Trying to decide on either an Autocom or Mix-It amp. Not really looking for an intercom system so the bottom priced Autocom would work fine. Not much difference in pricing, about $75. The Autocom does have a few nicer features. Any negatives on the Autocom?

I haven't found any. My wife and I have had only good experiences with our Autocom. :03biker:

The Autocom is a great device and has functions that the Mix-It isn't going to offer. Is it worth the extra $75, to me yes. The headsets are great... very clear sound, room to grow and add functionality... been very pleased so far. ;)

The Autocom is going to come with a lot more features but are you sure you get headsets with the price you're looking at?

I have both. Although I have some problems with them, its still worth it. Autocom isn't loud enough even though I positioned the speakers correctly. Music is ok but talking like cell or talking to other riders is not.

This is probably a stupid question, but did you know the talk volume is adjustable on the Autocom? There is also a built in adjustable noise gate. Make sure you have these adjusted properly. With music players, cell phones and CB's there are often two ways to amplify (e.g., the player/Cell/CB volume as well as the Autocom volume). I find it really hard to believe that anyone would find the Autocom (or any of the alternatives) too quiet. My talk volume isn't even turned up half way and sometimes I think it is too loud. My suggestion, without fully understanding your situation, is to check settings.

I have to agree with Kevin... my cell is rather loud when when I have it attached and cranked up. I have a MyFi so I can adjust the volume on the fly... it is really loud. :p:

Noise gate is a no-brainer. I have a motorola cell phone and volume is low anyways even all the way up. With the cell one, sheild down and going 80 with plugs in, I can hear but can't understand.
Edit: Autocom does not volume control and mentions that in the manual. You cant adjust the music volume on autocom. I haven't experimented on the speech level hi/low plug, maybe thats my problem

It might be your phone. I use a Nokia and have no issue at any speed.
The talk and music volume is the same and is adjustable w/the single volume on my Autocom. I also calibrate the output volume on my music player. Plug the Autocom into the headphone jack, not the line-in (if there is one).
I'm sorry to hear of this trouble. It must be frustrating.
The voice knob is crucial for talking with others and listening to music, cell etc. You must properly adjust the variable noise gate. If it is set too low, all signals (voice, phone, CB) will be attenuated because the gate is always on.
Follow the instructions and set up the gate. I bet this is the problem. :03biker:

I already have isolation phones and I'm not interested in a mic.
