Hey guys.
Well I purchased my STeed STicks with the group buy and am getting ready to look at installing them (I have all winter). Anyway, I thought I would throw this out and get peoples opinions on how they like them now? Honestly my big concern is hitting them on a turn. I dont think I tip them down that far but honestly I did not think I would touch my pegs down on a corner and do (I did add a peg lowering kit here though). Scares the hell out of me when I hit the pegs now (although they do pop up like the are supposed to). Comments?

I LOVED,,, my Steed Sticks... Though,,, I drag my pegs often and was worried about a none moveable item such as the Sticks when they,,, came in contact with the road... It effected my riding... :(
Just before my 9,300 mile trip I took a 4 ft - 8 ft sheet of Plywood and wedged it under the tires while the bike was on the centerstand... I then pulled up on the sheet to in effect to see what hit first as it were... Well,,, on my bike,,, the Steed sticks hit first... Really,,, the bolt,,, that holds the Pegs on was what hit as the threads of the bolt were the lowest point...
So,,, while I was in Hill City South Dakota I went down to the friendly local Hardware store and got what I at least call,,, a "Chicago Fastener"... It is sort of like a rivet that has threads inside of it... So,,, I gained about 1/2 - 3/4 inch more clearance,,, the pegs hit first,,, and I was back to riding my agressive self...
As an added note,,, it makes it look far more cool as it gets the "Bolt/Threads" look away from it...
If you need help knowing what I speak of,,, I can get a picture of it I think...

God idea with the plywood. And yes please do take a picture if you dont mind.
Out of curiosity, do you have a peg lowering kit on or are you stock?
I also assume then that you are riding with them on now?

Rocket~~~
My Steeds were the first thing to hit,,, FOLDED,,, in... It is that little bolt that holds the Pegs on or,,, I should say,,, it was,,, the threads,,, on the bottom of the bolt that held the pegs on...
The Chicago/Blind nuts,,, and SHAZZAM,,, no more worries...

Well I went to a boly supply house today and tried asking for something like you used for your STicks and he gave me a "are you on crack" look. I env brought in the peice and explained what it was I was trying to achieve and basically he said they had nothing like that.
Does anyone have any idea at all what this bolt would be called?

And,,, IT IS RED TOO!!!:biker:
I HAD,,, to have one!!! We got a REALLY,,, Long driveway,,, and I am frigg'n lazy... :)
Just got home,,, watched the last 10 minutes of the Illini game,,, got gas for the "Dawn Snow Throwing Expedition" tomorrow,,, and will go out and take a picture,,, as best as I can,,, of the Chicago Fastener/Nut Thingy... "IF",,, I can find my Digital camera and the batteries are up on it that is... I got to go walk the dog anyway so,,, I will post it later tonight,,, if at all possible...

But,,, after all the trouble of finding camera...
Finding out battery was toast...
Couldn't find the charger...
Finally found charger,,, and charged up the camera...
Went out and took pictures...
Then,,, the internet thingy was down...
And now,,, loading them here... I get to,,,
Show you my other 2 Red Items in my Shop/Garages!!!
First off,,, my new,,, just cleaned off my Driveway once,,, will probably never be used again,,, E V E R,,, Snow Blower!!! And,,, you Know it is fast as it is Red!!!:biker:
Then,,, Austin/Terry MUST,,, have been a good boy this year because,,, Santa brought him a 2003 50th Anniversary 6 speed Corvette Convertible with only 1.250 miles on it when he got it!!! And,,, of COURSE,,, it is red,,, and it Golly Dang almost matches my ST!!! But,,, the Vette color is far better than the Snow Blower... I might have to paint the Snow Blower to match...
:::::santa might have brought the vette to austin/terry but,,, frigg'n santa ain't paying for the vette::::: :(

Thanks very much for the pictures, they helped me understand what to look for. I did a quick stop to home depot tonight and theey do have the "Chicago Screws", but they are more a sleeve and the "washer" and the other end is the threaded part. This is not a real bad thing but they are not very wide.
How wide are the ones you found? The original bolt is 3/4 inch, is the chicago fastender the same or a lot smaller?
The other questions that come to mind are:
1. How do you keep it from vibrating off? From what I can tell it would be hard to get it real tight? I guess you could use lock tight but then you would never get it off.
2.Do the pegs stay in the closed position with these on? I dont have them yet but question one would make me believe you could not get them tight enough?
Thanks for all your comments.

There is a wave washer that fits into the joint which provides tension on the pegs themselves. It does not depend on the tightness of the bolt to keep them in the closed position.
