I'm trying to decide which pipes I want to go with on the ST and I have started shopping. I see that two brothers offers two diffrent sizes, a C2 and a C5. I'm not sure which finish I want, nor what size so I thought I would ask around and see if anyone who is runnign the 2B exhaust would post some pics along with what size and what finish you have so I can decide which look I want for my bike. Also, is there much of a diffrence in sound level between the big and small can? I appreciate any and all input.
thanks,
George

Might help. Pic of 2 bros in middle of page and Staintunes near the bottom. I found a good website for the 2 bros pipes somewhere. I will try to find it again and post it.

Thanks SToler, those are the same pics I have been able to find, but nothing showing the C2 and C5 on a bike. The pictures don't even tell which pipe is used on the bike as far as I can tell. I had forgotten about the one link that shows a lot of good informaiton about the ST, but now I have it bookmarked.
Thanks,
George

Hey George..
See if you can contact the company for the photos..
If no photos exist..offer them a trade and get the exhuast from them at a substantial discount.. take pics and be thier spokesman...May be a good financial trade off for you and them..
Nothing to lose..

How do you like your tank cover/bra?
Did you order it from overseas? That is the only place I have found it.
Did you find any other brands/types when you were looking?
I was looking at the same one but in black.

Thanks

The Bagster tank cover is fantastic. I think some other folks on this site also use it. The cover features cushions where your legs rest on the tank. You probably noticed that you can also buy tank bags that lock into the cover.
To buy in the US, email: Helmets@aol.com

How LOUD is the TB pipe compared to the stock (and the Staintune, if anyone can make that comparison). I had the mis-fortune of spending the good part of an afternoon behind an ST with Staintunes, and IMHO they're way too loud for an ST. :(

I did not like the piture that was on the staintunes website..The pipes looked way to small but they looked really good in person..

The 03 ST1300 I test rode a few weeks ago had the C5 Titaniums. I thought they were pretty obnoxious sounding, and even the sales manager said he would take them off if it were his bike. But, they did look real good.
The sound was very boomy, but NOT that full rich deep tone of a cruiser. It was not as loud as most Harley pipes, but close. It sounded completely out of character for the silver ST. And it would drive me crazy on a long trip.
But this is just my opinion (a long time Harley guy).

I have the C2 version of the Two Bros. exhaust. My pal Sam has the Staintunes on his ST. Even with the 'silencers' out of his pipes, the 2B's are still louder IMO. Oddly enough, I bought them used from a guy who said they were too loud for his taste.
I love the tone, but if I were to hop on the ST for a cross-country trip, I'd definitely put the stock exhaust back on. I try to never get on the freeway for more than a couple minutes without earplugs. However, blastin' around a twisty mountain road at high rpm... they sound awesome.
My wife on the other hand, hates the 2B's pipes ALL the time -especially if I start the ST in the (attached) garage when she is (was) sleeping.
If I had to do it over again, I'd go with the Staintunes because of the removable silencer device.

I'll preface this by saying that I have not messed with aftermarket pipes on the ST1300. However, I have messed with a lot of pipes on a lot of bikes, and I have a lot of experience on the ST1100 with regards to aftermarket pipes.
IMHO, the 2Bros and the D&D pipes sound just awful on an ST. THey are basically a straight through design and they are very very loud. The problem is in the tonal quality - they have this raucus kind of noise, rather then a deep or mellow tune. They are very rough sounding and it grates on me. Any pipe with this design will sound about the same. It's a combo of the through design, and their shortness. These bikes need a real baffle and not just a spiral and some tight packing. I looked into ways to improve the sound of these pipes, and about the only thing you can do is to re-pack them loosely... translates to often :-( Unacceptable to me.
After a ton of cash, time, and dissatisfaction, I tried something wild and it worked out GREAT. I ordered the midpipes from the 2 Bros spare parts, and I ordered 2 Supertrap internal core stainless steel cans. I went with 19" to give the best sound (I'd heard 21's on another bike and it sounded like a ball of cotton was shoved into a 19"... not good). These cans are a brushed stainless look and appear from the outside to be a sportbike'like style can. The tuning discs are inside and you can adjust the sound. These puppies have a deeper sound then stock or other aftermarkets, but it is very mild. On cruise at 80mph they are enough to let you know that you have an engine, but your ears won't complain after the next 1000mi day in a row :-) When you crank it, the pipes let out the sweetest music that I've ever heard come from a V4!
In the end, this set up is a little cheaper then Staintune, but certainly not inexpensive. I sold them to a new ST1100 owner and he just loves them. When I'm feeling flush, I'd like to do the same to the ST1300.
For now... off to work or else pipes will be the least of my worries <DOH!>

Thanks for your comments on noise levels, guys.
I have to agree with Wal about the Supertrapp sound. I've neverhad them on an ST, but did use them on a couple of other bikes and they sounded good without being too loud.
