I recently acquired an '03 St1300 that had a customer Corbin seat on it that was made for a large guy. I sold the seat, as it was much too large for me and bought a Sargent seat instead. Before getting the Sargent I did ride the ST on a short run, and there was considerable heat coming up. Having seen many threads on the heat issue, I came to accept that this bike DID indeed have a heat issue. (My bike has wind deflectors, but nothing else has been done as far as I know.)

I rode the bike yesterday and realized that the heat that had been coming up from between the tank and the prior seat, was no longer doing so with the Sargent. The Sargent seat fits very snugly against the tank and even has an extra flap to fill in any voids, which apparently works very well. I have limited stick time on the bike so far, but I can tell that this seat dramatically reduced the heat issue.

Interesting... I've ridden with both Corbin and Russell saddles and never had heat issues with either, (maybe I just have one of the "cool" ST's).

Coincidently, I just posted the Corbin for sale in the classified section...great saddle if anyone's interested.

Could it have been that the Corbin wasn't on properly, allowing heat to leak upwards? Been there / done that, with the stock seat.

The problem comes when ensuring that the front 2 prongs on either side of the bike slide into the 2 slots on the seat.

I agree the Sargent is a tight fit - almost too tight. I guess this is good

HI! Any chance that Corbin is still for sale? ;)
