There all quite a few "old Florida" mom & pop motels just north of the campsite for those that want a bed and four solid walls.

My daughter is gettin married a couple weeks after this event. I hope I can get away from the planning (won't be able to get away from paying for it) to attend. Also, I know it's a long way off, but there is a tentative Shuttle launch (http://www.nasa.gov/missions/highlights/schedule.html) scheduled for 12+ Nov.

COOL!!! You can never see too many shuttle launches. Last years was at night and this one would be during daylight.

It's a departure from our normal canopied Spanish moss laden sites with the lullabys of the frogs and crickets creating that white noise background as you drift off to sleep following a day on the bike out pounding those treacherous Florida curves.

REAL bikers luuuhve the sting of wind blown salt laden sea air as it howls through your tent at night and enjoy the morning screech of the crazed gulls as they forage through your site looking for stray crumbs of leftover pie and other tasty morsals . . . maybe an uncovered toe?

Just wanted everyone to have a heads up that this year IS different.

Places where I'm going to be eating are as yet to be determined. I need to complete another scouting mission to check out and finalize. I'm always look'in for company.

Anyone have suggestions for Friday morning, evening, Saturday morning, evening or Sunday morning - suggestions welcome!

Manny's Restaurant is a favorite ride destination for weekend breakfast. It is 88 miles from my house but right up the road from the campground. It is about 2 miles south of Flagler Beach on A1A. I meant to check with them this week if they can seat 20-30 on Saturday morning but forgot. I am sure they can but maybe not all in one long table like Bob Evans. Some seating is outside next to A1A.

- RideCoach: I'll definitely let you know when I'm coming down that way and would enjoy learning about new places to stuff my face. Any of them have homemade pie?

- Mac: Had some great Moonburgers with Terry for lunch, had a great tour of the farm with all the great history and stories of the place, then met up again for dinner at Richards after TLC got off work. Kids were both elsewhere swimming, etc. Maybe next time.

Leaving Casey today, heading for Creve Coeur then down through Springfield to Branson. Probably no wifi for a few days. I'll catch up next time I can.

Was just reunited with "Wolf" today up in Missouri at TPadden's house. Took a 60 mile check ride and we both did fine then left heading for home. Expect to be there tomorrow or Thursday.

Hello all, here's another piece of the . . . puzzle (sorry, no pie tonight).

Thanks for the motel info Mike. I had a nice conversation with Barry at the Whale Watch Motel this evening and I reserved my room. WestFLDon beat me there and eight rooms remain: Standard and Cottage.

The Standard room rents for $79/night, has a Queen bed OR two double beds.

The Cottage room rents for $99/night and has a Queen bed in one room and a futon double bed in the other room.

Good prices for the area and if you double up and split cost, not bad at all.

It's closest to the campgrounds. 5 blocks away is Manny's that's big enough to hold us all for breakfast or/and dinner on Friday and Saturday. There's also a new place that just opened named Lagger Heads that can hold us also.

I plan on riding for most of September, so expect to make another recon run to check out the area early in October. I'll put up specific dates as soon as I know for anyone who wants to join in.

Note: The Whale Watch has a 72 hour cancelation policy which allows plenty of time to change if something better turns up. More scouting to come in October. Anyone else have input here, jump in whenever.

Hey Shuey,

Haven't been on the ST-Owners web site for awhile so just read all the posts for the 2009 FL-STOC event. Since this is only a few miles from my home in Palm Coast (4.5 miles as the crow flies), let me know if I can assist in any way. I am very familiar with about all the roads in the area and many of the eating establishments, too.

Manny's is pretty good, as you mentioned--been there several times. Also very good for seafood are two places just a few miles up the road from Flagler Beach: JT's Seafood Shack and Mad Dog's. Been to both more than once (even ran into Ben Crenshaw at JT's a couple of years ago).

Again, let me know if I can help, etc.

Hey Bill,
Any expertise and experience you'd like to chip in with will be greatly appreciated by all I'm sure.

Regarding routes - Dave's done, and has been doing great work at giving us some roads to ride over the past several years and I know has been working on this year's also. Maybe you could get with him on this OR just come up with a route or two you like and post them up. I for one don't really want a parade, more choices would be great.

I have talked with Dave and tentatively am planning on eating lunch Saturday as an RTE at "The Yearling." Other than that the schedule is open. I'll be over you're way in Oct sometime to check places out and finalize plans. I'll let everyone know when that is, maybe those of us involved can get together on a Saturday. Any dates particularly good for you?

Shuey

PS: I'll be in CT for CTSTOC tomorrow - I can hardly wait to see Todd, regardless of whatever flimsy excuse he's got for blowing us off - again! :crackup

Back from CTSTOC (no kicking of posteriors was involved) and making new plans.

Not going to the Blue Ridge Gathering (I was just there, no crowds, great roads) so thinking of a pre-FLSTOC to iron out details the same weekend (9-11Oct). If anyone has some free time and wants to meet up and assist, chime in.

I plan on being there Fri and Sat, probably head home Sunday morning. Plan on checking out all the suggestions made so far. It's OUR party, so let's make sure we all have a good time.

- Currently I haven't done anything about shirts. If I get time, I'll put something together, but if I have to choose between riding and shirt designing . . . . . . .

My main goals are to coordinate with the park manager for the campers, verify and finalize suitable motels to recommend and places to eat. DDuelin has been busy riding and has come up with some routes for an RTE on FLSTOC's Saturday and I hope to ride them also. Anyone else have some routes they want to share, send them on or just post them up whenever for others to enjoy.

Here are some routes folks coming for FL-STOC 09 might find of interest. There are two alternate routes to the Yearling Restaurant in Cross Creek and two ways back to the camping and hotel area from the RTE restaurant. The one via horse country is longer and has some twisty roads and the other is the quick way back home with nice scenery as it is in inland Florida. I think that we will have an RTE to the Yearling on Saturday November 14th. The Tomoka Loop is a 37 mile many do as a rite of passage when visiting Daytona for Bike Week although we will have much less traffic when we are there. The A1A St. Johns River Loop has some nice scenery.

When I was in Pa for the summer I had a terrible time finding a wifi spot and then it hit me....the local library. As a matter of fact the site was so hot it was running 7-8 megs in the parking lot 24 hours a day. People up there thought I was nuts sitting in my car on a sunday evening using the laptop. It was so good i donated 20 bucks to the library fund.:)

Dunno Goeff,

But I got the wifes blessing..

I want you all to know what the gang around here already does....

MICHELE ROCKS!!!!:bow1::bow1:

So how HILLARIOUS IS THIS????

I FLY to Florida on Nov 4th...and fly back on Sunday..THEN
Ride or drive back in a day or so after I get back to CT!.....

Geoff to your original question and this is all fluid...
I know Brian (Georgeorge) is heading down as well as my good fellow CT buddy John (Agstreak) have plans on going down...I still need to figure out vaca approvals (and wifi access)..
On the table (in my mind) is to be off on Tuesday thru the following Monday the 16th..
If thats the case..then we can leave town on Monday after work..get 5 or 6 hours head start...and ride Tues until whenever till we hit our destination..

As far as WHAT we are doing...I could bring the ST or the POP up camper with Brians truck and a few smaller bikes that will fit in Brians truck bed but we also need to consider John's plans....

Lots of moving parts on this one.....:confused: I am trying though...

Okay gang about that WIFI spot......?????anyone Bueller Bueller

Todd, Whale Watch has GREAT WiFi - personally tested. You're welcome to use it anytime.

I didn't check, but LoggerHeads is right next door and maybe, the WiFi even stretches over there? Might be worth checking out.

OKAY I HAVE A NEW GLIMMER OF HOPE FOR ATTENDING:pray1::pray1:

Here's the deal gang...
I originally could not go becuase we have a system release that weekend, however new info is that it does not involve me directly but my boss would like me to be able to work via WIFI if necessary..(Very slim chance but he wants to cover his bases just in case)

So guys, highly unlikely the campground has wifi, any thoughts on somewhere local I can go should I have to log in??

- Anyone using a Mac, go to the Garmin website and download their "RoadTrip" program (as far as I know, still free). It'll read all the files and works great. I haven't had a single glitch. You can also get a Mac "POI" loader program that works great too.

- OK, I'm tardy in putting up some more data WITH pics, but . . . I've been riding. :) More details soon - really!

- I just checked with The Whale Watch motel and there are still rooms available if anyone is looking for an in-door campsite. Most can sleep two unrelated people comfortably, so find a friend and share the cost if you want.

Hi Everyone,
Shuey asked me to put together a relatively short ride for Friday and I have attached my suggested route in both .gdb and .gpx formats. It begins and ends at the Whale Watch motel. Leaving the Whale Watch the route heads north up A1A to Marineland and Fort Matanzas at the Matanzas Inlet, then on up to The Oasis restaurant on the south side of St. Augustine. Without any stops it's about 35 minutes from the Whale Watch to The Oasis. They serve a really good breakfast and cater to bikers (I hearily recommend their Eggs Benedict, by the way.).

After breakfast or continueing north on A1A the ride goes close to the St. Augustine lighthouse, across the river and into old St. Augustine to the Castillo de San Marcos (the oldest fort in the USA). There is a parking lot there (a pay lot) and I recommend a tour of the fort ($7.50 I think it was) and a walk down the oldest street in the USA, St. George's Street right across from the fort.

When lunch time comes, if you are still there, many different types of restaurants and shops are on St. George's Street.

When you are ready to leave, there are a couple of options, continue the route as mapped heading west over to the St. John's river, stopping at the Riverdale Park (a very small park on the St. John's) for a break, then heading on down to Palm Coast (where I live) through the country and working south down and east back to A1A a few miles south of the Whale Watch and Gamble Rogers Park.

Or, you can always just head back down south on A1A to the Whale Watch, Flagler Beach or wherever. The route as mapped is approximately 117 miles long and not counting any stops is shown as two hours and thirty-eight minutes.

I wish I could be there to lead it for whomever rides it, but I have to work on Friday. I will come over Friday evening and hook up with everyone and attend the full day on Saturday and Sunday.

Drop me an email, a text or call me if you have any questions. My cell is 386-569-0666 and my email is bfisher003@cfl.rr.com. I am also listed in the RAN listing.

Have fun! I look forward to seeing you all again!! Ride Safe!

Great job Bill, thanks.

Both file formats open fine in Garmin RoadTrip on my Mac. It'll be a good choice for anyone who wants to relax and partake in some history on Friday - or . . . whenever!

PS: All of Dave's routes also opened without problems in RoadTrip.

One note on Dave's "A1A to St. John's River Loop" route--Old Kings Highway (by the way this is an extremely historic road in FL going back centuries) is closed between Palm Coast Parkway and route 100. The alternative would be to use the route I posted (almost identical to Dave's)--instead of turning right on Old Kings Highway in Palm Coast, go to the next road (Colbert Lane) and turn right there. When you get to 100 turn right and then left onto Old Kings Highway in a couple of miles or so.

Decent places to eat in the Flagler Beach area are:
1. Manny's (decent food at reasonable prices)
2. Blue (a bit more expensive I'm told--never been there myself)
3. Fisherman's Net
4. Flagler Pier Restaurant
5. Golden Lion (excellent Mojitos and their fish sandwich is excellent)
6. A1A Burrito (great burritos)
7. Flagler Fish Market (excellent, but pricey)
8. For ice cream go to Sally's about a block north of 100 on A1A
9. Finn's (I've never been there, but know people who have and they say it's good.
10. Martin's (I was told about this place by an airline ticket agent in Denver!) I have never personally eaten there, but my wife and were going to a week ago, but the place was jammed packed with a 45 minute wait. I figure it MUST be good.)

There are several more places, but these should get you started. I will add that because there are so many motorcyclists who either live here or visit here for Bike Week and Biketoberfest, all of these places are extremely biker friendly.

Since I only live a few miles (4.5 as the crow flies) from Flagler Beach you might guess I'm pretty familiar with the area, so please do not hesitate to call me if you have questions, need anything checked out or get lost while riding (LOL). My cell is 386-569-0666 and it's a BlackBerry with full text and email (email is bfisher003@cfl.rr.com).

I'm sure you are checking the weather, but it's been running pretty warm for this time of the year down here. It's 84 dg and sunny as I type this. Gets a bit cooler in the evenings, of course, but not a lot cooler. If you are camping at Gamble Rogers which is right on the coast, expect seabreazes almost all the time. I will post a weather update mid-week before the event.

See you Friday everning. Anyone know where dinner is going to be Friday?

Here is another loop route in both .gdb and .gpx formats that goes from the Whale Watch Motel down through Daytona Beach on A1A then on down to Merritt Island. I have put a waypoint called "Manatee Viewing" by the Haulover Canal although I think it may still be too early for seeing Manatees) and another waypoint on Merritt Island where you have to turn right to go into Titusville because the road is blocked (guard house). Turning left at this point will take you to the Cape Canaveral National Seashore (by the way, if you come into this from the Oak Hill area (a different route) there is a public legal nude beach (no, I've never been there, yet....).

On from here will go into Titusville and back onto the Cape to the Cape Kennedy Visitor center. There should be good views of the shuttle out on the pad from several places along this route, although it will be several miles away.

The route back is on Interstate 95--just a quick dash back to the Whale Watch. Total loop is 167 miles and estimated time without any stops is three hours and twenty-two miles.

I will be happy to lead this ride on Saturday or Sunday if anyone is interested. Again, contact me if you have any questions. My phone and email addresses are in my post above.

Ride Safe!

Not according to the signs.

There is also a real neat dirt road through the wildlife refuge. 5 or 10 mph though. Lots of gators and birds. Called "Biolab Road". It's worth seeing if you haven't seen it. Can see the cape across the marsh.

Thanks Bill for catching the closure of Old Kings between 100 and Palm Coast. Is it really closed completely now? A month or so ago when I went through there northbound the road was barricaded closed at 100 but I could easily ride my ST1300 across the place they are working on the road a short distance north of 100.

Another great place to watch manatees was at the Titusville city marina and the commercial marina next door (Westland Marina?) People would leave water hoses or faucets on a fast drip and they would crowd up under the docks to drink the city water.

No kidding? I guess maybe they may have made a change about the nude beach. There was an article about it 2-3 years ago in the Daytona newspaper and it was nude then, but I don't remember exactly which beach it was. Hey Dave. All I know is that it is barricaded, or at least it was a week or so ago when I headed south down Old Kings from Palm Coast and had to turn around and go back. I didn't try to ride around the barricade though. You know how ST1300s don't like dirt roads... Since I live so close I'm probably just going to sleep at home, but I'll be there Friday evening, all day Saturday and Sunday. Should be fun. Looking forward to seeing you.

I didn't know about the Manatees being in Titusville, but it sure makes sense. Do you think it's too early for them? I was thinking about putting a route up for Blue Springs State Park--man, they congregate there by the dozens!! I just figure with all this warm weather they probably haven't congregated yet. What do you think?

Skunkape

When Maxified typed "select the map" that means the file you downloaded, e.g. St Augustine Loop Ride.gdb.

After you do that you'll see a new line of text in the upper left window of RoadTrip saying something like "Recently read from Augustine Loop Ride.gpx" or ". . . gdb" whichever you imported.

Click on it and it will highlight AND the box below it should now show several points of interest and a route (green sideways "V" pointing to the left is the route).

Pick that line "St Augustine Loop Ride" for example, leave it highlighted, then at the very bottom right corner of that box, click on the text to "Show On Map" and you should see the route on the map to the right.

If you get that far, I'd recommend going back to the File menu, select "Create New Folder" and name it FLSTOC '09 or something and hit Enter. The new folder will appear in the list, upper right section. Reselect "Recently read from Augustine . . ." again which will return the list to the bottom left box. Pick the top line, hold the shift key and pick the bottom line, all should be highlighted. (release all keys) Now pick, hold mouse button down and drag the list to your new FLSTOC '09 folder and . . . voila your done. Any other files you download, just copy them to this folder and all your FLSTOC files will be on one place - ready to go.

If that doesn't work, call me and I'll see if we can figure it out. h: (850) 897-2544.

I think I'll ride to Flagler then ride half the Manny's to Yearling route to Palatka then head up SR13 past where I saw you the last time - in Riverdale Park I believe it was. That's on my way home.

I had planned on staying Friday night FLSTOC but riding back home after Saturday's ride. I'll probably do the RTE to the Yearling on Saturday. We shall see.

Hope it cools off some in the next two weeks. :rolleyes:The routes are given as suggestions to visitors to the area and could be ridden solo, in small groups, larger groups, or ignored completely according to what you want to do and feel comfortable doing. We have two routes to Saturday's lunch in case we had a large group that wanted to ride to that lunch. In that case we could break into two groups arriving a few minutes apart at the Yearling. I can lead on ride on Saturday - I plan on going to the Yearling the long way. After lunch there are two routes back to the area of the campground and motels. One is longer and takes in horse country roads and the other is shorter and more direct. I'll probably take the long way back.

I vote for Cherry Pie or Chocolate!! :-)

Looks like you guys have another good one planned. Sorry I'm gonna miss it. Left fork seal is leaking severely, but that doesn't help the fact that I don't have vacation time left to make this trip. This hasn't been a good riding year for me.
You guys enjoy it for me. Thanks Shuey, I know it will be another success.

Gordon

Sorry to hear you won't be here, Gordon. We're sure going to miss you!! Get that fork fixed and get back to riding!

Route from Whale Watch Motel to the Bob Evans in Palm Coast and two different routes back to A1A, one for those going north to St. Augustine to pick up the St. Augustine route I posted a few days ago and the other for those going south down A1A to Cape Canaveral. All 3 routes are in the same file and I have included both formats again.

If you are in a bigger hurry to get to Bob Evans, just go west (away from the ocean) on route 100 (by Finn's in Flagler Beach) and turn right onto I-95 north, then get off at the next exit (Palm Coast Parkway). Turn left, go over I-95 and take the right by the Shell Station, then another right and you will see BoB Evans.

As always, contact me if you have any questions. I posted my phone and email in an earlier post.

Look forward to seeing you all soon! Ride safe!

ParkerBill caught a mistake on the route titled A1A to St Johns River Loop. Old Kings Road between Palm Coast Parkway and SR 100 (Moody Blvd) is undergoing widening and is closed. I revised the route using Bill's suggestion and include it here titled A1A to St Johns River Loop1.

If you downloaded the first one I suggest deleting it in favor of the Loop1 version.

Hey Dave, I wouldn't say it's a mistake--it's a good route, just barricaded for some road work. :):cool:

I rode to Palm Coast Sunday and ate a Manny's then rode half the RTE route to Palatka thence up 13 to Jax. I passed a 2006 ST southbound on 13 around 10:30 or 11 AM. Was that you?

No, not me, Dave. I didn't get out to ride this past weekend--bad toothache.. By the way, maybe you don't remember, but my headlamps have one white and one yellow and so far I have not seen another ST1300 with my set up anywhere. So, I'd feel pretty safe in saying if you see my headlight combination on an '06 ST anywhere around here it's me. :-))))

By the way, I've had the combination in for right at two years now and that includes 2-3 2K+ mile trips and I have yet to have any car pull out or turn left in front of me!!! I don't rely on that, of course; just reporting my experience with the weird light combination. :-)

Brian, John, and anyone else needing info when they arrive in the Flagler area (or before . . . or . . . just bored . . . whatever), just give me a call.

I should have the combo for the campground gate lock up by Tuesday. But if you don't get it in time, give me a call whenever and I'll provide assistance as needed.

The Whale Watch motel is on the North side of the park on a1a and I expect to be there by around 3pm or so. I'll either be there or at the campground waiting to welcome one and all!

I've reserved and paid for the sites. They won't show up as "available" because . . . I've got them. On Monday I'll finalize expedited check in (through me) and then post everything up.

First come, first served at the sites I've reserved and you just pay me. Right now it's $15/night which includes firewood delivered to the site. Check Post #1 for updates and all info that's current.

Looking forward to see you there. As long as the weather cooperates (I think it will) the sunrises are spectacular.

Probably too little too late, but here are some roads we enjoy (I live in Deltona), and a route to the Yearling with a different return loop. I plan and lead our rides for my group. We describe our pace as spirited or brisk.

File formats are .gdb and .gpx., created using MapSource v6.15.6

I plan on trying to ride with you guys Saturday, possibly dinner on Friday (work & time permitting on Friday). It will be tough to top the mountain riding we experienced in Cruso last month.

I know most of the “Florida twisties” within 100 miles of my house.

Let me know if you need any help, someone to lead this route, etc…I am sure I can set a pace on these roads that will keep everyone’s interest.

Any mechanical problems, my garage is available to get you back on the road.

Looks great to me and if you're at breakfast on Sat and want to lead your route, I'm sure there will be some takers and I'm all for it. Smaller groups are better for everyone in my opinion.

Some will want a more spirited ride, some will want less of one to better enjoy the scenery. My goal is everyone gets to meet up at the Yearling about 12:30ish, give or take for some tire kicking and good grub.

See ya there, thanks for jumping in.

Latest Weather Report from The Weather Channel for this week, for what it's worth.

Tuesday, 11/10: 81/66 dg, cloudy, 70% chance of rain
Wednesday, 11/12: 72/55 dg, partly sunny, 30% chance of rain
Thursday, 11/13: 69/54 dg, partly sunny, 30% chance of rain
Friday, 11/14: 74/57 dg, partly sunny, 10% chance of rain
Saturday, 11/15: 77/63 dg, partly sunny, 20% chance of rain
Sunday, 11/16: 78/63 dg, mostly sunny, 20% chance of rain

As it's been running lately in this area--30% or less chance of rain will mostly mean it will not rain (knock on wood), but then you never know, it is Florida afterall. Typically speaking, the weather this time of the year is that the days start out mostly sunny, then get clouds drifting over and increasing, then thinning out later in the day. We have not been getting much rain at all in the Palm Coast area (4.5 miles west as the crow flies from Flagler Beach to my house).

I'll update again tomorrow.

Ride safe!

I called Mac and Shuey to see if they'd still be up if I continued on down the last few hundred miles. I was able to push my big, fat A** the whole 1016 miles in 15:20. Then Shuey asks if I need a spot to pass out. I accepted. Now I am a Whale Watcher customer. Looks like I drove a pick-up and loaded it full judging from how many Sq. Ft. I'm taking up here in Shuey's room.

Mac, I'll ask you how you slept in the morning. If it wasn't so good, I made rsvp before I left town for a Quality Inn for $36.99/night - Thu, Fri and Sat. You're welcome to half the room if you need a snakeless resting spot.

I wouldn't be too surprised if there was some practical joker amongst this gang willing to use the snake as the butt of the joke.

It's 12:21 here. Up since 3:20. G'night JohnBoy...........G'night MaryEllen.

It was a nice afternoon and early evening, but rain has arrived - nice steady drizzle and with it our first STOC crasher :22yikes: - Dinky Diesel, on a straight run down from St Louis. Called Mac and I at dinner look'in for a place to stay - no problem, he's now loading out into the Wolfe Shangri La (aka Whale Watch #9).

Sounds like I saw Georgeorge and AgSTreak heading south on 95 today around 4:40 in the afternoon. They had just crossed over the border into FL. Whoever it was, it was 2 silver ST1300s, one towing a black trailer, and the driver of the other was wearing a yellow jacket, I think.

It's firm - PIE at the Whale Watch on Saturday after dinner at Lagerheads. We'll finish up what is expected to be a perfect day, in the 80s and clear, and a great ride and lunch at The Yearling.

Come join us around the fire at the Whale Watch and visit with friends while satiating your palate with:
Pumpkin
Key Lime
Apple w/crumb top crust
and . . . Banana Cream pies.

Shuey & Everyone who made to FL-STOC 2009: sometime in the last
few days I've either badly sprained or broken a bone in my left ankle

It, at least not without severe pain. As a result I cannot safely ride my ST to our event, one I have looked forward to for a year!

If I can walk on it a little in the morning I'll maybe drive over

Lot's of fun today. Some headed South and checked out all the MC stores at Destination Daytona and the Daytona area, many went to St Augustine to take in some history and some just went for a ride.

Rick, Bill and I went on the St John's Loop, a nice picturesque, short run that took us through St Augustine. As we headed West, Bill was having trouble controlling his STeed and after stopping along the road discovered the tire valve was broken on the front tire.

A friendly neighbor let us work in his paved driveway and lent a car jack and tools as needed. Tire came off and strapped on my bike, while Bill got to ride on the back of Rick's STeed . . . a first time pillion rider (Bill says he absolutely did not ride ***** because he rode side-saddle!).

First shop we found was an HD dealership only 3 1/2 miles away, but, no luck, nothing that would fit. We were getting some strange looks with 2 prime STeeds parked up front, you know, looks that said "Why haven't you guys left yet.

Went on down the road to a Honda dealer who took care of the tire in short order, great support at the dealership in St. Augustine (sorry I don't remember the name). rperonel met up with us there and joined in for the rest of the beautiful afternoon's ride after we got back and fixed the tire.

A great day for all and a better one to come tomorrow. Anyone else wants to join in, come on - you're invited.

They go on different rides, today they are riding for lunch at the Yearling Resturant in Cross Creek. Some maybe in and out of the park during the day, not all of them will want to go where the others go. Most will get together for breakfast and supper, but will eat lunch where ever they are. Just some quick answer notes:

The wonderful pies, thanks go to Maggie at Maggie's European Bakery and Cage in Flagler Beach. They we're REALLY excellent. However, don't go over there expecting to try a piece at the cafe because there are no pies on her menu and she doesn't make them . . . normally. It was something special, just for us!

As for the routes enjoyed by many, thanks go to Dave Doolin and Bill Parker. Dave especially put in a lot of time to get routes planned and times out going in two directions for the Saturday ride to The Yearling for lunch. He lead a group in one direction and I . . . mislead a group in the same direction. Sorry Dave, but glad it worked out.

Lunch at The Yearling was really enjoyable. Some tried the gator meat in one form or another, some had more normal fare and all the while, Willie (75 years old) is singing some great blues while playing his guitar and harmonica in the background. Gotta love it.

As usual, a really great bunch, great fun, thanks all for making this a great weekend adventure.

Thanks Mac, and thanks all who joined in. It was the best ever FLSTOC, IMHO!

I heard Mac's parting horn as he rode by the motel on his way out to San Diego just before dawn. No reason to hang around because, yes . . . it another same'ol, same'ol, horizon to horizon blue sky and another spectacular sunrise on the Atlantic Coast. We just make do, like always.

Had a nice breakfast at Maggie's with a few still remaining before packing up.

I think I'll . . . go for a ride. :D

Since I had to miss this great event and not get to share in all the fun in person, I have really enjoyed looking at the pictures and reading about it here in the forum. I am so glad you all had a great time and I hope you enjoyed our little piece of Florida!

My wife finally forced me into going to a Urgent Care Center here in Palm Coast yesterday morning because the pain, swelling, redness and heat emanating from my ankle was worse. Ready for this?? The doctor diagnosed the problem as gout!! Unbelievable, me? and here I lead such a clean life!! ;) Got two shots in the rear-end for it and three prescriptions to take over the next couple of weeks. Good think is I feel much better this morning (Sunday), but am supposed to stay off the foot as much as possible for the next few days.

I sure missed seeing all of you and making some additional new friends, but I will definitely be there next year, no matter where in FL it is. Thanks a lot to all of you who made the long trips to get here, especially Mac and George who I know came QUITE a ways.

Shuey, from everything I've read you did another awesome job putting this year's event together and making it work--thank you! I know Dave's routes are always great, too. I didn't get any phone calls from anyone getting lost, so either my posted route suggestions were okay, or no one rode them. LOL And by the way, although my forum nickname is ParkerBill, my last name is Fisher.

I hope and pray you all have safe trips back home! Ride safe!

Warm regards,

A great many thanks and a huge dose of appreciation goes out to Mr. Wolfe. What a great event! You win the organizational skills award, for sure. I doubt anyone puts as much time, effort and money into an event as you did and we all thank you for it.

Another thanks going out to Mr. Doolin for a great tour leading us through Florida horse country. I had no idea that horses were a big deal in Florida. It looks like Kentucky in that area with all the horse farms. Beautiful!

I surely didn't go hungry this trip. Seems like all I did was eat. I'm not complainin'! Every meal was good. I thought I was going to have to remove my tank bag to make room for my belly.:D

I got to meet some more great folks! Enjoyed talking and listening to each and every one. I love all the stories as much as the ride.

I made it back here at 6:08 CDT after leaving Ormond Beach at (Zero-Mac-Thirty) 2:50 CDT. That's 15:18 for 1030 miles. 2640 for the whole trip. My hiney is so sore I can't touch it with a powder puff. Not a single incident or close call. Didn't even hit the rain until I got within 3 miles of my house. I suppose someone is watching over me.:run1:

Shuey's Grand Finale was the best! We all had just finished our homemade pie when Shuey broke out his own personal peace pipe. I think he put Kudzu in it but I'm not sure. He passed it around and I don't remember much after that. He sure knows how to throw a party. Thanks again Shuey!

Note to anyone hosting an event - find a way to get Jeff to attend so he can chronicle the event with his keen eye and ever ready camera.

GREAT job Jeff - it was a real pleasure seeing you again and the picture collection is just wonderful. I'm printing a couple and including them in thank you notes going back to Flagler.

Only one or two others know of your Tom Foolery! I may have kissed the pig but my memory is like an elephant. Revenge is forthcoming, I assure you.:D
