Just go my new Oxtar Goretex Matrix boots yesterday and tried them out today. I CAN"T SHIFT ANYMORE! Well, I can, but it's tough. Will these boots ever soften up? Has anyone had to adjust their shift lever? It's upshifting mostly. If I don't move my toe out from under the shift lever, I get hung between shifts. Downshifting is OK. Please tell me these things will get more flexible with time.
BTW, I've been wearing a Joe Rocket Meteor 5.0 jacket for the last few weeks and like it alot. I've been riding without the liner, and the venting works pretty well on hot days. Since I'm ST only, I wanted my first set of gear to be waterproof, thus the Meteor jacket and Matrix boots, Ballistic gloves are on their way. Just got to get used to these boots.
Thanks for any rider feedback!

Tim,
They get better fast, I had problems the first day too but they loosen up. Even better, the grip is excellent, put your foot down and they hold. The sole is also firm enough that you almost get a feeling like you have floorboards rather than pegs.

Like Chris said, they'll break in as you use them. I went from Icon Super Duty boot's to these... my first few days were a joke... LOL!!! Much improved now and wouldn't go back. I used my Icon's the other day to pull the bike out of the driveway around and back into the garage... now those feel funny

I felt that way, too when I first got mine. They made me walk funny for awhile. The boots broke in quickly, and they soften up more each time you wear them. They're not a soft as my Sidi OnRoad Sympatex boots, but I suspect they'll begin to catch up quickly.

Thanks for the support folks! I'll try wearing them around the office for the next week or so, that ought to break them in quicker. They really don't look too bad as dress shoes (boots). I took the suggestions from a previous post and keep my regular shoes under the desk and change while my laptop boots up in the morning. Thanks again for sharing all your expert experiences! Tim

I love the boots but have the same problem as you after about 10 months of wear if I am not paying attention to it. What happens is that after I shift up I leave my foot up, and then cannot shift up again, unless I remove my foot and then declutch. I cannot really blame the boots though as if I pay attention I don't make the same mistake. The issue for me appears to be that I upgraded from a pair of pretty flattened out and soft 25 year old alpinestars with which I had the opposite problem - ie. did not toe the shift lever up far enough first time. With the Oxstars I guess I need to change my habits.
Isn't the shift lever height adjustable??
