I think that it would be interesting to find out how many "geezers" there are on this Website riding ST1300's, especially since I am one of them. My definition of a geezer is anyone on Medicare, so you young guys collecting Social Security at 62 have a few years to wait. For our International geezers, Medicare starts when you are 65. Don't be shy, 'fess up!

My hat's off to geezers who keep riding at 65+. :bow1:

Hope to be doing the same myself someday.

I am 99.6% on my way to being a full fledged Geezer. Will I feel or look any different when I get there? I feel pretty good - but I already look like a Geezer!

As it happens there is a bike club called the Geezers and I ride with them so I must be one. Here's the link: Geezers (http://groups.msn.com/GeezerBikers/home.htm)

It's the only "club" I've ever been happy riding with. Funny thing is that there are "no dues, no officers, no rules. No problem." Most are retired guys and primarily ride on Tuesdays in my area. I'm not retired yet so take a day off a few times a year to ride. In fact I'll be leading a ride next Tuesday if anyone wants to come along. The rides are low key lunch rides and not extensively planned but they have been happening weekly during the riding season here for about 5 years now, a testament to people who care more about riding than politicing. They do a few overnighters each year also.

My '05 ST1300 is the second ST in the group (a mix of H-D, Wings & misc bikes otherwise). The other ST is an 1100 bought new by one of the ladies in the group in 2000 and now has 165,000 miles on it. The lady definitely likes to ride.

Getting close, by not there yet, another couple of years to go. Don't feel old, and sure the H--- don't act old, just a state of mind anyway. Plan on riding till I can't get on the ST and then I hope I'm still able to ride a scooter.

Do I qualify? I'm terrible at math and memory is sometimes spotty, but my TDL when I was last able to find it, indicated my DOB is: 6 September 1930... I do know I ride an 03 ST1300A...

If you are still riding a motorcycle at any age you are not a geezer. :bow1: Age is just a number and I admire all of you for doing what you enjoy.
You gotta enjoy it while you can as life is too short

Doug,

Don't mean to hijack your thread, but, where is the ride to on Tues and would a 38 y/o, non-retired, ST rider be welcome ?? Curious.

Shouldn't there be several different catagories of Geezers?

50-54 Geezers in Training
55-59 Young Geezers
60-64 Geezers
65-69 Old Geezers
70 and Up Old Tough Geezers

I think you'll have to find something else for the 50-54 age group or the Brits on the forum are gonna laugh at them. How about Novice Geezers? Or maybe Baby Geezers?

Hey! Steve. I like the new category! JR--I believe we "met" a couple of years ago on the ST list. How could a Texan forget a "JR".:D

CB, we probably did "meet" on the liST. I "rode" the ST mail liST for a long time. Just have not gotten round to re-subbing. I've been engrossed with moving, selling a house (closed Friday...lost a bunch of money but had to get out of the mortgage payment on an empty house). venturing on the "dark side", getting my health back in order so no more blood pressure pills to keep me dizzy and afaraid I'll drop an ST with all the costly tupperware to replace (Honda loves that stuff!!!). I was in Albuquerque when I first joined STOC (member number 394). Been gone from there about 4 years. Kids prevailed on me to move back closer to where daughters live (south of the Houston Megamess) (If DFW can be the "metromess" Houston can be the "megamess" I guess) since both sons live outside the US (Older in Caracas, VZ, younger in Maputo, Mozambique) and come to the states only once a year... family gatherings being a top priority, they wanted me closer for logistics reasons. So, older son bought a waterfront property on Lake Livingston, moved me here to be "resident caretaker"... thus it's "in the Piney Woods I am." JR STOC 394 grumpy@eastex.net

I'll be 63 on Thanksgiving day so, although I don't fit Ken's definition, I think I should be a full fledged Geezer. I started working out 6 months ago and this is what I look like now at 63

Is this the same CB who actually met Old man Honda in Japan at the end of WWII?

Yes, Phil, except meeting Mr. Honda was during the Korean War when I bought a motor-assisted bicycle from him at his original small plant and sales office in Hammamatsu, Japan which was a short distance from Komaki Aerodrome near Nagoya, Japan where I was flying missions over North Korea.

BTW, when did you start using "curmudgeon" as a user name? :) And, Happy Birthday youngun!!! You sure look a lot different than I imagined.

Good to see you have come over to this Forum.

How have you been? Have you been riding much?

What type aircraft did you fly in Korea?

I took Curmudgeon when I moved to this Forum. OK I lied about how I look. Actually I'm the one on the right in this photo:

Golly Phil, the guy in the saddle looks a lot like me!!! I'm doing pretty well, thank you. The last two months have been extremely stressful as Rita decided to pass directly over my house at 125 mph (just before and after the eye). We had evacuated and it was 2 1/2 weeks after the storm before we were able to return home to one big pile of junk that looked like a bomb had hit. I had about 30 trees on my property and about half have been lost, maybe more. We're not through cleaning up yet but I did get my new roof this past weekend finally so we can begin now to fix up some inside damage.

BTW, while trying to stop a leak in the roof one day shortly after returning home, I managed to fall half way through the ceiling and injured my back and right hand pretty badly. There were no medical facilities at the time in the area and I didn't have time to stop anyway so didn't get any attention. As a consequence, my right hand (throttle hand dadgummit) hurts most of the time so I guess that will be with me now forever.

About riding, I took some time today and went for one of those 125 mile lunch runs!:) :) :)

I really can't say I've "come over" to this forum" since you can see I rarely have posted. I'm still very active on ST1100.org, however.

Nice to run into you again. It was about this time 2 or 3 years ago when you bought your 03 ST1300 and rode it back from Mississippi and were going to stop by here but the weather was too bad.

Sorry, Didn't mean to take up so much space here.

I'm afraid you have me confused with Seattle Phil. I have never been in the eastern states on a motorcycle, and have never owned a 2003. I have had discussions with you at ST1100.ORG though. I rarely ever use that forum anymore.

Sorry to hear about your house and accident. Hope you get back to 100%
