You missed River Road? Oh Geez!.. you've got to go back...
It's the road between Presidio and Terlingua. Terlingua is the town just outside the West entrance to the park.
Guess we're gonna have to schedule a late Feb/early March trip now...
see what you've gone and done.

Joe, A ranger at the East gate told us about the River Road being under construction and that the pavement was gone for several miles. Supposedly the Bentonite was real slippery and there had been an accident last week with injuries. We decided to avoid it this trip since our luck levels have not been that good. Another trip is in the plans but In Feb/March we are deep into the Paramedic class schedule. 2006 after April 10 is looking real good though, I am out of the classroom until October 2006! Lookout Vacation Time Bank since I will have 2.5 MONTHS on the books! The whole NEMSa gang is loose in July so we need to figure out a good hot summer months trip too.

Chris, yes there's always a section under construction. I have a friend at work that just came back yesterday and he said it was a little slippery for about 4 miles but that's it.
I think well into 2006 it should all be completed.
I always like to go before spring break as I've heard it gets pretty hot after that.
But, I'm always up for BB...

Yeah, Chris is right. This is the road the ranger suggested we avoid. He's the same guy that told us a hurricane was expected in the area (Pacific storm). No, I'm NOT kidding. You should have seen our faces when he said that!
Anyway, later in the day we were at the Lodge and there was a TV on in the gift shop. We asked the lady about the storm and she just laughed and mentioned it wasn't even going to get close to the park.
Oh well, so much for helpful rangers....I really miss driving at excessive speeds down those great Texas roads with no traffic
