Mine was just under 180 on a Kawasaki ZX9. Also cruised for about 30-45 mins at around 150-160 on an Autobhan from Luxembourg into Germany, but I kept getting overtaken by Porsches & Mercedes !

135 on an '84 GPz 750 up I-95 between Jacskonville and Daytona.
High 160's for sure, may have topped into low 170's on my old Duc., not sure.
Fast enough.
The ST11 like 100-120 a lot, the 13 less so, maybe cause of the xtra luggage... I'm a pretty happy camper around 90 these days.

135 indicated 97 ST1100 on Interstate 10 in far WEST Texas.... miles and miles of miles and miles.... Speed UNINTENTIONAL... slowed to 80 felt like I needed to get off and push... Lesson learned: On an ST, PAY ATTENTION to the gages..... Desert boredom, endless horizon, sage brush, cactus, sand and NOTHING ELSE.... no vehicles in sight either direxion on the slab... got to watching the desert slide by... next instrument scan.. Instant FEAR... even faster slow down.... "Dang," I thought "I've got to pay attention... this thing is SNEAKY fast....." Yah... I know Mike Looby in GeorgeTown, TX says his blue 04 is "Faster than STINK." That "Arrest Me Red" 97 was no speed slouch either.

What is the top speed on the ST1300? I realize different conditions will give you different speeds and I've seen different numbers in the mags.

One sixty - "oh my god" something  on a CBR1100XX black bird at Button Willow Raceway when it first came out. Verified by Stalker radar. Started running out of track and scared myself good when I realized how long it takes to scrub that kind of speed off. That bike had Honda's first combined braking system (not counting the more simplistic system previously fitted to Gold Wings) and I was very glad of it at that moment, even if that 1st gen version was a bit grabby.

143 MPH on a bone stock 97 Bandit 1200S on my way from McP to Pete's Puddle two summers ago... Central Kansas, so no hill factor. I think with a liitle sprocket/gearing mod I could get to 150.
ST only up to 115 MPH, conditions weren't right for a "Top End" run. Moving to Billings next week so when the Spring Thaw comes around I'll be ready for a good test. Anyone know what month the Spring Thaw starts in Montana???

160 indicated on a Kawasaki CSR 650 - probably about 140 actual. On I-25 between Las Vegas, NM and Santa Fe, NM. August 8th or so, 1988. The girl I was giving a ride to kept saying "can we go any faster? I finally decided that I had gone as fast as I ever wanted to on a public highway. I then backed off and suggested where and how we could go faster... :o:
On my ST1300 (RIP), I was up to 135 sometime in mid-July, following my busa-riding buddy across the Daniel Boone bridge on I-64 in Chesterfield, MO. That was faster than I ever plan to take a motorcycle again. Heck - I crashed at 35mph and I'm still hurting a month later. :p

135 indicated on a 1993 CBR1000F Hurricane somewhere in the middle of Ohio in the summer of 1994. It was still pulling strong, but I was running out of straight road. When I got off the throttle, I quickly and mindlessly raised out of my tuck position and almost got ripped off the bike by the wind. That's a feeling I'll never forget. Interestingly, my buddy was trailing me on his 1991 ST (black), a bike he still owns.

160 indicated on an fj600 freaked the guys out i was riding with because of all the tire smoke as i went by.... on further inspection either the air pressure pushed the fender into the front tire or the tire grew that much but it burned a real nice line into the front fender from the inside and ruined the paint! only had the st to 110 so far it was enough to see there was alot more!

I still have a "Good Healthy Fear" of motorcycling. I regularly read David Hough's More Proficient Motorcycling that helps to keep me in check. For those of you that scuba dive on this board that book is the equivalent of the "Lessons for Life" in Scuba Diving magazine. For those that don't dive "Lessons for Life" are real life examples of errors that people have experienced by not following the rules that resulted in injury up to death.
The ST is as fast as I have ever gone. Maybe 120 by the speedo. But I didn't stay there.
The guy in the pic is a character named Rollie Free. He is the first human to break 150 mph on a motorcycle back on 9/13/1948 (I wasn't even a zygote). Rollie made several runs that day on the seat and the best he could get was 148-149 mph. So as the pic shows he stripped to a bathing suit, took the seat off to lay on the fender and rolled that bike up to 150.313 mph.

I am guessing around 175 on my ZX11 out in West Texas. The Speedo was indicating between 195 and 200. My sigma, which I didn't have at the time, shows that typically the bike speedo reads 10% high.

As fast as the bike would go in safety!
During my career as a Motorcycle Cop here in the UK, to get to ride a Police Bike, you have to attend a number of Police Courses. Before you get onto the bike courses, you have had to go through all of the advanced car courses first, and I thought those were scary!
Bear in mind, all Police Coures here in the UK are done on the public roads, so you have to contend with all hazards including Mr and Mrs Sunday driver. And YES, Police driver training courses are exempt from our National speed limits of 60 MPH on normal roads and 70MPH on dual carrigeways and Motorways.
First course was a Standard Bike course. Get used to the Police System of riding, get your observations up and speed restrictions of 80MPH on the lead rider, and that was on a Kwaka 500cc Bearing in mind, if the lead rider takes some quick overtakes, the tail end Charlie is riding on the limit to keep up!
Intermediate Course, duration of 3 weeks. Get pushed up to the big guys, well to me they were. BMW K1100LT, fully loaded with gear. Speed restriction on lead rider of 100MPH. Again, this means if you are tail end Charlie, the speed to catch up is much higher.
Advanced Course, no speed restriction on lead rider, if you can do 150MPH in safety, why the kin hell are you not doing it! Training bikes consisted of the BMW K1100LT, Honda ST1100 (No 1300's at that time) and a Triumph Trophy 1200.
It was on the advanced course that I had my brain removed.
I can remember vividly being the lead rider on the advanced course going through the hills and valleys of the Slate Mines in South Wales. We stopped for a coffee and I had go check see about the brown stains in the underwear. Got back to the table and instructor asked "Did you see that blonde in the Mazda as we came across that last peak"?
My reply was " I was toooo **** scared of taking my eyes off the road to be bothered about some luvely in a bloomin Mazda. This is crazy!"
To come to the point, I have ridden as fast as the bike I was riding could carry me. Once I got the experience of riding fast, or you might say flat out! It did start to come to me that I could see the blonde luverly in the Mazda, it was just about experience and observations.
Fastest I have been is about 160 on the Triumph Trophy, 130 on the BMW K1100LT and on the Bmer, the whole damn lot was shaking, fairing wheels and so on. Blue lights and sirens are no good at that speed and no room for mistakes.
Since retiring, I look back and say :bow1: Thankyou God for getting me through those 9 years of my career. I am now retired and can ease off on the throttle and enjoy riding.
Just thought I would append my thoughts on the topic. Anyone can ride fast in a straight line, the skill comes out when you get on the curves and the nicer biking roads.
Live long and prosper, speed has no longer got a place here, but I can still put the Sports Bike Rider in their place if I put my mind to it. They still wonder where the BOF (boring old Fart) St rider is as they pass me. It puts them in their place when I ride alongside them on a bend, their arse hanging off the seat and knee down, but when I ride alongside them and offer them a sweety, does their ego deflate.
That is so much more sattifying than any speed you want to ride at!

It is just practice LOL
We were out one day, just chilling, me and my oppo were riding down to collect wide load to escort. You can imagine the enthusiasm we had about it. Wide Loads were one of our jobs, to escort them from one place to the other etc.
I ride alongside Sean (my oppo) speed was about 40 MPH, nothing drastic, we were just chilling on the way to pick up the load. We lift the flip up section of crappy BMW system 3 helmets and start chatting. I take the gloves off and into the pocket and hand Sean a toffee. We ride alongside each other unwrapping the toffee thinking nothing of it.
2 hours later, call on the radio, can you contact the control room as soon as possible by landline.
Shiiiite, what have we done now we think. Into the office and make the call. Gaffer on the other end..."We have just had a call from a motorist that saw you going down to pick up the last load you escorted"
"Not another blooomin complaint?"
"Nope, this call from the driver was amazed to see two Motorcycle Cops riding alongside each other handing out and chewing toffees. He was admiring you and thought how cool you looked"
Makes a change LOL
Maybe there should be a forum specifically for bike stories as it is easy to go off the thread of the subject!

Was that your speed THROUGH turn 1?
??? It was all I could do to actually see the speedometer at the end of the straight. Then you have to brake fairly hard at that speed before the ugly transition from the banking to the infield. I love turn 1 though, as soon as the suspension settles from the transition you can lay it over and drag a knee for a long time at high speed. Quite a rush. I've done TWS now on a bunch of bikes; Ducati 900SS, ZX-9R, TL1000S, TL1000R, GSXR1000 and a ZX-6R. Lots of fun. And all but one of those days were free!

On the St 1300 at Pocono Raceway I hung on for dear life at about 135 mph indicated (121 mph GPS). That is not near as fast as most of you guys but it is as fast as I will probably ever ride. Here on New Jersey roads and in New Jersey traffic, half of that pace is a challenge in itself.

Back in 83 on my V65 Magna. I was with a group of friends and we were on our way to see Return of the Jedi. I had vowed not to open my bike up until it was broken in (600 miles according to Honda). A guy I rode with a lot was with us and he was on his GS1100. He had been hounding me to line mine up against his. As we came out of Simsboro, the road turned and flattened out into Tremont Bottom. This was a good 2 mile completely straight bottom on Hwy 80. My odometer was showing just over 600 miles. I looked over at my buddy on his 1100 and he was grinning and goosing his bike, so I dropped down a couple of gears and opened her up.
We were running about 50ish coming out town and that quickly changed. We were neck and neck in fifth gear almost completely wound out (around 140 I believe), and I could see him out of the corner of my eye. Throughout the race I could see him edge forward, then one of us would shift and the positions would change. Then he just disappeared. I rolled off the throttle and picked my head up as the wind hit me in the chest. I could see him in my mirrors and smoke was boiling out from under his bike. He coasted his bike over to the side of the road. And we all met up where it came to rest. He had blown his clutch up in his brand new 1100. He was extremely lucky to have survived the ordeal.
It was funny. He was kind of our leader when it came to riding bikes, and he had to catch a ride on the back of one of our bikes to go and get his truck. We loaded up his bike and headed on to catch a later show. He had to ride around town in his truck while the other 3 or 4 of us were on our bikes. He caught a lot of flack over that.
I remember in the Jedi movie when they were in the big trees and riding some of those speeder bikes or whatever they were. I looked over at him and just made a motion of rolling on the throttle and grinned real big. He just shook his head.
Good times. Remember it like it was yesterday.

You are all insane. Still, I am not worthy to be here. I hang my head in Sthame after comparing my top speed to all the rest.
Frankly, I enjoy the ST so much at speeds between 0-100mph that going faster doesn't occur to me. I was however amazed at how completely relaxed, comfy and stable my ST seemed @ 105mph on the open highway. In Arizona or Wyoming (or some other such place with wide open spaces and fewer deer issues) I could have sat back and cruised @ that speed all day long. Amazing.

175 (speedo) Two-up on my CBR1100XX, on an empty well known UK motorway very early one Sunday morning on the way to Brands Hatch a couple of years ago.
145 (GPS) two-up on the ST, it only felt like 100, rock solid.

135+ on my V65 Sabre, and it wasn't even near done pulling.
I'm not really much for running fast anymore, just like the feel of power running through the gears.
Wrecked my '87 MR-2(Cage) running 145+ on a curvy country road, when I was young and stupid. I guess surviving something like that helps put your priorities in line.
Stay safe

My top speed on a bike was on an ST1300 in 2005 while on the Nürburgring (http://www.nuerburgring.de/home/index.html?L=1) ... 237km/h (147mph) and I backed off...
Here at home it would be 160km/h (100mph) and I was pulled over on the 401 outside Woodstock Ontario...

:-) Just a question if you don't mind.....meassured top speed for this model is about 145mph.....how did you get your to go that fast
Bike Horsepower @ RPMVFR800 97.8 @ 10250 VFR750 91.2 @ 9750 VTR1000 101.8 @ 8750 The Lady in Red
The Honda VFR750F, a.k.a. "The Interceptor" (1994 -1997)
This bike is essentially one of Honda's finest efforts. It is the product of decades of race track experience. When I ride it, the only imperfection on the bike is me, the rider! It's that noticeable too because unlike the cruiser I sold to get this bike, I don't just sit on the bike, I become part of it. The handling is best described in terms of hand to eye coordination; you look, it turns. Combine that with this much horsepower and it's probably the closest I'll ever come to flying a fighter jet! I guess that begins to explain why this bike has won Cycle World's Best 750 Street bike award 10 yrs. in a row! http://www.dunthor.com/dd/images/vfr750f_ride_mag.jpg

In 1998 on a 1997 Honda CBR1100xx - 160+ mph as indicated. It was a rush to do it once, but I would never do that again.
Texas
Open roads back in Oklahoma I hit 189 indicated on my R1 (never do that again). On the track probably hit 150 to 160 quite a few times, on the ST I think I've topped out at about 90mph.

148 MPH using the Garmin 2720 as the speedometer....on the ST 1300 '05. I was just about at the red line....well, maybe it was on the red line. Conditions wouldn't let me squeeze another MPH out of her...and they were about as good as conditions get.

OK..
on the way to Moonshine this year...
We were rolling along about 80mph. coming out of Indi.
I was following a friend on a Sportster. He opened it up to pass some trucks and slower moving cages and I cracked 'er open to follow, I passed em all then happened to look down to see 130-135mph indicated on the ST speedO.
Surprised , I rolled off it and let my bud on the Sportster catch up...
He later expressed his surprise at the swiftness of the ST. I just smiled and nodded. :D
