I am 6-5 with a 36". I feel pretty good on my 2004 ST and the seat is in it's lowest position. (Haven't messed with changing it yet, but I've only logged about 50 miles on her.)

I'm 6'3 with a 34" inseam. More than enough to dance the bike at a stoplight on my ST11. I haven't hooked up the XM yet, so I'm actually bobbing the bike side to side to the music in my head. I just need the XM for a socially correct excuse for dancing at a light.

32", you'll be fine.

5'10.5", 29-30 inch inseam, 185 lbs. Seat in highest position (knees need relief) and I can nearly flat-foot it on both feet. Heels approx. 1/2" off ground on both sides. I'm thinking about going with Motorcycle Larry's Peg-lowering kit to lower the seat a bit for improved handling, but I doubt I'll do it.

6'1" with a 30" inseam. Hey I can scratch my knees w/o bending over. Feet flat on the ground at stop. Have the seat in the highest position with the rubber grommets underneath removed and bent the seat holds back to slide into the 2nd slots. The key here though is the bend has to be accurate enough to allow the holds to slip into the slots on the bottom of the seat. If you look closely at it you will see what I mean. This lowered the seat a least 3/4 - 1" in back. It has all but eliminated the forward slide that accompanies the normal seat position.

I rode with the stock seat in the middle position for awhile...then got the Sargent seat. I prefer the Sargent seat in the highest position for long rides...but local--keep in the middle.

What Rob said (and I lie when I say my inseam is 28-29 :-)).
I tippy toe when I back either the ST1100 or ST1300 up...
I only put one foot down at stop signs and red lights.

And my loving wife laughed at tme when she saw me tip toeing the ST1100 when we looked at our 1st one...

With your inseam you'll do fine.

I am 5'11'' w/ a 32" inseam and own an ST1100 and ST1300. To answer your question - the seat on the 1100 is slightly lower than the 1300 and the foot pegs on the 1100 are a little higher. I have no problem with the position on the ST1100 on the road, although I prefer the riding position on the ST1300 for long distance. I have had the ST1100 on 6000+ mile trips with no comfort problems due to the seat position. I find the riding position on the ST1100 on the track more suitable for sport riding. I seem to be able to transfer weight from side to side more easily on the ST1100.
I hope this helps with your question.

Midget in a land of giants I must be!

5ft 5in, w/ 30" inseam, 150lbs riding an ST1100. Haven't yet had the chance to try an ST1300

I can can get toes down on both sides or a solid ball-of-the-foot on one side. By time I get a heel down it's too far gone. Weight is manageable if you're careful. Load up with a passenger and big top box and you'll want to plan stops and starts carefully.

I'm 6' but height isn't relevant to your question, it's the length of your legs. My inseam is 32 and I can plant both feet on the ground with the seat in the middle position.

5'7" 175 27-28" inseam. I've modified the seat pan and the seat foam lowering the over all seat height by over an inch. I can flat foot at stops with both feet down wearing thick soled boots. With seat unmodified and on the lowest setting, I was still only tip toes down and that's with the rear suspension set as soft as it will go, both in terms of preload and rebound. That's on an 03 ST1300A. For detailed instruxions as to what I did to the seat, ask off forum: grumpy@eastex.net.

five eight, thirty inseam (on a low gravity day and stretching the truth a little), buck forty five....seat in the middle position (low position when 2-up), no problems with my ST1300. I've never had a bike I can flat foot with both feet at the same time. Use to both toes or flat footing either side!

Boy there are a lot of long-legged ST1300/1100 owners out there! I am 5'9" and I am one of those "inseam challenged" individuals at 28". Long waist, short legs! I barely manage now with the seat in the lowest position to get the balls of both feet on the ground. I have on order, as a start, foot peg lowering kit to take some of the bend out of the knees, heli-bars to adjust the bars to a bit more comfortable position, and I am looking forward to getting out and riding when the rain clears out of here which should be today and tomorrow. I am also considering having some foam taken out of the seat to lower it just a tad as a start.

Add my 5'9" and 30" I'm on the short side so far...

For those who replied with both numbers this is what Excel says:

Mean: 71.5" 32.2"
Mode: 74.0 34.0
Median:72.0 32.0

Looks like 6' with a 32" inseam is about as middle of the pack as you can get, but there's more tall than short riders. (I used to be a statistician...)
