Hi Folks,
At the ConSToc event last weekend Bones was riding with an Alaska Leather seat cushion. He spoke highly of it, and I made the decision to try that instead of a custom seat.
I ordered one for me and my wife this evening, and spoke to a nice lady there, who will be sending mine out tomorrow. I'm planning on my wife and I trying them out at the NHfcSTOC next weekend.
She said that she gives a 10% discount if you mention the site. I told her about being a member after I gave her my CC info, and since she'd already entered the order she said she'd toss a $10 bill into the box. That was nice of her, I think.
If you order online, type in the word DEADSHEEP in the coupon section, and you'll get the discount as well.
Bones suggested getting the deluxe seat cushion, which is one-piece. the Rally special is cheaper, but is not all one piece. The rider cushion is medium, and the pillion's is "pillion 2".
I'll let everyone know how we like it when we get back from NHfcSTOC.

I remember reading on st1300.us that somebody used spray adhesive and put memory foam on the backside of the alaska leather. I found the website for the foam:

They seemed happy with it. I can't wait to hear how the alaska leather works out. Keep us informed.
Steve... beat ya to it! Mine shipped today. My new seat is pretty good, just want to see how far I can take it, thoughts of SS 1K's and beyond  They didn't have a moose color, and I'm too far north for the holstein pattern suggested by Uncle Boney... went with black.

DAMN!
It looks like Bones converted more than one to the flock, so to speak!
:D
Black looked good on HIS bike...
I did the stock seat on my SS1K. Started out stopping with my VTX buddy at about 140mi. By the end of the ride, we were stopping every hour or so. That would be about every 90 miles.
Hopefully, the cushion will extend my capabilities...

Thanks for posting this. I've been considering getting one myself.
Does anyone know if the medium is still the one that fits if you have a Sargent seat?

It should man, my Mayer is a little wider than the Sargent and it'll cover that.

Curt,
I have the med on my Corbin, not sure if you noticed it last Sat or not. Love it for longer trips, between it and the Aerostitch riding shorts, haven't had to deal with "monkey butt". Worth every $ that it cost. :bow1:

Thanks Bob. I'm sure they're about the same. I did notice yours but I didn't ask about it because I was still debating on it. I like the padding in my Sargent but the covering seems to be what's irritating my dairy-air.
Thanks,
Curt

My wife and I used the Alaska Leather buttpads during the NHfcSToc event this past weekend, and I think we can call it a success.
We rode three hours up/back and all day on Saturday with the buttpad under us, and felt fine at the end of each day. I was definately more comefortable with the buttpad than with the stock seat alone.
Brenda's pillion seat shifted around a bit during the Saturday ride. I think we can get it to stay still if we tighten the strap a bit more. Mine was solid all weekend.

The advertisement say's add one hundred miles to your day, I think it is more like two hundred.
I have a medium charcoal Alaska Butt Pad that is almost brand new that I would sell if someone is interested. $30 Shipping included. I prefer COD.

1000 miles or so later... I do find the pad improves comfort for the long haul, no doubt. It also keeps you you from sliding around in the saddle, and eats up some moving space in deeply shaped custom saddles... which is why I'll probably only use it for big mile days, I am usually on good twisty stuff up here no matter where I go, and tend to move around in the saddle quite a bit when I'm playing hard!

Got ours delivered to Canada in less than a week .Great service but haven't had a chance to test on the long haul yet.
Both Sam and I have noticed a lot more comfort over stock but we both find that you tend to slide around a little more on them.
Probably due to us both wearing leathers. Do you guys find the same with textile pants?
Chris

Thanks Bones, we've been thinking of getting some new pants for summer and textile is definately cooler.

Hi all,
Would never have guessed this would be such a hot item. Yep, I got one last summer, put over 50,000 miles on it and got another this summer because I let the original get rain soaked and weakened so it tore when my heavy foot drug over it. Live and learn. BTW the old one is a great wash sponge...

I have this seat cover for my 05 GL1800 and absolutely love it. I am going to order another set for our newly aquired 2003 ST1300.
Makes a huge difference in a long or short ride. I go no where with out it.

I got mine almost two weeks ago and put 1450 miles on the bike over the next three days. I pulled a 550 mile ride in one day and I could have NEVER done that on the stock seat. It's made an incredible difference and well worth the price. I don't think it's a replacement for a Russell or Meyer but it'll do nicely until I can upgrade the seat. I'll bet it gets put on the custom seat when I get that too.
