Oil Filter Torque

I have a pretty comprehensive workshop which I've built up over many years but I have absolutely no means of tightening an oil filter to a specific torque. In fact, until this bike, I've never heard of doing this. Assuming it's done up properly at the moment I'll be needing a tool to get it undone and then something to be able to set the torque on the new one. I do have a 1/2 inch torque wrench. What tool do I need please?

Personally I just use my calibrated arm. I have not had a leak in many, many years. Just don't get carried away with it :D

Oil filter wrench, cap type, 3/8 drive normally on the end for torque wrench/wratchet or some have a bolt head on the end.

I'm with you. I put it on hand tight and it comes off by hand. No leaks on cars or motorcycles over the years.

Most of the filter manufacturers I've ever used recommend a quarter to a half turn beyond hand tight. No leaks, either.

Hand tight only ... one turn after rubber surface touches, that's it :p:

Mine works fine, 3/8 drive torque wrench set to proper torque, bike on center stand, cap wrench on filter, rotate drive on the torque wrench to fit the cap wrench opening, and insert into cap wrench, all done of course from the right side of the bike so you have enough room for the arm of the torque wrench to swing between the bike and the floor and then (click) its done. :biker:

Hand tight plus ½ turn works for me. No problems.

Seems to me as though the same mechanism I've used for the last 30 years is good to go then :) Appreciate the advice from everyone, thanks.
