Any Schuberth Helmet owners out there ???

Do you all hate it as much as I'm starting to hate mine ????

Has anyone found a permanent fix for the faceshield not staying in position problem ????

I bought one last year and had it replaced because of a faulty chinstrap latch. I think it may have been an older production helmet but I didn't look at the date.

The new one is much quieter but I still need earplugs with it.

Maybe a different windshield would help.

I am very tall in the saddle, so I'm up in the windstream most of the time and don't really like to have the shield up very often.

I've had no problems yet, with the faceshield.

Bought the Concept in 2000. Very noisy, flip down sunvisor kept getting stuck on one side, too big to fit in saddle bag-(on a Duck ST4). Generally dissatisfied. Bought a Noland Classic-flip in March. Very happy with purchase-half the price of the Schuberth, very quiet, very comfortable, large ear sockets-what a difference!

Tom .... Do you have the new C2 Model? I've got one on the way!!! The C2 is suposed to be a huge improvement over the original concept model? I've tried the new C2 on several times and I love the fit and the secure feel. Have yet to test it on the bike, however.

I have the S1 and the C2. I don't have problems with either one and the both will fit in either the side bag or the top box.

Not sure what position you are trying to keep the visor in, the C2 has a push forward city mode and the S1 has a city mode that stays put til about 90 mph. No real need to keep it open over that speed as if flows quite a bit of air over your face.

Isn't the Schuberth a $700 helmet? For that kind of cash they should be perfect.

The city position actually works great for me on the open highway. Flows a lot of air and stays in position at ungodly speeds. However around town I like to ride with the faceshield open andright now, thats not possible at any speed over 40, the faceshield slams shut. There is a fix, replace parts

Schuberth Part Numbers
HL.5010.01.P000
HL.5010.02.P000

every year but on a $400 helmet that sorta stinks.

I have no experience with the original Concept but am using the C2 now. From what I hear it's an improvement. Depending on the color you want they're around $500. Not $700 but still not cheap by a long shot. The C2 visor won't stay up at speed but it will hold it's "city mode" with the visor popped forward.

The C2 isn't as quiet as I'd like and it's heavier than I'd like but, from what I hear both those issues are typical for modular helments. Overall I'm pleased.

:bump

The recent thread on replacing helmets every 5 years got me thinking, and my first reaction was to look into the Schuberth C2. Based on the comments in this thread, it looks like I'd be entering into a love-or-hate relationship with this helmet.

Since I love my Shoei, but want a flip-up, would anyone be able to offer a comparison of the C2 and the Shoei Synchrotec? :shrug2:

If the fit of the Synchrotec is the same as the Duotec, my Duotec is quiter than my Schuberth Concept.

I had a Nolan and could not wear it longer than 2 hours before the headaches would start as is true for just about every helmet I try. I tried on a Concept and love it. I will likely relplace it in 2 1/2 years once it is 5 years old. I expect I will get a C2 as I have tried that one on and it too fits my rather long square head. All the Japanese helmets I have tried are too loose when I get the front to back big enough and too tight front to back when I get the side to side right.:03biker:

I paid $600.00 for my Concept last year. I don't know if it is a 1 or 2, It is in the garage right now. I expected alot quieter helmet for that kind of money. I value it at around $400.00 not $600.00. I do like the flip down sun visor and I think it is a very comfortable helm. I think all wind noise comes from the turbulance around all the extra buttons and crap that are on the outside for the helmet

I bought a C2 from Motomarket about a month or so ago. So far I'm happy with it, although I think I inadvertantly turned the knob that keeps the shield on the helmet, while trying to raise the sun visor. First indication that anything was amiss was the visor flapping at the toll booth. I continued on to work and at lunch went back to the Motomarket and picked up two more of those knobs.

I originally was looking for a Nolan, but I didn't like the fit for me.

I hear ya! My first helmet was a Nolan. I couldn't stand it. It was like sticking my head into a large, loud cave.

This brings me more towards the belief that I may have to stick with the Shoei helmets. I think everyone concurs that there are certain helmet brands that just fit their head shapes better, and Shoei's been the best for me so far.

C2, no problems at all with it and I average 15k a year in typical Scottish weather. Visor opens closes and stays with no issue. I find it very quiet and certainly quieter than the Syncrotec. My other helmets are Shoei and up until the C2 that's all I ever wore.

Shuberth Helmets Rock! I am on my second C1, with about 65,000 miles on it. Best modular helmet for me. As to noise, I wear ear plugs religiously, so noise isn't much of a concern for me. One thing as the helmet is worn day in and day out, it loosens up tremendously and the hardware (latch and visor) will eventually not feel as tight, but this is after a lot of use for me, in all weather and environments.

As to the price, the only Shuberth that is near $700.00 is the S1 Sport Helmet (non-flip up). On both my C1s, I never paid over $425.00. I think the C2 is a bit more now and has improved in key area of ventilation. The only other differences are the styling of the front chin vent, the top air vent, the release mechanism latch, and I think the inside construction for fit.

I tried ALL the modular helmets and in both fit and finish, none compared to the Concept. I plan on replacing my C1 with another black XXXL in about the next 6 months.

It is interesting to read so many different views abou the same type of helmet.
I just want to say we bought two C2 at the same day and same shop, one for my wife and one for me. Her helmet visor stays put ( open) till about 75mph, and mine stays put till about 50mph....We tried and swaped each other' helmets to see what happens , because I thought the different sitting position and turbulence might have caused the difference. NO, nothing changed. So we have two C2 bought the same year (2004) , the same shop, and they are different.... I can undersatand why you have different views about the same type of helmets.... and everybody is right . Am I right?

I hope mine English is ok , I'm Hungarian.:)

Welcome to the site, Bruxi.

As far as your English goes, it's excellent. And if you had to rely on my Hungarian it would be a VERY short conversation! :p:

OK, Bruxi. My very first Hungarian lesson won't be complete without a pronunciation guide. I see it. How do you pronounce it?

I am looking at the S1 from Schuberth but can't decide on it or the X11 from Shoei.....I have a couple buddies who swear by the S1 as the best helmet they've owned....

I've had the C1 and the C2....C1 was good for what it was (i.e. nearly half the price of the C2)....the C1 is noisier than the C2....C2 is much more plush, much quieter and feels like the more expensive helmet....I'm please with mine, although if you'd asked me last week when I was fitting Autocom headset into it, the answer might have been different!! (it was a ***** of a job....virtually all-day fannying around with it as opposed to my partners Nolan flip-front which took me less than an hour to do.

I have both.

The S1 is a little heavier but I don't have issues wearing it all day long. In fact I used it for my SS1000 as it is easier to deal with during sunrise and sunset because you don't have to change visors. The S1 is also very very quiet!

Now, the X-eleven is the best vented helmet and I use it a lot in the summer. I also use it on my Uly as it is easier to hang off of the side.

Both will fit in the ST1300 side bag without issue.

If you have any other questions post here, drop me a PM or e-mail.
Hope that helps!!

I have 2. I had some audiovox in them, but was not happy with the installation. When I sold my BMW K1200LT to a friend of mine, I gave them to him as part of the bargain. Without that in the helemet, I like it better. It is a little noisy but I like the airflow. I am not sure which version I have. It is a flip up with the sun visor, which I really like.

I have not worn my hemet much accept when leaving the state to enter one where it is required, but I am trying to force myself to get used to wearing it. At first it really bothered me, but I adjusted the chin-strap, and was much happier.

Got my C1 on closeout last year for under $300. Odd sizing, had to order one size up from my normal. It still was tight when new but has broken in nicely. No problem with the shield in any position at any speed and absolutely love the flip down sunshade. Absolutley hate the chin strap (just like my Nolan) give me "D" rings anyday. Anyway, great $300 helmet but would never pay over that to replace it.

I've a Concept and love it. Quieter for me than the HJC Symax was and is far more comfortable than any other lid I've owned in the past, and that's a about a dozen. I find if I have the face shield down I like it most always popped forward in the vent postition for extra air flow.

It's a quiet lid like I said but then again I often ride with earplugs and usually also have the Garmin and my tunes piped in through the Starcom.

Bought two, one for my wife also, on a sale while in Germany for about $250.00 when the C2 was being introduced. Carried them back home on the plane with us... bet we couldn't do that now.

Maybe a C2 will be next... who knows?
