Okay, I know I'm new here and sorry if this has been beat to death but ... here goes ...

I'm loving my ST1100 ... she goes FAST! :biker: ... But I have too much of a forward lean for my tastes. Have short arms I guess. So, I'm thinking of getting either 2" or 3" risers to help with that. I think that's all I really need, just that little bit. I actually like the stock bars and their angle so I'm okay there.

On the other hand, there is the option of getting new bars such as the Heli bars. Something like that could also help me with my forward lean issue. But i have never seen them in person and have no real idea on them.

So, do y'all have preferences? If I don't care for my lean angle, should I just go with Risers? And if so, any preferred brands? Or, would new bars be the better way to go?

Thanks!

NO risers, my friend, this is a Sports Tourer ! :D

What I found is that by getting the Corbin seat, which lowered me 1" or so it solved any wind buffeting problems and also the reach to the bars. While still a bit of a reach, I find after 1-2 weeks I really liked this position, and when riding in a spirited manner, wouldn't want anything else.

I did not buy a Gold Wing .. I bought a sport tourer ... but, to each his own ;)

For the ST1100 there is no question in my opinion. The Heli is the way to go. They angle and extend in to so many positions. I sat on my bike and had a buddy adjust them to where I put my hands. I have a slight old shoulder injury. My left was slightly lower than my right side. Supper comfortable FOR ME and no one else has ever ridden my bike.

I have the HeliBars and 1" GenMar Risers and a Travelcade seat. I am doing fine with that combination now but remember if you have ABS model, you will almost certainly have to change your brake line with the risers. I did and that set me back a bunch. I would have gone for 2" risers knowing what I know now, but the 1" are acceptable.

I also had Heli-bars and a 1" Genmar riser under that. You can get a better position then you can with the ST1300. The adustability of the Heli's allows you to get the height, reach, and angle almost perfect. I positioned them so that with bent elbows I could drop my hands down and have them fall right onto the grips. I have to say though the ST1300 with Heli risers is also very good.
