I'm planning to install an XM Roady over the holidays...have already ordered the necessary cableing to hook it into the quartet harness, XSORee Key, brackets, etc. I had planned to go with the Roady2 since I have connections with XM (get 'em for free!), but the warehouse is currently out of stock.
Does anyone have a Roady XT and can you tell me if it mounts similiarly (same bracket?) and does it use the same input connections as the Roady2?

The new roady XT has the antenna, power, and audio plugs on the mounting bracket. Al the plugs on the bracket look the same as the ones on the Roady2. The only difference I saw was the Roady2 runs on 6 volts and the new XT runs on 5 volts. The Roady XT will be easier to remove and store to prevent theft since the plugs are in the mounting bracket. Hope this helps you decide!:)

Since I've already ordered the adapters to convert the power from 12v to 6v I guess I need to go the the Roady2....hmmmmmm.

Anyone know if that new IsoKey version 2 is any good for the ROady 2?

Hey Gang...Paul raises a valid concern about the connections on the Roady2. Can anyone else attest to this being a problem? Obviously, if it occurs more than a couple times, its a problem!

So the next questions are: Is the XT really a 5-amp draw, rather than 6, and will the standard Roady Holder that mounts to the clutch or brake reservoir work with the XT?

Go with the XT. I am with the others that the jacks on the Roady 2 are junk. I have a Roady 2 for my wife as she keeps it in the car most of the time. We are on our second one because of a failed jack. If the XT would have been out at the time, I would have gone with that to replace the Roady. I use a Skyfi 2 with the cradle and move it between cradles 4 times a day. I have had it for a year now, and no problems.
The mounting holes on the Roady 2 and Skyfi cradle are the same. I have not seen the XT cradle yet, but would think they would be the same as the others for all the mounting hardware out there. I use the Skyfi on the bike and it works great.
I have had a 2 Roadies, a Roady2 and an XT. The reason for 2 Roadies the plug problem, I received the second one under warranty. The 2nd Roady failed, it would work in the car and in the garage but not on the bike. I think the bouncing on the bike was the problem. The Roady 2 works fine but it has the same potential problem with the plugs. I bought the XT and mouned it on the bike, the connectors plug into the cradle and the XT mounts on the cradle. The power supply connectors are not the same size, the XT is smaller. Evidently the statement about the different voltage is the reason.
I would not use the Roady on the bike, I would go with the XT.

The Roady XT cradle uses the same T-slot mount on the back as other XM radios. You can buy a plastic adapter from XMfanStore.com for about $4 and screw that to anything that would have recieved the roady or roady 2. In my case I fabricated my own bracket but with the adapter you could use a Ram or Tech mount instead.

I ordered the XT but found the knobs too small to operate. I replaced it w/ the Sky Fi2 and I am very pleased.
I'm also interested in the SkyFi unit, Louie. I'm comparing it to the XT but you have the upperhand being able to compare them in use. Have you discovered any other advantages or improvements from one over the other besides the knob size? Thanks in advance!

I've had the Roady2 since last June (9 months) and (Knock on wood) so far I have not had any problems with it. I move it often, too. I have antenea mounted on the bike:03biker: , in the truck:tat1: , in the garage:tools1: , and in my bedroom:a13: . I move it at least twice a day. I am careful about plugging and unplugging the plugs though, just because of the problems I've heard others having. Twist them at the same time as you pull em out and it seems to help. Just my .04¢(inflation)
Watch , now that I said this I'll start having problems.:o:

I have had the antenna connection problems with the roady2..
I commute to work and remove it and place back in everyday.
What I did was push out the little tabs on the make side and never had a problem since. At this point its cheap enough to be throw away if the problem persists.
