My non-bluetooth enabled cell phone died (motorola v265). Just so happens I was just about to re-route my Starcom phone cable, putting my phone on a RAM holder on the clutch reservoir rather than in the glovebox.
So I got to thinking, since I need a new phone, maybe I should get a bluetooth enabled phone and the bluetooth adapter from Starcom. Just sitting on the bike and having the phone hook up is rather nice.
Anyone using a bluetooth adapter with a Starcom, or Autocomm? Just wondering how well they work.

I love my bluetooth (Motorola V551) I use a wireless headset all the time and it's nice not to be tied to a leash. Haven't tried it on the bike yet but will very soon. I think most of the intercom systems will switch to BT and loose the wires very soon.

Saw this the other day:

Then you can get the Perfect Pilot with bluetooth:

I am pretty sure the Bluetooth adapter for the Starcom is only for the phone. You would still use wires for everything else including the speakers. The Autocomm bluetooth adapter comes in two pieces - it's not real clear to me what the difference is, but you need both for a phone.
In any case, the phone is the only thing I have to "hook up" when I get on the bike, so this would be good enough. I already have everything else wired anyway.

I use a Motorola Bluetooth kit type HF800
it has a Jack plug so that I can plug my Autocom into it and then I transfer to the car when required
I find it Brilliant

Thanks Curt
I just bought one of the Scala bluetooth headsets for myself. It works great. Crystal clear at 110mph (testing only) I was overwelmed at the performance of this. The volume increases as your speed increases.
Of course I have a full face helmet. I am sure with a half helmet it would not be nearly as usable.
If anyone from this forum needs one I'll give a $10.00 discount for ST-Owner members for the headset.

I agree with Joe on the Scala headset. Mine works VERY good and most people can't tell I'm riding unless I have my windshield down. I have not experimented at 110, but in the 80-100 range there is no problem. With my V3 Razr I can even use the voice dial w/o out any problems.
FWIW: The Starcom unit is just to interface with the phone and does not make the helmet wireless.

Bluetooth is nice (I use it all the time in the truck with my bluetooth headset, and I use it to link my laptop to the Internet via GPRS while on the road), but I'd be real interested in the frequency response range of a bluetooth headset used as part of the bike's intercom.I use a Motorola Bluetooth kit type HF800
