View Full Version : Anybody tried a Givi windscreen?

I'm interested in a Givi replacement windscreen for my ST1300. I had one on my B12 and although it was essentially a naked bike the Givi screen was very well designed and made a huge difference in turbulence. I had tried 2 others before the Givi and was amazed at how much better it was.
The Givi screen is only $175 Canadian, so it is significantly less expensive than some of the more common replacements. But nobody, even the Canadian distributor, has a picture of one, and I'm hesistant to order it sight unseen.
I'm wondering if anyone has one(or has even seen one), particularly the European Pan riders seeing as Givi products are much more common on the continent.

No, I haven't, but this weekend I did sit down and put my own 'wind / buffeting' thoughts together:
1. Make absolutely sure when you're evaluating your own / your buddies windscreen that you have an open road and little or no wind coming at you.
2. Other vehicles create turbulence and they are in increasing order: 1) cars - small ones are ok, but bigger ones you notice 2) Big SUV's - yup those gas guzzlers are pretty bad and make a lot of wind for their size 3) Semis and large motorhomes - these are the worst. Either pass them quickly or, if they are gunning it, stay well behind. These leave waves in their wake for 200-300 yeards, incredible.
Short of a wind tunnel test - an empty open road is your best test ground.

I love mine, got the smoke one, oh wait mine's on my B12s that I can't find a buyer for so I can get myself a St1300, never mind  But it is a quality product.

Not to hijack your thread but that's what we need. Someone with wind-tunnel access who can put a lot of the after market windshields for the ST into.
I didn't even know Givi had one for the ST. It would be nice to see a picture but it sounds like even that can't be found. So if a picture falls off the web does anyone hear it?

I checked to Givi website the other day, after noticing the windshield in their topbox catalog. They have pictures of the ST1100 only. I researched a little more and found that they do make the screen for the ST1300 now. It looks very interesting, has a lip at the top that should be very effective at directing the wind over the rider's head even in the mid position. I have not located a US source, it may be necessary to order from the UK. Their reputation is very good for sports bikes, there's no reason to think they will not be equally effective on the ST1300.
I'd like to hear from somebody who has one.

Having said all that, the stock w/s on both ST11 and ST13 is quite good. On an empty road, I have no buffeting problems until well into 90mph range .. it's the road traffic that's a problem.
(My Corbin seat lowers me 1" and even that little bit helped) ... :biker:

This is the link for Givi's US distributors. Click on distribution; rest of world; the US on the world map; then on the State.

I tried to order the windshield from a UK distributor but they declined saying that postage was too expensive. I would have thought that was my decision to pay it or not to order but they didn't even give me a quote.

The Givi screen is available from the Canadian distributor. I would think it would be significantly cheaper and easier for those in the USA to get one from your neighbors to the north, rather than across the Atlantic.

I've located a US distributor for the Givi windshield. They even offer a discount on the manufacturer's price:

Now I really must get back to work!
