On Thursday, Dec 1st, 2005 this site will be 1 year old.:hb2:

So, as a sort of celebration:capwin: , rather than have one big event, I'm challenging everyone to meet up with at least one other member of the site on that day.:chat1: It can be lunch, breakfast, coffee, you name it. :coffee1:

Since this will be on a Thursday, and the Two Wheel Texans always have a get together in Plano, I'm going to use that as my effort to meet this challenge.:banr1:

Then, post who you met and if they were someone you knew from the site or a new contact or anything you think would be interesting to know.:scared2:

What do you think? You guys up for it? You have 1 month.... I know you can do it because :yr1:

Sherob, we can meet, maybe get some other STowners to join up. The question is "where"?

I'll throw out "the Hobbit Hole" (Kirby and Richmond). It's a long drive for me, but I'd be willing.

I'm in the Westchase area... Richmond @ Wilcrest... but have a flexible job that allows me to take longer lunches, so whatever is easy for others if fine ;)

I happen to have a flexible boss/job (Within reason) so a long lunch isn't a problem. Maybe we should take Pred8tor up on the offer. hehe.

Actually if you've never been on-site at NASA, we could meet over here and I could drag you around some of the buildings and you can see some spacecraft stuff.

NO boats to Cozumel in the near future. Two of the three cruise ship piers are gone...
Most of the tourist trap shops on the sea wall are...severely damaged. They have a lot to do and December 1st would be very optimistic. I'd check with your cruise ship company.

I'll be happy to come "lead" you guys anywhere. Silver is so fast... that's the reason it was first off the assembly line.

So it looks like TxRebel, Sherob, and Medicine Bear are all potentially coming down here...Where would you guys like to meet?

Speaking of meeting, I met Medicine Bear last night. Very cool guy. Seems like the Sport Touring mentality has parallels in general interests. I look forward to meeting more of myself...er, you guys.

For the NASA thing, I'll need to get you guys temp badges for running around on site. Also, if any of you are not U.S. citizens then it is nearly impossible to get you on-site.

If I can work it out, I'll try and get us in Mission Control, Old Mission Control, and Space Station Mission Control. We can look in the Mock-up and Trainer facility, a "really" big vaccum chamber (featured in lots of space movies) and potentially the X-38 that was moth-balled. And if time presents itself, we can run over to the NBL (Neutral Buoyancy Lab - aka a "really" big pool) and possibly see the Plasma Rocket (which hopefully hasn't been moved yet).

And if we feel like being geeks, we can eat at the cafeteria on-site.

and after they dropped us off in Italy you started shouting, "Uh oh, it looks like the leaning tower is going to fall, and started a panic" So we hoped on our bikes and ran over to an air show, and you were joking around about the plane coming too close, which we narrowly avoided and drove a little further and you thought this sign was funny, but forgot to read the fine print. The engines are silver, so really our bikes are just an extended engine.

I've started the process for getting the badges...We might have to do a quick paper session before we roll on site, but it'll work out.

M-Bear...The Saturn V rocket is unfortunately covered up now with a big ugly building. The Smithsonian is preserving it because it was decaying VERY quickly. But by preserving it, they have boxed it in. Perhaps I can start a petition in a few years to have them replace the vinyl walls with UV-blocking glass.

I'll try and pick some places for us to do a photo or two.

We had an informal "ChriSTmas STOCing" the day before Christmas last year.

Met at "Eggs N' Things" in Ojai, and did the 33, Lockwood Valley, Three Points, San Francisquito Canyon thing, with a late mexican food lunch in Valencia. We tried for lunch at The Rock Inn at Lake Hughes (http://www.rockinnusa.com/), but they were closed for the Holiday.

First time I remember being on a bike and seeing ice at the water crossing!

A good time was had by all, and all are looking for a repeat...

Ok, so what's the plan for a ride/cup-o-coffee here in the north-east on Dec. 1st? Any takers? I can't be the only one that doesn't want to park it for the winter! I wanna ride!

No problem. If anybody else is coming, simply let me know over the next couple weeks so I can request the badges.

Doob,

Was looking forward meeting a few riders from around Houston at your NASA tour/Anniversary Challenge, but it will not be this time.

1) The 03 ST is still in the shop for leaks fixing.

-- Week one: diagnose fluids leaking from weep hole by water pump, order seals and replace.
-- Week two: still more leaks, but this time it is a oil galley plug. Order a new seal washer recommended by Honda and install
-- Week three: still more leaks, by the oil pressure sensor. Seal on order.
-- Week four?

2) Could have cranked up the old Nighhawk to join you, but now the job is taking me out of town. Will even have to miss the BBQ outing.

So no badge for me. Maybe next time. Not happy about it. Just bought this ST and missed riding all of November, the best time of the year to ride around Houston.

Mellow is looking a little stiff in all of those shots.

Did Hooters have anything to do with that? :p:

Well, I'd be worried if they didn't have a little to do with it... :D

This is the week!... I hope everyone plans on meeting at least one other person on Dec 1st.... But, if you can't make it then go for a ride this weekend with someone on the site... or plan a trip next week or year for that matter.

The whole reasoning behind this was to get people to showup, make friends and create some opportunities for riding... Not that you guys really need a reason... but it's as good a reason as any.:bow1:

I'm pretty much parked for the winter, but I'm up for a beer someplace Thursday night. Something after work, around 7:00 pm would be good for me.
Kempo, georgegeorge, let me know what you think...................

One year and 2,200+ members... wow! I never would have thought this place would have taken off so quickly.

Some have moved off to other bikes, some have moved off and come back and some have never left.

The success of this site rests equally between it's administrators, contributors and members in that they all agrees to provide respectful, insightful and sometimes humorous information to make this a quality site.

The attitudes expressed here are more of a close family with years of caring than a group whose only common bond is a hobby.

I bow to all that visit and contribute to the insanity we call ST-Owners.com, let's hope the coming year is more of the same.

THANKS!
