View Full Version : Sargent or Russell Day Long?

I'm having a hard time chosing which to buy. I have the impression that the Day Long is the most comfortable seat on the market (?) but the Sargent is good, too. The price is very similar so it's not an issue. I'd go for the Russell but there is a long wait. Then I'd have to send in the old seat pan so I'd be without the ST for two or three weeks, I believe. Meanwhile, I could be riding the Sargent. Then again, the Sargent looks better....
One thing is for sure, the OEM seat has GOT to go.
Has anyone used both on the ST1300? I'd appreciate the collective wisdom on this issue.

Can't help you with the Sargent seat, but I've gone from stock seat to Corbin to Russell - and there is no comparison. The Russell seat feels like you're riding a completely different (better bike). I was good for an hour and a half on the Corbin, and now have no problem riding an entire tank's worth of gas and doing that all day long with the Russell seat. No rear end discomfort at all. And here's the ultimate compliment to Russell. My wife wouldn't go on bike trips with me before - one of her excuses was that the bike was way too uncomfortable. Then I bought the Russell seat, and now she loves to ride with me. No kidding. That's worth a fortune to me.

Thanks, Rob, we frequently ride two-up so this is an important point that I had not considered.

Had a Corbin on my 1100 and now a Russell on my 1300. Put 560 miles on it in a single day recently and it was no big deal. No butt fatigue at all. A very comfortable seat.

Contact me off line - I have a stock seat that you could use while your Russell seat is being built.
Note: I will be travelling over the next few weeks. william.thweatt@eds.com
