Now that I ride a Gold Wing, we decided to try out pulling a camper. We love it! Not that there was anything wrong with a tent, but getting up off the ground was getting to be a drag. We slso found it to be quite inconvenient to hae to roll/fold things up so precisely so that it all fit into the waterproof duffels properly.

We purchased a Bunkhouse camper, and it's sort of luxurious. It sets up in about 90 seconds with the two of us working together. There's a large 6'x6' dressing area and the bed is a California king size. Pretty comfy. It's what I'd loosely call roughing it comfortably. LOL!

Seriously, though, it's really opened up new horizons for us. If anyone here likes to camp and get out with their s/o's, this is a great way to go. I know it completely violates the ST "code of ethics," as it were, but a number of us do own Wings, so it may apply. Anyway, I just thought I'd pass on my observations.

Holy Cow!! This just goes to show how often I look at the trailer section. I guess I should have posted some pix. As soon as the weather warms up a bit I'll roll it out front and set it up and take some pix of it. BTW, for you Wing owners interested in pulling a camper, I got a Bushtec hitch for the bike. After a lot of shopping and inquiring, I found that the Bushtec was the most recommended hitch. Costs a bit more, but definitely worth it. Here's the website for the Bunkhouse. It's actually B&F Specialties.

Fireball18, I'm on my second Bunkhouse and both of them have been to Alaska behind Gold Wings. Indeed they are much more comfortable for us oldER folks than getting up off the ground in a tent. I had brakes put on mine after I returned from my trip to Alaska last year and they really make a big difference in stopping that trailer. As a GWRRA Trailering Instructor, I teach people how to do all that stuff at Wing Ding. I will recommend any one with a camper get brakes on it from now on. I am really interested in getting a hitch on my ST and seeing how it pulls the Bunkhouse.

When I had my ST I gave serious thought in the same direction, and ultimately, after considering the type of frame the ST has, gave up on it and got a Gold Wing. While I don't think power is any issue with the ST, I believe weight is and I don't think the frame will adequately take the forces imposed on it by the weight of the trailer. I also think that the weight of the trailer is just too much for the weight of the ST. Believe me, I wanted to pull a camper with the ST but came to the conclusion that it just wouldn't be safe and would be too hard on the bike.
