but I'm sure it's less slippery than the CarbonFX although I don't think the CarbonFX is bad at all.

I have the Carbon F/X. I do not find it slippery at all in jeans or Cordura riding pants. I also prefer the subtle looks of the Carbon F/X.

No issues what so ever. I move around on the seat quite a bit. It has a nice texture yet I can still adjust my position easily. Accumulates dirt no faster than the rest of the bike  1000% better than OEM, which only lasted halfway through my first long ride.

I just ordered a Sargent with carbonFX and black welt (in stock for immediate shipping). I've been told by another liSTer that the A99 color from Sargent is a great match for the '05.

I have the GripTex version. It's way more slippery than the stock seat, at least with my Joe Rocket Phoenix pants. After a while the material scuffed in, plus I got used to it.
It's a great seat, much better than stock. However for textile riding gear if you want more grip I'd ironically recommend the CarbonFX material over GripTex.

CarbonFX and black welt on an '05 - not slippery as far as I am concerned. Very happy with the seat.

Any one with a picture of the A99 welt? Would love to see it before I order.

Hey DWJ,
I'll post a couple of pictures this afternoon for the group.
