I like the look, though have yet to hear what they sound like, so what is the difference in sound with and without the removal baffle. An also do they improve performance ? Thanks. :03biker:

Hmmm ... using a power/weight ratio, that would be 3-4 HP gain ...

IMHO it is still not loud enough even with baffles out. I like to hear my engine and this bike even with de-baffled Staintunes is quiet compared to my other scooters, RC51, Norton Commando. Having said that, like all performance mods you have to open up both ends and add more fuel to get the desired affect. Staintunes + K&N + FPR Mod will net you a nice and noticable bump.

I have Staintunes and I have not noticed any power gain but they are way lighter than sock exhaust and they sound nice.

They are a bolt on affair, no frickin bands to dink with, Quality is numma humma one to!

They do seem to ding easy, got a rock hit on the left pipe and it left a notable ding, have yet to figure how to get it out and Staintune wants $600.00 Aus to replace it so I just be tolerating it.

This web site (http://www.jackphelps.com/hondastaintune.htm) will give you a good idea what the Staintunes sound like with sound clips from stock, and Staintunes with and without the restrictors.

This is what I based my decision on when I was looking to purchase. IMO they are a bit obnoxious without the restrictors. They sound really good with the restrictors in place and sound about the same as stock going down the freeway. BTW, no extra hp is gained by removing the restrictors.

They claim a 2 to 3 hp gain over stock. I can't say I noticed it but with the K&N and TurboCity fuel pressure regulator I would say I gained a few hp.

Nice find on that sound link! A must for anyone thinking of Staintunes.

Thanks for the sound link - They sound great ! Like some others I've done the sportsbike thing with race cans, and now appreciate the more muted "stealth" power of the ST. But I still like the "real bike sound". Think I'll start saving. Thanks again. :03biker:

That happens to be my ST that that the recording was made from..I didn't own it then, but bought it from him soon after..

BTW, no longer have the Staintunes. Sold them to a gentleman in New Mexico for his ST. For some reason the tone irritated me, so I took them off.

Thanks Dave! Still enjoying the Staintunes but sorry to report a ding in one from an errant rock provided by one of our fine rock haulers here in NM.

Any suggestions as to where to purchase a set of Staintunes stateside? Also, just curious as to the price difference between stock and Staintunes? :wt1: :usflag1:

www.casporttouring.com

$700.00 approx.
Which I'm fairly certain is much less than the OEM eyesores.

Louie, OEM muffs are generaly always more spendy than aftermarket versions. I've never seen a car muffler that looked as dog-*** fugly as the stock ST muffler IMHO, of course

The STock pipes are about 2x the price of TwoBros. or Staintunes. That's why I bought the TwoBros. C2's when I had to replace the right stock pipe due to a hit and run.

I see...Then I'll most likely go w/ the AuSTralian beauties. I also see they are SomewhaT lighter...They used to cost 1k direct from Aussieland a couple years ago, even stateside!

Or go to http://www.piratesk12site.net/ ...it's predominantly a site for BMW K1200 stuff but they have a section for the ST1300...Staintunes are listed for $765 including shipping and you won't pay CA sales tax cause they're out of state. I was very happy with their service.
