I think Charlie will try to make it too. I think Charlie is considering setting up a semi/private forum to use during the rally where I may be able to relay help to for anything people can help with. I'm not holding Charlie to it but it may very helpful for me.

Looks like there's a couple people here that need to get their priorities straight.
Food and vacation's are not higher on the list than riding. ;) Now go to your room and think about what you've said. :D

Haha, he uses anything as an excuse to ride, so its good.
Can riders have people ride with them in areas? When do you find out the start and finish point?

That looks like great fun. I see the entry list is very diversified as to location. Even a rider from the U.K. Good luck Curt. You'll have some great stories.:D

You MUST eat to ride.... A ride IS a vacation....(even one to the corner store).. Food is fuel for the body, a ride is fuel for the soul......

Honestly I'm not sure. You probably could but I'm assuming there couldn't be any help of any kind so even riding along may not be allowed.
I'm not sure when they will announce the start/finish. The only information so far is that the start is somewhere within a 250 mile radius around Des Moines, Iowa.
At some point I may make a care package for myself that can be mailed at any point from someone. Of course I don't know how many days I'll have to get it mailed to one of the checkpoints.
Thanks Barry (NBA336) for the well wishes.

I've done the TeamStrange Minnesota 1000 the last couple years and have been doing LD rides for about the last 4 years or so. This looked like an opportunity to take it to the next level.
Thanks,

I'd love to go on something like this, but I don't think I'll be up to it this year.

Thanks everybody for your support. I've been making a list and there's too much to write on my whiteboard so I'm trying to do a lot of the mod work right now and listing what I can try and get done now in the winter.

I looked at MapSource, and was amazed to discover that there are lots of potential start locations within a 250 mile radius. I think if I were going to plan something like this, I'd pick Kansas City.
I may very well be hip-deep in moving to the Midwest during the Butt Lite. If not, I sure would like to come out and cheer.

Well I've signed and delivered my Release Form for the ButtLite. The whiteboard has changed but there's still things to do.
I need a waterproof solution for my cb because if it even gets damp it doesn't work right but that may be my PTT that is causing all the issues. Who knows. Anyone know if you can remove the rubber ducky antenna from a handheld CB unit when using an external antenna? Do you need to leave it on? Can it be removed? If you remove it does it need to be terminated? Does it help/hurt to have both on?
I have a new CB/Cellular antenna bracket that I need to mount. It would be nice to get it powder coated but I'm not sure anyone I know can deal with a 28" piece.
I'm pretty much caffiene free. I only have it on very rare occasions now and it does give me a boost when I need it.
Exercise is something I need to step up but I have been running and getting it together. We've had a lot of rain though so I'm not running in the mud and rain. I try to do weights in the evenings when it rains.
Need to replace an audio cable for my MixIt I think and probably need to order a headset extension on a PTT button for my intercom just in case.
Need to get some breathable socks so I don't have to pack a ton of cotton ones.
Need to figure out a packing solution which I think I have a handle on. Probably need to find a little cooler that is better than the one I have.
All random thoughts.

Curt, I am not positive but I feel pretty confident in saying that when you plug in an external antenna it negates the rubber duckys usefulness.:biker:

I would believe that since it's not that useful to begin with. ;)
Just read the manual "Do not operate the radio using the walkie-talkie antenna and the mobile adaptor at the same time".
Ooops
