These guys have some seriously low prices advertised on their site. I called on their new 05 St1300 for $11,354 and was told no problem. Then they let me buy the bike over the phone with my Discover Card. I get 1% back on that :-)

I arrived and found my bike in the showroom with a Sold sign and my name on it. However, it had been ridden and dropped. The salesman claimed no knowledge, and I thought I was in for a fight. I told him that I wanted another bike. After 5mins. he came back and told me that a new one was being prepped out of the crate. Sweet! It was, and I watched the kid ride it across the parking lot to me. Odo. 0.1mi. Niiiice.

The price was indeed out the door, and no fees. No hard upsell attempts either. They are a class act, and I would buy from them again.

P.S. They do NOT ship. WKS

Nice deal...The way I see it, you owe your bike at least $1200 worth of farkeling.

Great work. Thanks for sharing. Looks like I'll be calling them when this one wears out.

Did you ever get any clarity on how the state tax works on the sale of the bike?

Wal,

Great deal :clap2:

Did fly or drive out? And did you tow or ride it home?

A farkling I will go... a farkling I will go... :D

The out of state DMV work is pretty easy. You pay no tax when you buy it, but you will have to pay it when you title/reg it in your state. You bring them the certificate of origin excecuted to you on the back (stealer does this for you).

Yes, I trucked it. I didn't want to take a new engine and stick it on the highway for 1400mi right away. I didn't think it would be a good way to break it in.

What concerns me is the "dropped" part, and the salesman "with no knowledge". Evidently they did not attempt to tell you it had been dropped, but you found out yourself, thanks to your sharp eye. Don't tell me they didnt know it had been dropped. It suppose to be a new bike, you know.

Anyone that knows me, knows that I absolutely hate and have no trust for stealerships. That said, I do believe that they didn't know it was dropped. A few reasons why:

The place is an absolute buzz of activity and the workers are laid back. Salesmen were fielding customers left and right. When I took my bike for a test ride, it involved having my license copied and "tell me when you decide to come back". No dealer tag, no walk me to the bike and show it to me, etc.

The drop was a parking lot drop. The underside of the tipover wing was scuffed and the bottom footpeg feeler showed it was scuffed. There weren't any cracks in the tipover plastic as a dead giveaway from 100 yards out.

The guy that dropped it probably parked it with the left side facing the door and said, "no thanks" and bought a Hardley. hehehe The sales guy either never caught the blem, or else the rider was gone when he did and so he didn't say a word either as not to eat the cost of a new cover.

I actually believe my sales guy that he had no knowledge.

In the end, without even raising my voice, I got a new one out of the crate. I can't complain.

Has anybody picked up a bike out of state and rode it without plates? Just wondering if it would be legal.

I'd be very careful about that one. Many states require a temp reg from the dealer or else you need to get an "in-transit" tag from the DMV.

Lots of stealers charge for the temp tag. Abernathy's gave me one for free.

i bought my '05 from abernathy's 2 weeks ago. rode it home via all the twisties i could find....

they gave me a dealer tag and i have been carrying it in the side fairing pocket, cuz i was worried about it getting rained on. got stopped this past sunday for speeding. got a ticket for that but i showed him the dealer tag, my license, and insurance, and had no other probs.....except for the ticket :(
