Cheap Heat for your seat-
I have a Leather Russell Day long, and have added two homemade genuine
sheepskin seat pads made from wash mitts. I bought two Australian sheepskin
wash mitts at Wal-mart for $6 each, cut off the cloth cuff, turned them
inside out, and trimmed off the perimeter seam, and most of the thumb. This
enables it to open up and lay flat, making a pad which is sized just right
for the contact patch between our butts and the seat. I had bought some
Teflon coated 24 gauge wire to make a do it yourself heated garment, but
found a deal on a heated liner for my wife, and bought two Dodge truck seat
heaters from ebay to make a heated liner for my Tourmaster jacket, so I
figured I`d try making heated seat pads. I just hot glued the wire in a
serpentine pattern, about 3/4" between runs, all over the underside of the
pads, and ran the wires along the seams of the seat to meet underneath, then
to a two pole disconnect. I covered the wiring under the pads with aluminum
tape to reflect heat upwards, away from the leather seat. It has not hurt
the seat at all. I had to run the wires to my Heatroller to control the
heat, it gets warm fast, I`d suggest using as much wire as possible. It does
a good job of warming my buns, but it also seems to increase the chances of
monkey butt heat rash. Doug

Not that it really matters for this post, but I can`t figure out how to get it to have ST1100 or neither in the title. Doug
