Hi Everyone,

This probably sounds stuped, but I bought some Gripp Puppies that I thought could be installed over the Honda heated grips, and I can't seem to get them on!! Is there a trick? I tried using some hair spray as a lubricant which helped to get them on part way, but I couldn't get it on ore than half way before they were stopping. (I used that in the past to lube them up and then it provided some adherence once it dried.)

Is there some special lubricant that dries after you get them on? Recomendations?

Thanks!
Rick

I have the same set up. I put lots of dishwashing soap on the end of the bar and the inside of the grips. Once you get the end of the foam grips over the end of the bar just twist the grips until they slide where you want them. It was not very difficult.

Use regular dish soap and lots of it, they will reluctantly slid right on.Soap them up with some water.

I guess the "magic solution" I was looking for was simple dishwashing soap! I had thought about using that, but was concerned that it would not dry up and the grips would continue to move around (hence trying hair spray)...
I guess that's not the case.

Thanks, guys!

Simple car wash soap worked for me. Pretty easy. Once you've got them on a few minutes or so with the grips on high should dry them right out.

Its amazing how easy it was with an air compressor. No lube No soap they just floated on.

Well, I took literally everyone's advice and used soap last night to install the grip puppies. They both went on easily. I think I may have used too much soap on one of them, so I took it off and watered it down before putting back on. I checked them today and both are firmly in place.

Now, I'll mount the new Sargent seat (coming next Tuesday), the Honda topbox (just arrived), a new windscreen to replace the tinted Rifle on it now (to be ordered), and a tank bag as soon as I can read all the replies to that post and I'll consider it sufficiently farkled!

Thanks again for your support.

Sufficiently farkeled? I didn't know that state ever really existed. Seems to me that every time I think I'm getting there somebody comes out with something I want to add...:money1:

What kind of heated grip elements did you put on, Rick?
These? http://www.casporttouring.com/store/merchant.mvc?Screen=PROD&Product_Code=16025&Category_Code=st1300_electrical

Thinking about getting "heaters" for mine. I use puppies too, and wonder how they fit betw. the stock grips and the puppies.

I have the Honda heated grips with the thermostat in the left side of the faring. They came with the bike when I bought it recently. The grip puppies made the grips quite a bit fatter, but I think it's going to work out fine. (I haven't ridden it yet as the bike is in the garage getting some other farkles installed...) Good luck. Ok I got the heated grips in today,,,,,I need some ideas as to where to put the switch. It is a 3-position switch (Center - OFF, high - low) that came with the heaters.

I aint got compressed air, so I suspect getting the grips off is gonna be a bear.
