Member discounts are now available. Be sure to contact me via PM for ordering instructions before ordering, as I have had a few folks try to order directly from the site and not get the discount. Contrary to what you may have heard, these are solid steel bars whereas that of my competitors are hollow tube steel. Thus, the strength of these bars are much greater. That only matters, if you actually have to use them. All parts are made in the USA.

LOL...Spoke to your cousin the other day. Seems like a nice fella. I will be offering a civilian version of the front guards that will also allow access for mounting various accessories and/or hwy. wings. Sorry, but I was told by Lynn that I could just apply your cut toward his purchase of rear tip-over bars. lol

I'm just kidding of course, I wouldn't want to run you out of business!

I hate to beat the dead dog but I am and always will be a firm believer in this product. As most of you know the bars saved my:butt1: and my :bk11:

I consider it the first safety item you should put on an ST.

This is not a paid avertisement for the product, just a ringing endorsement .

(Ok Jay send me a copy of those secret photos of the front bars:D)

Thanks Bygdawg,
I picked em up on Saturday, put em on Saturday. They look really good, and well made. The included instructions were a nice touch.

I like the look too, not big and bulky looking.

Jay: they work!! --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I wish to add #130 way to drop your ST. Just undo the tie-down straps holding your new bike in place on the now lowered lift table as your wife/pillion watches. Nothing to it. Just release the one side ratchet mechanism, and watch your bike do the summersault the other way off the table. Guess what? The tip over bars I installed from bygdawg do as advertised. The bike landed on the front bumper, the rear tip-over bar and the right mirror. The glass shattered, plastic shell broke off one of the nubbs that hold the mirror assembly in place, already epoxied back together. Since I have to replace one mirror, why not replace both with the multivex mirrors. Ordered and on the way. Oh, well. Supposed to snow tonite and cold for next 10 days so probably wasn't test riding anyway. Wife is starting to have doubts about this bike touring thing. We haven't left the garage yet. Thanks again for the bars.

Crike! I cringed just reading that Corky, but I'm glad they saved your bags and possible other damage. Still, you never like to see the ol' girl go flailing over. Trust me. I've been there, done that, and bought the t-shirt. lol Hope the weather warms up for you before too long. When it does...

I was tossed between purchasing MCL or bygdawg as MCL were less money. I recieved my tip over bars today from bygdawg and I am impressed by the overall workmanship and finish on them. I guess who really needs a 1" big tube sticking out there like MCL. I'm am not saying MCL are not good but, these will do the job as confirmed by many and aslo look good. I really hope I don't have to use them.

bygdawg, have you made any tip over bars for a 08' FJR1300?

bygdawg
03-19-2010, 08:58 PM
Thanks guys. To answer your question Dave, I have not. I'm not sure about mounting locations on that particular bike. However, I do believe that it needs some due the lack of protection offered to the plastics on it. One drop with that bike on the wrong surface can cost some major change.

bygdawd, thought about branching out and looking at tip over bars for other MC's?,,,like FJR's? guess I'll have to use slidders for awhile, till someone comes up with some tipover bars.

I would need the bike to get the specs. Seems as though I did look at one a couple of times and didn't find an easy mounting location. Good luck in the search. If I can be of help, let me know.

Another strong positive endorsement of the BD TO Bars. Tested mine this weekend as I rolled my '1300 off the lift table :scared2:(....sideways instead of backwards...NOT Recommended!) and onto the garage floor. The roll from a 6" elevated table meant that my bike rolled over / onto the RH mirror, trashing the mirror cover/turn signal and I hit "something" which broke the lower cowling cover, as well....but the TO Bar kept the bike off the side case, saving it and my top box etc....

Currently working on concepts to mount a hydration jug to the bar...and perhaps a first aid kit / tool kit on the other side, using a welding rod holder or other such plastic container. Would be nice to have access to either of these kits on the road in case of accident. I don't ride with a pillion, so I'm not too concerned about adversely impacting access to the rear foot pegs.

Jay, I ordered a set of your tip over bars for the "just in case" scenarios and found them to be extremely well engineered. The thorough, yet concise, instruction sheet was great- the total install took approximately 10 minutes.

I'd rather have 'em and not need 'em... much better than needing 'em and not having 'em!

bygdawg

Agreed Scott. Here's hoping you never have to put them to the test. :capwin:

Hi Jay there is another thread going on about tip over bars.

http://www.st-owners.com/forums/showthread.php?t=86785

I remember seeing this one before and I wondered if the bars work on the ST1100? I have a 2001 model.

Thanks

Yet another endorsement got mine recently. They are well made, a breeze to install, look good and give me some peace of mind about the next inevitable gravity actuated event.

Maybe...If I can get my photographer buddy to help out with that. It's so linear, I'm not sure it can be done at this point. Of course, it comes on fast once you twist the throttle, but it really doesn't have that throttle snatch that I liked about the ST.

09-01-2010, 10:01 AM
bygawg, you should have gotten a FJR if you like that throttle snatch,,hahah
