View Full Version : Saeng add on mirrors
Has anyone ever used these mirrors on there ST ? (www.saeng.com)
If so do the work well?IE: Air flow, vibration, mirror image etc.
After riding cruisers for most of 30 years,I'm having a hard time adjusting to
the low-slung mirrors and would like to add something like this.
Thanks,
Moby

They have a patented design mirrror that will greatly improve your field of vision. They make models for most bikes, including the ST1300.

I mounted mine under the stock rear-view mirror. They help with side vision but are useless for anything else. If you're getting a nice view of your hand on the grip when you look into the mirror try using a handlebar riser. I installed the Heli riser and now I get a clear shot out of the mirror.

I bought a set of them, and tried them for a few days. I just didn't like them. Removed them and now they are sitting in my garage gathering dust.
I do use the multivex mirrors, and they are nice, but I, like you would like to have a set of mirrors mounted up higher. I was able to mount the Saeng mirrors at the top of the shield, but the mirror was too small, and with the curve of the mirrors, everything appeared extemely small, and probably my fault on the install, but everytime I went extremely fast, the wind would cause the mirrors to bend out of position.

Is there a set screw or some-such adjustment that will keep the mirrors' position set? The photo did not show one.
I have the Multivex mirrors in place and like them a lot. I don't like frequently looking down to see behind me, though, so I just now purchased the Saeng mirror set and will add them to the mix. Hopefully, both sets will do what I need.

I've purchased the Large U-Pac through JO'S U-PAC ( www.josupac.com) as we've been doing two up camping and the large kayak watertight bag didn't allow enough room for long trips. In the first hour of our trip to Nova Scotia (2,500 miles) this summer, I discovered the difficulty with the lower stock mirrors obstructing the view of who was behind me. I jerry rigged a bicycle mirror in Maine and that somewhat did the trick. I also purchased the Saeng mirror set upon return to VT. I haven't yet put them on, but I can add to the discussion that the mirror has two places to tightening. The first is at the shield side with a friction plastic screw. The mirrow side there is two screws that bear down on the plastic ball. It doesn't stop the outward drift of the mirror, as I see it. Ride safe. Jim

See this thread for another approach.

Yes, two screws adjusting the friction of a rotating socket. My second picture above shows them.
Bones solution is very nice... uses the bar mounted mirrors for the rear view (clear of hands or wide/long items lashed to seat), and the bikes mirrors angled out to the blind spots. Starting from scratch, I would probably steal his idea and add multivex to the stock mirrors for the wide view.

Have had the Quick Scan mirrors shield mounted at approximately eye level on my last 2 bikes, Concours and now the ST(non-powered windshield-03). The mirrors are great for mounting high so you do not have to take your eyes from the road for a "Quick" look. Nothing beats a head check thou. Got over 70k miles using them and will put them on every future bike. The company, SAENG, is great to deal with also. One of my mirror arms was broken while the bike was in storage last year and they replaced it, no charge and got me the part in 2 days. Solidly in favor of the company and their products.
