I am in awe of this helmet... fit, comfort, and finish is truely amazing :p: The inside flip down sun visor is awesome!!!!! :bow1: The metal chin clip is nice and comfortable and easy to use... no more rings :bow1: The sheild seems like it will not leak at all... it has a lip on the top of the helmet so if I have it cracked no water should run down the front :bow1:
This is the quietist helmet I have ever worn :bow1: I have CL-MAX, Symax, Scorpion Exo-700... yes, I'm Helmet Marcos :D I leave seats to LittleJohn and SpEd... LOL!!!

I like the sun shade, cool. I recently got an OGK FF4, which is a nice helmet, but it's noisy on the ST. Love how easy it is to change the visor, but this Justissimo just eliminates the need for multiple visors... I like it!
Too bad I just bought a helmet :-(

I think when it was originally introduced into the states, it was called the Arrow. Then they changed distributors and changed the name to Jarrow. Now they have a new U.S. distributor and the name is now Caberg Jutissmo which I think is the same name they use for it in Italy.
Be careful you don't let the plastic below the open button hit the ground too hard. Mine cracked and they wouldn't do anything about it. Sometimes I would put the helmet on the concrete beside my bike while I gased up. From time-to-time I would set it on top of a table, etc. I do not remember ever dropping it hard but the folks at Jarrow said I did and that is why it broke. Unless they have "beefed" that area up, it was mighty thin on my helmet. Check it out - treat it gently. Otherwise, I loved the helmet.
I went with the Schuberth C2 and I can say that it is everything the Jarrow wasn't - and, as I've already stated, the Jarrow was a great helmet. I still like the sunscreen on the Jarrow (aka Caberg) better thant the Schuberth since the Jarrow sunscreen is contoured for your nose and therefore comes down further than the Schuberth. The result is less glare on the Jarrow.

And now a question from our *really* warm weather area...
How is the air flow inside the helmet?
Thanks,

So far air flow is good... but it's spring  I'll have to wait for our summer to tell... I'll be able to let you know about rain later :D It's raining all day today :p:
Spring in Southern Texas... should arrive soon...
Do you have any way to compare the airflow to the other helmets you mention?
Mark
Yes, my helmet is looking pretty beat-up...

Nothing... I mean nothing compares to the Scorpion that I have! :bow1: That thing blows air like nobody's business! But it is also the loudest  So far the Caberg seems like my CL-Max as far as air flow. I might pull it out tomorrow and compare the two... ;)

Road home in the rain yesterday... this baby does not leak at all if vent is closed on top... only vent by the way, but still good air flow. It fogs if sitting still... crack shield and your ok. Will try some cleaner I have that is anti fog.
You can feel the vent work, especially that it is cold this morning... seems like it might be a decent summer helmet.
You might pick Sam's brain about his pro's and con's on his choice too ;)

I have one under the Jarrow brand name, for almost 1 1/2 years. Pretty good, nice quality. Got mine from the Aerostich guys at the best price at the time $300, I've gotten emails from 'stich and the helmet has been on sale recently. I do like it, but some peevs:
Anit-fog shield doesn't last long - although it is important to clean with only soap and water, seems to bring it back... alittle.
No quick release mech, cleaning the inside of the shield is a half-*** job, unless you disassemble - i'm usually in a hurry or too lazy :)
Venting is OK. On a good hot summer day you will notice it.
Sheild sticks, at least mine does. When its down, ITs DOWN. I have a new one from Aerostich coming, $30 not bad for a sheild.
Boy racer feature:
Besides the sunshield looking jet piolet like - there is now a blue tinited "inner shield"... way cool... on the way from http://www.sporttouringusa.com/www/helmets-main.htm
Overall a good helmet for the price, starcom1's headset fits fine, flip-up works well, and theres an option to convert the helmet to 3/4 style. I'm not gonna do that tho. The helmet hasn't turned into the squeeky flimsy helmet I've seen other flip-up brands become.
I like it, but that S1 sure looks like a good helmet...

Tom de .... The S1 is not a flip-up, ... but I'm sure your already knew that. When I ordered my Schuberth C2 flip-up, the vendor accidentally shipped me an S1. Talking about a first class helmet - WOW! The thing fit like a glove. It made you fell like your head was in a separate world from the rest of your boby. I can only imagine how it would be riding with it. Obviously, I called them and returned it. If I was ever going to consider a full-face and, I had the coins .... the S1 is awesome.

I've had my Caberg since the beginning of summer and am really pleased with it. I bought it to replace a Nolan flipup that had problems with the visor hinge mechanism.
I wear glasses and am especially happy with the built-in sunshield - no more stopping to change glasses! You can even see and read the GPS thru the sunshield, but be wary of using both sunglasses and the shield - double polarization makes for some really weird effects...

I will be interested to hear how you get on with the Autocom headset fitting and how it goes when you are riding. Would like to know if they fit well and if they hurt your ears etc.
The Caberg is widely used over here, but I have always used the Xlite as it suited me for years. The Caberg is a little cheaper than the Xlite, so would like to hear reports with Autocom units fitted.

Hmmm - I have had one of these helmets for a couple of years now and though I would agree that the sun visor is a great idea and the airflow is OK, I have a few grumbles:
1. Helmet is very noisy when compared to my old Shoei XR800 - I've been looking at comments on web and there are two distinct camps - the "really noisy" one and "really quite" one. Just type in "Caberg Justissimo Review" into google to see what I mean. I think this is due to head shape; it is more suitable for oval than "earth shaped" heads. I'm an earth shape and had to max the size of helmet XXL (63-64) to stop my chin ramming up against the inside of the chin-guard. I always wear earplugs with it, even to go 10 miles, otherwise my ears are ringing - not a good sign!
2. There is no removable liner. I sweat quite freely and despite its sanitized liner, it stunk up quite quickly during the summer. Air flow is good but not good enough for me (I need aircon really!)
3. The vent cover at the top snapped off after a year's use. Just going along at about 70 and reached up to open it up a bit and snap - it flew off down the road. Never bothered to find it or replace it as I was fed up with helmet's noise and looking for a replacement flip - getting a Schuberth C2 for my Xmas - lucky me :-)
Another annoying thing about the Caberg was that when you washed visor it tended to stick against the seal - enough to prevent it being lifted with one gloved hand. Found this was because soft rubber top seal became sticky when damp - solution, a little spray of polish on it and a quick rub over when I'm applying polish to outside of visor. (This is a good tip to make light rain fly off visor at low speeds.) Anyway there was a workaround for this problem so this is nota biggie.
Anyway - just my 2c worth - the Caberg does have some good points - its just that the downsides outweigh upsides in my opinion.
Regards,
Harry.

This must have changed... I removed mine last night with no problems and can wash if needed. Thanks for your pointers on the sheild ;)

RE the Caberg helmets... I see that www.classiccruiser.com has another Caberg model, the J1 XILIX, that is much less expensive. As far as I can tell, the only difference is the lack of the flip-down sun visor. For $110 less, I can do without that. Am I missing something?
I fit the HJC and Nolan size Large. Do the Caberg run similar sizes and shapes?
sherob
12-30-2005, 07:21 AM
I have Symax and CL-Max as well as Scorpion and the Caberg. The Caberg seems more rounded than the HJC and Scorpion oval. Sizing seems to be the same for all. One thing I am noticing more now with the Caberg that I don't like is buffeting  I think I am finding this now since the temps are up to 70's and 80's and I'm running the windsheild lower  The Scorpion is smooth... no buffeting. At 80mph it isn't that bad... but pressing it with a little wind and you start to feel it and see it

Tom, was there plenty of room in the ear holes for the Starcom speakers? Bought a Starcom unit over the summer, installed it into my Shoei RF-1000 and wasn't very happy that there's no place for my ears anymore. Would like to find a helmet (preferably a flip-up) that has enough room for both my ears and the speakers. Never thought I'd want a flip-up till I bought the ST.

I have the HJC Symax (She Robs former helmet I think) and I have the Autocomm's speakers in the helmet. There is plenty of room for the speakers and my big ears:D
What I don't care for on the Symax is the lack of ventilation and the noise..Although Rob's last post about the Caberg's wind buffeting really has me confused on what the heck my next helmet will be...
Maybe the Nolan XLite...

Well I have followed this thread and you have made my mind up for me.
I was going to try one of the Cabergs but you have sure put me off with some of your reports, and that has saved me some money. I do like the flip down sun visor on them, but I will stay with Xlite's.
I have ridden with the Xlite for about 8 years and never had a problem. They are flip up, lockable insert for anti mist on the visor, nice cut out sections for the intercom speakers, very comfortable and reasonably quiet, so I think I will be staying put.
Thanks for the comments through the thread.

I have no idea what oval vs earth shape means, but the chin to chin-guard is my concern. When I picked up my Fulmer, it was because I had chin discomfort with all the other flip-ups I tried, which were most of them except the really high end stuff. The other stuff like wind noise can't be any worse than on the Fulmer, so would love to have the sun shield. Got caught in the dark this week and it started raining, and I had left my clear shield at home, couldn't see a dang thing. Only 20 minutes to get home, but that was a very long 20 minutes, so read this thread with a whole different perspective. Any chance anyone here has had both the Fulmer and the Caberg and can comment on the fit characteristics between the two?

Ah, obviously you haven't heard of vice president Blair's latest parliamentary study group then :D
Just to bring this thread slightly back on topic, I've also followed it with interest. I have no idea if I have an oval or earth shaped head although looking in a mirror I would describe it as oval and I'm pretty sure it's not a trick mirror :) At the bike show earlier this year I tried both the Caberg and Schuberth flip front helmets because I really like the idea of the flip front and I was really disappointed to find neither gave a good fit. My current Shoei Raid II fits like a glove and squeezes all the right bits :) but both flip fronts were either too tight and pinching my forehead or too loose all round. Shame. If there's any other helmet with a flip front and integrated drop down sun visor I should be trying, please let me know.

1. I'll agree the Caberg is louder than my old Shoie, but not as loud as my KBC VR-1. But the KBC is lighter... And the KBC got louder after I got the ST... airflow?
2. You must have an older model. I've taken the liner out many times (speaker installs, washing).

I didn't think about a flip-up till the ST also :D . But I'll say there isn't alot of room. But I put the speakers behind my ears, and after a while there has been some break-in ( speakers pushing into the foam ... maybe ).
With that, I know an Iron-butter who had no problem whatsoever cutting out foam from his Nolan to fit his autocom speakers.
YMMV,
