Recently bought a Mio 269 DigiWalker Gps so i thought i'd give it a quick review for you all
First impression :
The unit is a flat slimline(ish) unit with a large easy to view, well lit touch screen, integrated antenna(sp?) and comes with an additional extended antenna as standard.
The unit has a built in Mp3 player and an outlook syncronised address book facility.
Memory:
Although hard drive orientated for map storage the unit has an SD card slot for additional maps or mp3s. The HDD on this 269 has 2.5 gig capacity and 600 meg spare after ALL the european mapping charts have been installed (USA probably different) The hard drive is supposed to be shock proof (is sold with a bicycle mount:o: ) but i dont really want to test it:D
In box contents:
GPS unit, mains and 12 volt chargers, earphones, carry case (alas, not see through) Additional antenna, suction cup holder, map cd's, pc sync cable.
Ease of use:
the unit can be setup and operated by touch of finger, but for those of us with gammy hands and fat fingers they supply a neat telescopic stylus which lives in the back of the unit.
The unit i have (UK model) has the postcode or select on map facility and provides a simulation of the programmed journey if required.
The voice of the unit comes out really polite and clear. It gives plenty of verbal warning for turns and always states the required road in the sentence.
The unit also gives both 2 & 3D representations of the route and current speed. Actual GPS co-ordinates are available to assist RAC, AA etc.
Drawbacks :
The Mp3 cannot be used when the GPS is active, as in you cant listen & be directed at the same time (shame, got some real good tunes on it too:D )
Carry case could have a transparent cover to it with access at rear for power/audio connections.
Cost: £369 GBP with full euro maps preloaded.
