Just got a Heat troller, but haven't got my jacket in yet. I have a question on connections. I know I connect the red power in plug to the battery harness plug. It then says to plug your garment into the gray power out plug. What does the black wire coming out of the center of the Heat Troller go to? This is the Warm n' Safe brand.

I don't want anyone to give you advice just guessing so please post a picture so we can be sure...
However:
You haven't listed a connection to 'ground'.

On a Gerbing's controller the red wire hooks the battery plug, the gray to the jacket and the black to pants, gloves and sox. I think the company that makes the controllers for Gerbings also makes them for Warm-n-safe.

Mac, I have read that Gerbings does *NOT* have their controllers made by the same manufacturer.

Thanks guys. It is the dual Heat Troller from Warm n' Safe. I guess when my liner comes in it will have two plugs in it? One for the liner and one for gloves and pants?

Probably Yes and No LOL.

The liner can be run with one wire out controlling both the gloves and liner.

In the left? inside pocket you can switch to two wires coming out.
One for gloves, one for the liner.

Don't worry it'll make sense when you get the liner.

Yup.
What Carl said.

But I was right too... you didn't list that ground connection! :)

btw the loop in the powerlet plug is to shorten it a squeek so it doesn't hit the exhaust in the dual powerlet outlet.....again:rolleyes:

I usually leave the powerlet plugged in and use the other end, (red/black) barrel connection, as the disconnect.

The two wires you see plugged together in the liner are for the gloves. As they are shown, the gloves are hooked to the jacket. If you unplug it, you then route it to the second input of the controller and the gloves have their own circuit.

The red plug is both v+ and ground (coaxial connector) The other end either goes to the powerlet plug I showed in the picture, or to the harness which has 2 leads one for ground one (fused) for v+.

Both connections have to be made or the electrons spill out and they will cause you to loose traction. DAMHIK.

Thanks again. Moonshine shouldn't be too bad this year with heat. I'll feel like I'm cheating.:D

I have the same (dual) warm and safe set up. I control my gloves separate from my jacket liner. I usually want the gloves warmer than the jacket. If I had the heated pant liners I think I'd still run the gloves separate and piggy back the jacket/pants.

One more question. What do you guys do with the portable heat troller if you get caught in heavy rain? Is it waterproof? Do you just set it and put it in your pocket? It looks like water could get in where the wires come out.

Its water proof. The pots have an oring seal and the unit is potted.
No issues leaving it exposed in the elements.
