Hey guys-
I've been reading the posts on this forum for a while now as I'm in the market for a used ST, but just joined as a member. I've already posted a classified and have gotten replies. You guys are awesome. I'm located in the Chicagoland area. Southern subarbs. Been riding a 2003 VTX1300S for a year now and looking to get a more long distance rider. VTX is fun, but a little rough on long rides. So, if you know of any used 03-04 in the Chicago area, let me know!

Welcome!
My Son-In-Law has a VTX1300 and loves it. My buddy has an 1800, and we ride central Massachusetts together often. Nice bike.
Don't discount bikes outside of the Chicago area. It IS a sport-TOURING bike, after all. And a good one at that! You've just got to watch the weather bringing it home.
When it gets warm again, look for ST rides in your area. The folks here are great, and it seems to me that we all have the same riding style, more or less.

After lurking and you still want to be here  Welcome to the miles of :) club! Go ahead and start working on those smiles now... your face is going to get a work out when you finally get your STeed ;)
Welcome to our forum. My wife rides a VTX 1300R, and loves it. Good luck in your quest to find you one of the best bikes ever assembled.
For the long rides you will need something other than the stock seat. You might be disappointed on long rides otherwise as I was.
Welcome aboard! I had an 03 VTX1300S. Was a nice bike but I love the ST and even with the stock seat it's an all day rider, at least for me.

We are all quite honest, fair, and totally objective in our appraisal of the BEST SPORT TOURING motorcycle in the world... for sure! (Oh, yes we are! Aren't we?) I'm riding my FOURTH ST now, so I must be a little bit biased. OK... I am BIASED!
I'm one of those for whom the stock seat is NOT satisfactory, but I am not a Corbin fan either. The foam Corbin uses is simply TOO BLOODY HARD for me, especially in the "Dual Canyon" sport seat. I don't know about the "solo" or front seat only for the ST1300. I'd like to try one.
ST1100 can now be fitted with a 2 piece saddle, ST1300 comes with a 2 pieced saddle.
It depends on your body build, leg length, arm length, weight distribution... a LOT goes into the right saddle for those long days.
Speaking of LONG days, I've got 10 days in excess of 1K mi on GoldWing and 5 days in excess of 1K on ST1100... all of these were on saddles I BUILT FOR MYSELF using the stock saddle as a starting point.
Read ALL the boards, join the ST e-mail list, ask every question you can think of... The only STUPID questions are those you don't ask.
STRIDERS are a (patting us all on the back, m'lads and lasses) a GREAT BUNCH... Or, I'd not have been still hanging around... note the 3 digit STOC number for a hint of my antiquity.

I know there's a few Chicagoland people on the board so hopefully they will help you out. I have seen a couple 03 non-abs ST's in the Milwaukee area but haven't look in a while.
Sportland 2 in Oak Creek, WI had one for a while and Southeast Sales north of Milwaukee had one also. If you're willing to travel to the land of cheese and beer you might find one at those places.
Also this summer Vetesnik Motor Sports in Richland Center, WI had an 04. Not sure if it had ABS or not though. They are the largest Honda seller in the state and they now also own Mad City Motorsports in Madison, WI.
Thought I would post what I have seen in case you need to look outside your area. I would be surprised though if you couldn't find something closer, but just in case there's a few other places to check.

Thanks guys. You have already been a big help. I'll be looking around the Chi-town area, and willing to travel a little. I go to college in the Quad Cities, so around there and more is a good search radius for me. Thanks for all your help thus far, and keep your eyes open for me!
Happy Holidays!
