This is a first for me... saw a :04biker: with an older dude on it... no helmet... ss shirt... shorts I think. Freaked me out when I passed thru the intersection and saw him... waved... waved back... did a double take... yep, :04biker:.

Was tempted to turn back around and look again... LOL!!! Shorts

Well you're ahead of me by one then, because I have never seen an ST (1100 or 1300) live other than my own :biker:

I'm curious, were you surprised by the lack of clothes and helmet (and intelligence), or lack of clothes and helmet (and intelligence) ON AN ST, or just by seeing another ST?

I've only seen 1 '03 and 1 '04 since I got mine last year. The existence of "other" ST's is like the existence of baby pigeons. We all know they have to exist but where the heck are they??

Someone not being suited up on an ST would surprise me. Like most of yinz, I wear Helmet/Jacket/Gloves/boots/jeans - but I am a minority around here. People look at me for being suited up probably like you did a double-take on this guy for not being suited up.

Wow, you poor guys in the southern states are in enemy territory ... here in BC but also WA and OR, lots of silver, blue, and red ST1300's and the occasional ST1100 besides my own. :D many more Harleys and Wings of course.

Guess y'all just live in Boss Hoss territory, eh ?

Here in Blacksburg, VA, population 40k or so, 25k of whom are students who (if they ride at all) ride sport bikes or beaters, there are at least 3 wineberry ST1100s, 2 silver ST1300s and 1 blue ST1300. There's a red ST1300 for sale too. (btw, 1 of the wineberrys and the silver are in my garage, wineberry soon to move to new owner though)

I see 'em all the time, though as I think I've mentioned, I only saw 3 on a several thousand mile ride to Californea and back earlier this month.

Oh, well that explains rob's doubletake... the sight of those white-legs reflecting the sunlight are almost as striking as the aerostitch hi-viz yellow... and I don't mean that in a good way..

I see a fair amount of ST's, both 1100 and 1300 on my various trips. I guess that one has to get out and about the country. The AMA Vintage Bike meet had a lot of ST's attending. I am lucky enough to take multi-thousand mile trips back and forth between the west coast and Michigan so maybe I get to see more ST's than normal. :03biker:

Not to hijack the thread back to sightings and get the heat off Charlie's (apparently pasty-white) legs...

I keep seeing a :03biker: coming into Coronado over the bridge mid-morning... I keep seeing him/her when I'm on the wrong side of the road and on my way to handle something, so I can't get over next to them (or, behind them...).

I think they may work down on the Strand... Is it anyone here...?

Here in the Napa, CA area I see a couple of '05's regularly, and on my commute into and out of SF I see '04's and '05's fairly regularly. I guess the ST fits on the left coast...

Looks like a old thread but it is refreshing to know that my experience is not unique. Bought my ST in April 05 and to this day have not spotted another ST1300 on the road in or around Houston. There are a couple of guys with ST1100s at work and I'm sure the ST1300s are out there but I have yet to see them... Maybe I need to join TXSTOC!

There's a bunch of us in the area. Didn't see you either. :D

If it's any consolation, I had my ST for 3 months before I saw another one. I even went so far as to cruise Montgomery looking for Littlejohn64!

What size Metzlers do you recommand for rear wheel?
I heard pro's and con's about the oversized (180/55) tires.

What part of Houston you ride in?
I bought mine about the same time you did and have 22000 miles on it mostly around Houston.

Welcome to the site!

I agree. I have seen a lot of ST's this summer including numerous ones in Strugis this past week. We will never be HD but we do have a presence.

Howdy STill Fiddlin, Medicine Bear, and Txrebel,

Thanks for the replys! Good to know your around :)

I'm between Spring and Tomball off Kuykendahl north of 2920 and south of the Woodlands. Ride to work everyday at HP but don't have anything near Txrebel's 22,000mi... just over 9,100 on mine now. Rode to La Grange for breakfast, and cruised back through Round Top a couple weekends ago. Sometimes I ride up FM2978 and Egypt Honea rd to Papas on the lake on 105 in Conroe. Last weekend rode through the concrete Jungle of Houston down to the Kemah boardwalk with the wife (hot as heck 99 deg). She rides sometimes now that I got the honda topbox/spoiler.. We should get together for a ride sometime!

I used to live down that way - in Londonderry subdivision - and my next door neighbor worked at HP and his name is Matthews. Hmmm... Your wife's name isn't Jan perchance?
Looks like it's time to put together another RTE (after WeSTOC, of course).

I live in Houston, ST lives in Lake Livingston, We get together only on weekends. I know that is a damn shame. Co. truck has ruined our relationship. Maybe I should give the truck up. No, can't do that. Really makes me look extra foreward to the weekends.

I saw my first today as well!

As I posted earlier, I am off to buy my [used] ST1100 tomorrow and was heading to the bank for some traveling cash. As you might expect, I am pretty excited about the whole thing and had visions of ST dancing in my head. Then...

On little Signal Mountain where I live, I saw an ST being fueled up. Had to stop and talk to the guy. An nice, older fellow who's had his since he bought it new in (I think) '94.

Looked just like the Black '99 I'm going to pick up. Very surprising, as I've been looking on the roads without seeing one - and then to see one about a mile from my house!

Very cool.

Sorry sherob!

Didn't mean to leave you out... I won't do it again!
Nice to see a active board! Hope to meet up with you guys soon..

Just got off the phone after a nice chat with Medicine Bear.. He used to be my neighbor and I didn't even know he was riding a ST... Small world!

Medicine Bear
08-17-2006, 11:55 PM
It is, indeed a small world - made a little strange by the fact that neither Matthews or I could envision the other on an ST. I don't know how many years we shared as neighbors but it was substantial. And I can't recall one single time we ever talked about motorcycles.

Too bad you got the slow red one. :D

Be that as it may, I guess we need to make up for lost time and get another group ride together, preferably on a weekend and definitely soon after WeSTOC.

Let's see, we've got Magnolia, Spring, Lake Livingston, Huntsville, Houston, Montgomery...

Am I leaving anybody out? Oh yeah, aren't there two guys over in Katy? They're so quiet and shy - never see 'em posting here.

J/K, Sherob and ldDave.

I don't think it would be too soon to go back to that Mexican restaurant in Bryan or to the buffet in Woodville but I'm open to something new. How about it guys? Is there someplace we can go without doing time on I-45?

So you are the one! I work at Spring Cypress/Stuebner Airline. There are many mornings when some of my co-workers come in saying they thought they saw me at Huffsmith Kohrville/Spring Cypress. Of course youhave the top box and I do not but I tend to cut them some slack.

I too say RTE soon. I didn't get to go to Woodville when ya'll went last time. Maybe....

Hahaha, Ya know I just might be! I have only had the top box on for a few weeks now.. Go through that intersection twice a day and I also have a black full face helmet. If your working at Spring Cypress and Stubner Airline we should meet sometime for a beer after work!

Matthews what you do for lunch? What time you get off work? I get off usually by about 3:30. Generally cant stay this side of town for long as I have to pick up my little ones after school and traffic gets worse the longer I stay on this side of town. Maybe we can meet for lunch. Rob you up to coming up this part of town for lunch? How about you Fred? You think you can find some free time?
How about some BBQ at Valley Ranch? What say you?

Just come on down Huffsmith Kohrville and hook a RIGHT (Thanks STill Fiddlin) on Spring Cypress
Last left before you get to 249 enters into the lot right beside the VR BBQ.
Better yet just follow your nose!

If Fred turns left on Spring Cypress he's gonna be taking the long way 'round to 249.

They've kind of made it a bit tricky to get into that strip center off Spring Cypress - of course it can be done, but I'd just cross (vs. turn on) Spring Cypress and go in the back way. Just don't get confused and end up at Bimbos :).
