Having already posted a couple of times, I thought maybe I should take the time to introduce myself. My name's Dave and I live in the county of Wiltshire in the south of the UK. I rode bikes every single day from 17 to about 26 years old, but that was nearly 20 years ago now. For that time I've been sitting in my cars watching all the different shapes and sizes go past and thinking how one day, I just had to get one again. A couple of months back my wife agreed it was a great idea and so off I went to make a hugely expensive mistake... :) I bought a Kawasaki VN1600 Classic Tourer thinking I'd look really cool. Well, to cut a long story short, it took me about 6 weeks to realise I just wasn't going to love the thing. Nothing wrong with it for a cruiser, but it just wasn't my style (or lifestyle) and I felt awkward and quite frankly a bit stupid on it. So, what to get? Quickly narrowed it down to an ST or an FJR and then just as quickly narrowed it down to the ST after I realised the FJR's panniers (sorry, saddlebags... I'm british lol) look like they were thrown on as an afterthought... The rest as they say, is history... except I'm sure my dealer hopes I'm back in another 2 months for another new bike... which I won't be... the wife and I love this thing.

We're not hardenned bikers as such, more sunny weekend types... but even so, this is a great versatile bike on which to have a lot of fun and go to a lot of places.

Oh, I guess I should explain why I call myself Burger lol... coz I love them too... but only the real sort as you get there in the US. Fortunately with my job I have to travel to the US fairly often, and I can't get enough of your burgers. I'm not talking MacDonalds either... the real sort... like you can buy in Famous Daves in Rochester, MN. Damn, now I'm dribbling :)

Anyhow, really appreciate all the support you guys gave me when I picked up the ST and the ABS failed and I've really enjoyed reading through many of the posts here. I intend to do all my own maintenance etc... and this seems like a great place, with a great bunch of knowledgeable people... (Is that enough sucking up?) :)

Regards,

sherob

If you ever get to come to Texas, you'll have to try a What-A-Burger. It is a chain, but not like the others. They will make it anyway you want it! You want jalapeno's, you got it... triple meat with bacon and extra cheese (coronary special  ), you got it!

Then there is Mellow's place, the DQ Hunger Buster... :D

Good to meet you Dave. I live in Miami but was born in Brighton and my family lived in Warminster for many years. Be vary careful about accepting invitations to eat in Texas. You may want to check out the "Texas Chile Competition" on the Off Topic board first.
Ride safe,
Nick Cross

Welcome to the pack, Dave.

I'm an import too, born and raised in Norway. (man I miss those twisty roads over there)

Tor,I would kill for roads like you have in your area. OK, maybe not kill and the roads up here are pretty nice.
Dave, welcome I think you bought the right bike and came to the right place. You'll love the rascals that inhabit this sight.

Thanks for the welcomes... damn those burgers sound good. Now all I need is an excuse to visit Texas :) Funny thing is, you'd think with all these burgers I'd be, well, big. I remain 6ft and skinny lol.

Welcome, Dave. I had three bikes in 14 months until I found my ST. As far as burgers go, get a Fuddruckers burger with onion rings. Hard to beat! :eat1:

I used to live in Oklahoma, where they have Whataburger also. Every time I'm down there on business I make it a point to have that or Sonic.

Dave (and anyone else!):

If you ever get to ride the Blue Ridge Parkway, plan a side trip to Blacksburg Virginia and visit Mike's Famous Burgers and Pizza. The pizza's pretty good, but the burgers are the best I've ever had. The beer selection is mediocre (Killian's is the best they can do), but the burgers are fantabulous. And there's not a few nice roads round these parts too.

By the way, I lived three years in England while stationed at RAF Mildenhall near Cambridge.

Welcome, and if and when your going to be Rochester again, and its not in the middle of a MN winter would love to ride down from the cities and enjoy a burger from Dave's with you.

Have you tried a White Castle yet, not sure you can call them a hamburger, better known around here as "slider's". One is my limit and then only about every 20 years.

Welcome Dave! If you are ever in Southern California look me up. We have a chain called In-n-Out that is family owned and the burgers are about the best commerical burgers you can get.
