I may have a chance to purchase a new 2004 ST1300 non-ABS (if the price is right). Can anyone shade some light on the changes that were made to the 2005 model? Are the changes in the 2005 model so diverse to warrant the difference in price? How is 2004’s reliability? As always, responses are greatly appreciated.

There are 3 recalls that need to be done on the '04, they do not need to be done on the '05. I would make sure they are done before you take delivery of a 'new' '04.

Other than the recalls the only other thing I can think of is the obvious... Red ones are faster... :D (you'll enjoy either!)

Hi Kinz...

No changes between the 04 and the 05..
Don't listen to the next few post about how the Blue 04 is faster than the Red 05..they are jealous..

Seriously the only thing that may be different is there might be a few minor recalls needed with the 04 (Like the recall of the 04 blue paint to change it to Red..Kidding again:D )..Someone who knows will chime in

As always with Honda,
No reliability issues..If you can get a deal for an 04 that is significanlty less expensive..I'd say go for it!

Here is a photo and recent result of a land/speed contest between Blue and Red. Note the finishing position. BTW- that is Mark in the pic acknowledging the finishing order.

Off the record: Color is meaningless. This is one great bike.

Get ABS. I have heard stories of police motorcyclists that are trained to modulate the front brake during a panic stop and when the time comes to use the training, they can't execute.

Can anyone provide info on exactly how many recalls and what they are? If I decide to make a purchase, I would like to let the dealer know that I know what I’m talking about and also to make sure that all recalls are done properly.
Thanks.

Thanks RC, I always heard 3 and didn't catch that there were only 2 recalls on the '04.

um... let's see, most folks with :04biker: have had theirs twice as long as those folks with :biker: .... jealous? I doubt it! Besides, blue is faster :p:

Don't think the 2005 has had any recalls (yet?) And it seems like I saw somewhere that the main change was to make the '05 11 lbs. lighter.

Thanks Joe. I looked it up on the website you provided. It looks like only 2 recalls for the 2004.
