Ok..Its been a couple of months or so since I've had this on.
I do my share of slab..I can't say the I see any difference..
If there is any marginal gain in stability it is offset by these factors:
1. The road grime cause the black pins to get dirty and become a pain in the arse to get the pan off for an oil change.
2. With scoop on..It acts to catch everything on the road (especially in the fall in New England..)and funnel it onto the top of the pan sitting there between the oil pan and the belly pan..I took the pan off and out come 3 lbs of road crap and leaves..Thats when I said screw it..Not going back on.
Luckily it was cheap.
Other people have reviewed it positively but thats my 2 cents..

Thanks for honest assessment. With that feedback, I won't consider the belly pan any further.

I ordered one early this spring, and have never put it on. I think I'll cut mine down and use it to make a fendaxtenda for the front portion of the rear wheel well. Todd, don't throw it out!

I had one of these on my "Wants" list, but no more. Thanks for the info.

I bought my '03 used and there was one already on it. I didn't know until I changed the oil. As stated above, the road grime made it nearly impossible to pop the fasteners and I broke several. Having done that I decided to leave it off and see if there was a discernible difference. I couldn't tell if there was or not so, in the interest of making it easier to change the oil, I'm leaving it off.

Damn, and I just put mine on this weekend! Haven't done any riding yet. (Seattle rain has hit and I've been busy at work and home). If after I've put some miles on mine and my observations are different, I'll provide a post. Of course I'll be most interested in seeing how it helps with the summer heat. This winter I can always take the scoop off.

I've had the pan on with the scoop here in San Diego for six months. No leaf problems and no road grim to speak of. Hey, it's So. Cal.
I attached mine permanently to the side under fairings with fender washer style pop rivets because the supplied 'rivets' didn't work well as you must drill into a metal support bracket under the fairing edges.
Removal is not hard except that you have to take off both under fairings. The pan is flexed down by the bottom of the engine.
Oil changing is no problem as mine came with a hole almost dead on with the oil drain (another hole for those little tubes, too). I use the oil drain tube arrangement from Cycle Gadgets so there are no drips. Some oil can drip on it with a filter change, but the tin foil catcher fixed that.
Does it help? I don't know. Maybe it's more in the mind as you pass a truck in a crosswind, besides, it looks almost aerospace when you see it on the side stand with the rivets at regular intervals.
Don't make it your first farkle, but I'd give it a Thumbs Up.

I agree, although I took the scoop part off mostly because I didn't like the look. No probs with crud inside it and its out of the way during oil changes if you're careful. I think it helps with crosswinds as wind isn't able to get up inside the fairing as much, to push you around.

As far the junk getting caught in it..It could also be where you live as well..
If your on the fence about trying it there are opinions on boths sides..Enough to maybe give it a shot and see if it works for you..Like I said previously, It is inexpensive enough to not bother you if decide to remove.
