I just received my new Autocom:D . I can not find a place to run the positive wire. I am looking for something that turns on with the ignition. I wired it to a source originally in the tail of the bike, but then the bike would hardly run so that has been nixed:eek: . The instructions say you can wire it into the rear light, but I can't get the housing off to look at the wires. Any ideas would be greatly apreciated.:bow1:

Hi Trey,
I installed my Autocom by tapping into the taillight wire: Black/Brown on 3-wire connector at rear light (don't matter left or right side). I got the advice on this board and it has worked great. I mounted the unit in the space where the toolbag would normally go and used the rubber strap to help hold it into place.
What part of Fort Worth are you in? I am off Beach and Basswood area.
Good Luck and holler if you need help.
Trey,
Take the rear fender off, and you will be able to get to the connectors for the tail lights from underneath. As Bebeep said, black/brown, dont matter which side.

There are 4 allen screws that hold on the rear fender. To face out the rear of the bike and the other two are up underneath the fender. When you pull those four screws the rear mudflap will drop straight down and off the bike. Then look up inside there and you'll see the wiring for the rear tail light.
I have 3 pictures in this post:

The wires I hooked up to though are the ground and the brake light 12V. You want the one I didn't hook up to which is the constant 12V wire (black w/ brown stripe) just like BeBeep pointed out.

Here is the way I finally decided to place the connectors for rider and passenger. I use a coiled extensions from where the plugs are placed.

I like your cable holder setup, what kind of caps are those?

Regular rubber caps with gaskets I found that just happen to fit. I don't even know what they're originally for. The clips are the clips from Autocomm's site. Link above.

You say you found, is that at home or a company? Thanks

Got them from the maint. dept at the hospital I work. Not sure, but I think they came off some equipment they installed recently. Might have been caps for air supply connections (at least that how they look)

All you folks who installed the Autocom in the tail housing: How does this affect your ability to adjust the VOX/vol settings on the unit? I assume you just set it and forget it? I was thinking of installing the thing in a flairing pocket unless you guys can convince me it works just fine under the seat. thanks
Once you set the volume and vox, you shouldn't have to adjust it any more, unless you suddenly decide that the sidetone is too loud or not loud enough. The vox is pretty much set once you find the sweetspot.
