Repetition puts things in long-term memory.

I posted the group guidelines we came up with here on this page. Group guidelines, and individual rider basics reminder (http://www.st-owners.com/forums/showthread.php?p=53096#post53096) I also posted a riding basics reminder that I find useful. That isn't meant to change anyone’s riding, just jog memories before a long group ride. If you disagree with any of what I think are the basics (or you do things differently) just ignore that part.

I posted it on the old thread because I didn't want to muck up John's sign in thread with long posts.

Yes Dawn and I are in with the Red one. It'll be good to see you guys again, and meet those new to Dawn and I.

Got a question, Hubbard Park is where we are eating? Do we have to bag a lunch or is food available there?

Todd, will Michele be there to add some female company for Dawn Fri. night and Saturday?

Hi Carl,
AS far as lunch goes..We will go up to Castle Craig at hubbard park, Jump off the bikes, climb the look out tower, check out the views and take some pics..
Lunch is at a place called Lloyds in Middlefield (On Rt148 just before our turn to Powder Hill Road) which is about a 10 - 15 minute ride from Hubbard park.. No packing of lunch is required.

As far as my better half goes Michele should be there at some point..Sam(My 11 yr old) has soccer practice at 5:30 on Fri and then Michele may join us after that. (Meriden to Lebanon is about a 45 minute ride) However Emily (my 7 yr old) has it on Sat morning. :( .At the very worst Michele will be there when we get back from our Sat ride..

Cool, less to pack then Todd. Also glad Michele will make it for some of the time as it would be nice for Dawn to have a smidge of estrogen support at a time or two during the outing.

Hey, just had a thought. Do we have to bring something to sit on at the campsite? :beer3:

Hi all, time is getting near, it's going to be a fun weekend, sorry I can't be there :(
I met a fellow ST'er this morning at the local Tim's from Gulph, Ont., he said he was on his way to Ct. for an event, I think it was 3 letters, DDD maybe ? Any of you local yokels know of any thing going on in your neck of the woods this week?
He had an '03 with a Russel seat, looked real comfy.
I introduced myself as Fundyrider and he said he recognized my name from some of the forums. He wasn't familier with this forum though. The internet sure makes the world small :D
Have a blast guys and gals :yr1:

newbornst1300 that’s 9AM Exit 10 for breakfast, 9:45AM Riders meeting at Exit 10, then leave for the ride. We look forward to seeing you there.

Todd, My god man I just noticed we are awash in silver and blue!!! Well, actually the blue is almost as scarce as our red. It’s the attack of the “Silver Pod Bikes!”

Hi Peter. A Harley friend of mine at work asked if I was going to some huge ride or other. I told him I stay away from mass rides with loads of inexperienced riders. He agreed it sucks to have to worry about someone running into your back wheel. I did see a large group of Blue Knights heading for the event with their blue and red lights flashing.
Sorry you can't make the Friday ride Steve. We'll save a cold beer for you.

Yes we will Peter...I promise to look you up next time I go to NB. (Next year)

Don't know anything about a DDD ride. Then again, I don't pay attention unless it has STOC as pert fo the name :D

Carl,
2 ways to look at it..Reds will stick out!!
I'll bring the red spray paint and you bring your talent..Saturday morning we wake up to all shiny new Red STs lined up ;)
BTW Michele WILL be there Friday late afternoon. We are gearing up to feed all you guys for supper..She'll need to depart Sat morning but will return for the afternoon.

PUTT won a contest way back when in our Constoc thread he opted to give a 6 pack to the person thats coming the farthest..Looks like Alex right now..
ALEX your beverage of choice??

Weather..
Latest forecast is morning showers Friday with clearing during the day..
Saturday and Sunday look beautiful.

John..To CONFIRM..EXIT 11 is no longer in the PLANS right???!!

Its ALL exit 10 at the diner right??

Also the MAPS with EST (Streets and trips i beleive) can anyone convert to a jpeg and send to me??

Brian,
Same with the Sat ride. I'll be bringing extra chairs and coolers Thursday evening over to the campground..Maybe we can hook up for a few minutes and talk about any last minute items..
Do you have any additional coolers?
Right now I have 3 standard size ones and 2 more styrofoam jobbers..
Nelson will lend me one that is bigger..(BTW he is getting his new trailer brougth to the campground on Friday. Hopefully he is setup and can ride with us on Sat.

4 MORE DAYS GANG!!! :bow1: :03biker: :04biker: :biker:

We are leaving Napanee tomorrow for Lake Placid and heading down into Vt and NH . Just got to get some miles on these new Metz's but unfortunately work got in the way and we have be back home Sat.
Looking forward to meeting you all there for breakfast.
Should be easy to spot all the STeeds. How is the traffic that time of the morning?
Any recommendations on hotels in the area close to the diner?

Are you heading Home on Saturday or Friday..Sorry for the confusion..

I know Steelersfan (Bruce) is staying in a hotel in the area on Thrursday night. You may be able to hook with him and he can let you know where he is is staying and ride to breakfast with his company..Send him a PM.
Also, John (Agstreak) lives in the area and he may be able to help you out with local hotels and traffic report

I meant to say again in my previous post, that I’ll miss you at CONSTOC with your not being there Peter. I wish you could have made it. There is still a couple days to book a room for NHfcSTOC in New Hampshire Sept 30-and weekend. No need to pack camping gear, a nice warm room to relax in at night, with the ability to hang with us later or rest in the room if you prefer. It’s even closer for you and it should be a great time. It would be nice to have you there to ride with us again. Think about booking it and showing up.

Todd happy to hear Michele can make part of it. John wrote me that Exit 11 is OUT and it’s all at Exit 10 now.

Man it’s getting closer fast now. Dawn and I will be there even with morning rain.

Peter I have said this before, it just won't be the same without you. Listen to Carl and make an effort to attend NHfcSTOC. If worse comes to worse, you can bunk with Bones (if it's OK with him) and me in the Trillium (it has a foldout couch). I believe someone else mentioning they would like to share a room.
Chris, NHfcSTOC would be doable for you and Sam too. The roads up there are more exciting than the ones we'll see Friday. Waterbury and many of the other towns on route 8 have hotels/motels in Mass and CT. If you come down rt7 in VT and catch rt8 in Pittsfield you can ride down a very scenic route into CT. Staying in Torrington, Thomaston, Winsted or Watertown would all put you close to a meet up with Bones, Todd and company for the ride in to the diner. The ride down I91 can be a nightmare at times from the Mass border through Hartford and Waterbury, so avoid that if possible. Danbury also has plenty of accommodations available within minutes of the diner. Keep us posted on your plans.

NHfcSTOC, no can do, work 29th and 30th day shift, 31st and 1st night shift, spring will have to sprung before I sees y'all again. :(

Peter, bummer man, was looking forward to getting to chat more than we did back... whenever that was, after NESTOCK. Was hoping to drag you down for the NH ride, but life does get in the way. Anyway, if you ever have a few days to come down I don't need much of an excuse to go run some good roads and show you around the area a bit... this area is a beauty all year 'round.

The weather keeps looking a little better, so I will probably make breakfast. The rain wasn't going to stop me from coming down Friday for the weekend, but 2.5 hours in dark/rain/ditch donkey hell wasn't worth breakfast even in such good company... I would have just waited for some light.

I like the thought of us getting together next summer for a maritime tour, maybe meet in Grand Falls, if I remember correctly that is where kempo-ster's family is,( by the way, how did your uncle make out with his insurance?) Ride down the backside of the Saint John river to Saint John( route 105 and 102) Possably a BBQ at the Irving Nature Park overlooking the bay, nice picnic area with free grills to use. Work our way towards P.E.I. cross the Confederation Bridge, tour the Island, catch the ferry to N.S., then do some riding there, maybe take in the Canadian Superbike races in Shubenacadie, they are usually held around the 1st weekend in Aug., then where ever,( this is just off the top of my head), we will mull it over this winter and see if we can put something together that will work for those who want to come.
Enjoy your weekend y'all.

Got me thinking about Canada. I was up this year on April 15 for my last remaining grandparent's funeral :(

Next year should be a better reason to go.
Maybe I'll con my parents to go at the same time..Bring/watch the kiddies up..and hey Honey..I want nothing but the best for your beautiful butt..How about a nice Russel day long seat :D and look we can test it out on a nice trip to OH Canada..our home and native land...lalala
Think She'll buy it??

Weather looks good for Friday with a 30% chance of precipitation. A lot depends on Ophelia's track.

Oh man, the Cretans are predicting "possible" showers for both Fri. and Sat. now. It's still a bit far away for a weather man to have a clue though.

All the tracks I have seen show her turning east. I hope they are right. Looks like a wet ride up Friday morning though. :03biker:

It rained pretty hard down here today. I have to slab it through NYC but I am going to be optemistic. But will have the waterproof gear on probably. I will have to see what its like at 4 AM when I get up. Good idea Bones !!

Ophelia probably won't be an issue but that front moving through may. Unless the roads are dry, I'll just be hunkering down at the diner to welcome arrivals.

Putting the cheap hot rain gear in now. Also getting my clothes together. Maybe it will blow through faster rather than slower. At least the thunderstorm part is supposed to get done with tomorrow. I guess I'll find out how the z6s do in the wet after all. Dawn has her stuff packed already. Guess I'll try and fit the bike cover in there somewhere.

I'll have some towels at the ready..I also have a 40 x 20 ft tarp with which we can cover all the bikes with..

BTW..I heard from Mongo tonight..He is out for this weekend. :(

Well, it's looking kind of grim about my attending this weekend.
I sent a piece of test equipment to Mexico on Friday, and today when they opened the truck, it was in pieces, having rolled about the truck for the two day drive. If I can get it back in MA, I'll be rebuilding it.

Steve :(

Well the equipment made it back today, and it's worse than I hoped.

The good news is that the techs that I work with kicked me out of the lab. :o:

So I'll be there Friday night! :D

Cool Steve!

I was able to get my bike cover in. We have it down to pretty bare bones for two.

The weather report details that John sent me are actually a bit optomistic putting the first part of Friday as dry and only 30% chance of showers Sat. which could easily mean a completely dry riding day, or even both days all dry. :mcrider:

On the other hand I am aggravated about something. I ordered Oxtar goretex boots, which came through running a size small. I immediately returned them and they were going to try and get them to me by Thursday. I just got the tracking number and guess when they are due to arrive… Yep, Friday. I suppose the old cheapies will have to do.

Know what though, I just decided I don't care cause we are going to go riding!

Brian and I will be meeting Bones at 7:30 off of exit 38 on Route 8 on Friaday morning.

This is the junction of route 8 and rte 6.
We will be at the first turn off on the right hand side. (Heading either south or west, whichever it is)

Please let us know if you are going to be there, so we will wait..
Otherwise if no one chimes in and the three of us are there we will book..

Hey, just looked at this and I'm thinking that where ya'll are meeting doesn't look like it's 1.5 hours from exit 10... we're going to be pushing pretty hard to make it to the diner by 9 am so I'm not sure we'll meet you there if your plan is 7:30, or maybe my calculations aren't so good... whadaya think?

If we're not there by 8:10-15, roll... I'm leaving at 4am, meeting Paul in Brat., VT 5:15-30, then we get off the slab at rte 2 and winding west/south on back roads the avoid Hellford... unless we're blessed with the opportunity to make real good time in the last half, we'll be doing well to make the diner at 9. I missed the chance to get the new rubber good and scrubbed this week, only has 30 very conservative miles on the middle of it, so I'm gonna be pretty mellow if the tar is still wet.

I'm hoping to leave work early, say 3:30 or so. That would get me on the road by 6 for an arrival a little after 7:00. If I stay at work late, I'll be setting up in the dark, say 8:30.

Sorry about the late reply. I don't know if you'll be able to read this or not. Sam Adams is my beverage of choice, but almost any beer is okay.

Sam and I made it home safely Saturday afternoon as planned but a little cold and wet...Heated farkles on the way for sure. We had an excellent ride down through NY into VT and NH and sunny weather for at least the first 3 of the 5 days. Meeting everyone for breakfast was great and the ride afterwards was definitely the highlight of our trip. It was amazing to see all those STeeds and we all certainly made an impression on the locals cruising out of that diner in the rain. You guys really have some great roads down there. Hope the weather improved for the rest of the weekend.
We will definitely be back next year and possibly OntarioSTOC2006.
Our backyard can handle a few tents and it would be a great impression on the neighbours.
Thanks again to all
Chris and Sam :03biker:
