Anyone who has one? I really like the older SHOEI RF900, that has the best shape for my head at least, but they do not make navy blue like my bike (2004 ST1300).

Do you guys know who on Earth would make such good quality helmets in the color of that special navy/dark blue?

I just spent about 500 miles behind a GRN on his blue STeed with him in a corsa yellow helmet. Nicely complements his jacket with yellow trim. And man, can you SEE him. I won't be buying any more matching helmets. Go for contrast -- sport coat and trousers instead of a suit.

I'm a GRN... Axis yellow Shoei compliments the blue very nicely... match that to the yellow JR's I have and my visual signature is very high contrast in most environments... that is if I slow down enough :p:

I have a Shoei Raid II in a 'standard' metalic blue which is pretty close to the 2004 blue. Not an exact match, slightly brighter, but I don't think a casual observer would notice. Can you guys get Raid II's? It fits my head very well and I'm impressed with the ventilation but not impressed with the noise.

Buy a can of Dupli-Color Auto Spray (available it most auto supply stores)
The color is 'Royal Blue Clear' - code EDSFM340. I believe that is a Ford color.

Tape the areas on the helmet that you don't want to paint. Lightly sand the area to be painted with a fine grit sand paper and wipe clean with a towel soaked with paint thinner. Paint per instructions and let dry over nite and repeat sanding and painting once or twice more. This color is very close to that of ST.

For years we've been told in the UK, by the helmet manufacturers, that if you go anywhere near your crash helmet with anything even mildly solvent based, you will seriously impair the structure and integrity of the shell and render it useless when you need it most. That would include any cellulose based paint and definitely include paint thinner. Do you think they've been lying to us?

For what it's worth.

I bought a Shoei RF1000, Voltage--Blue. I like the color match of the blue in the helmet to the bike.

It's not "hi-viz" like my white RF-700 was, but I think it looks pretty good. I got it off e-bay and got a smoking deal ($225 new)

Just my .02

I bought a Arai Signet a while back in the color they called Apollo Blue. I think it matched a Gold Wing color a few years ago. Close match for the 2004 blue. :04biker:

Here's mine. Goes well with blue but has some other colors as well!!

BTW, I got some black Retro-reflective tape and put it around the bottom rim of the helmet. Not sure how well it works but I wanted to put one of those halo things on and it kept slipping off.

I've also acquired a blue RF-1000. The match is close enough for me.

But then, I've gone for years with a white helmet - I just decided to let out my wild side. ;)

'Nother vote for the yellow.

Or you could wait until next year, when Vivid Orange returns to the Shoei lineup. Doesn't match by a longshot, but my RF-800 was rarely missed.

I opted for a high viz reflective silver Fm flip. looks metallic silver in daylight, reflects headlights at night

I agree about being highly visible, but I'd rather put a reflective sticker on it than have the whole helmet yellow...

How much do they cost? Do you know a place where they do them or you can directly order it from Shoei?
