I think I went to OSH to find a 1/4 - 3/8 adapter to get my 3/8 drive to work with the 1/4 socket I had.

Yep, leo7x gave you the same advice & link I'll follow myself next week when mine arrive. I expect that I will be able to find a set of hex end (allen wrench) sockets for my 3/8 inch ratchet at the neighborhood ace hardware. Thanks for reminding me.
Leo covered the picture part. Here is the "where the he**" part:
I would not recommend even attempt to use regular allen wrenches during disassembly or installation. Particularly during the disassembly, you run the risk of rounding out the allen screws, or possibly scratching the heck out of everything.
Go get you a set of different metric allen bits for 3/8 drive, so you have them for later jobs as well. I would also suggest you go buy a decent torque wrench that can handle up to 200 ft/lbs. Be very careful not to overtorque the allenbolts going through the handlebars into the riser. Be very careful not to force the bolts in,,,,, nice and easy does it, and you avoid cross-threading the aluminum threads in the riser.

I'm confused. Where do you need a 12mm hex wrench? Did I forget to put something back on?

I just installed my riser plate three weekends ago. All the wrenches that I used were Craftsman from Sears. I used hex style sockets with 3/8" drive ratchet and/or hex style T-handles. Everything went smooth and I'm no mechanic. It took about an hour and a half for the whole job.
Sounds like you need to take a break and call the folks at Heli tomorrow. I had to confirm torque specs and spoke to a really nice guy named Ralph. Make sure you pay close attention to the torque specs from Heli. Don't give up, the Heli's are absolutely fantastic and you'll be glad you stuck with it.

Thanks to all of you farkle experts whose advice guided me through. I have my Helibars installed, my RAM mounts as well as my Touratech locking 2610 holder. Just waiting on the 2610 to arrive Monday. I will take a few photos today and post them here...next up is connecting the power cable and running it to the front.
I will say that cross threading did not appear to be a problem for me. I used the Sears Digitorque which worked best for me. Dial in the correct setting and clickety click it stops at 12 or 14. I put some lithium grease on the short silver hex handlebar screw (one was being pesky) which made it easier to thread.
If anyone is going to install a GPS using Touratech mount, the 1.5 inch bar is best. It allows for the correct angle of the GPS mount so that it is vision forward and out of the way of the speedo.
Thanks again to everyones help.
