installed the J&M CB in my wife's Suzuki 650 Burgman scooter, but it seems to have an induced noise problem, like it's picking up a lot of ignition noise, even with the supplied noise filter. I also installed her Roady2 XM radio and when it's on, there's a lot of noise, to the extent that the squelch has to be turned to the stop to cut it out. When she's at an idle or riding very slowly, it seems to be clear, but when she accelerates or it riding at highway speeds, there's so much noise as to render the whole thing useless.
Part of the problem may be with the antenna. I moved the antenna cable away from all onboard electronics (the Burgman has a lot of electronic stuff) and made sure all the connections were good, especially the ground, but no joy. Also, when underway, the antenna whips back and forth and creates noise over the audio system!
Now the good part--I contacted J&M and asked for a TECHNICIAN and was handed over to a guy who was, by his admission, not a tech, so he must have been a salesman. Anyway, I explained the situation to him and he told me the only way to solve my problelm (ground looping, he said) was to purchase their kit that includes the radio receiver and all necessary cables, plugs, etc. for a whopping $304.00!!!!! He said this is the only way and they couldn't just sell me a wiring harness or other noise suppressor. He said I could talk to the owner, John Lazzeroni if I didn't like what he said. The guy was downright insulting if you ask me.
Do any of you guys have any light to shed on this, such as a cheaper solution to this? Thanks, and sorry for going on so long, but it's a situation, and my wife is not a happy camper.
