Looking at the LH saddlebag on my ST from the rear of the bike, it is split into 4 sections... The upper left section is super fast blue the same as the rest of the bike :) The other three sections are grey/black plastic. The upper right one is sort of smooth, the lower left one is rougher making it hard to clean and not leave fibres on it and the lower right one might as well be 500 grade grit paper and is impossible to wipe.
Question is, is this normal or is there something here I need to be trying to clean off?
The RH saddlebag is the same with the sections mirrored of course.
Thanks,
Apollo

:attentio:
Maybe it was a bad idea to post this in the cleaning section... can't believe no one can tell me if it's normal or not. Or, no one else ever tried to wipe their saddlebags with a rag.
Anyone? :)

Mine seem a little closer to all the same except the blue of course.
I usually have lint on mine also unless I use a sponge to clean them off. I use Mothers Back to Black to make them look black again.
Curt
Burger, mine is the same as you describe, including the super fast blue part.
I have been using Armor All on the black textured areas. It brings the lusture back and makes them all appear to be the same.
BTW, I'm only using the Armor All because I had a bottle of it around. I have heard only good about the Mother's Back to Black and plan to try that.
Curt, how long does the Back to Black last? Does it have the same greasiness for lack of a better description as Armor All?

I'm with Curt. Mother's did a pretty good job on my '03.

I use Armorall too. It's an excellent product that I've used for the last 20 or so years and while new ones have come and gone, I feel a sense of brand loyalty :)
What I don't get though is Hondas logic in using a finish that is designed to attract and hold onto dirt. That inner lower panel is so rough that even with suitable products, it's still difficult to clean. And where's the logic in using three different black finishes in terms of color and surface texture on the same item?
It's a bit like all the pads and deflectors. I now have the tank center scuff pad, the tank knee grips and the fairing deflectors and all three are a different color black/grey to each other and the seat. Obviously these things come from different suppliers, and it's hardly critical, but it would be nice to have some consistency :)
Regards,
I can't speak for the deflectors but my tank pads (center and sides) all go together.
I also don't understand Hondas logic in using a finish that is designed to attract and hold onto dirt. I'm guessing that wasn't their intention and somehow this discrepency eluded their QC. I'm also guessing most of us have just dealt with it knowing there is no other answer.
