Here is a picture of the 2610 after assembly into the touratech. The last picture shows the touratech mounted on the ram ball where my Street Pilot was. This Touratech product is made in Germany and it is of outstanding quality. I Highly recommend it. Will post more pics soon...

Its the second time I deal w/ www.cycoactive.com and they are amazing

I'm waiting for my custom chord from powerlet.

Thanks Curt, Micky, etc. etc. etc.

I have also got the Touratech mount.

I bought it some time ago for the ST1100, and I mounted it on the right hand brake reservoir bolts. Not a problem, the unit is well made and of course, lockable, if you go to that extreme which I think is worth it. Okay, it is expensive but so is the Garmin unit, so it is worth the extra for piece of mind.

I changed the bike from the 1100 to the 1300, and that came with a Garmin set up and mount, so the Touratech was surplass to my requirements. Would I sell the Touratech unit, not at this moment. I may change the mounting set up in time and the Touratech unit would play a big part in the re-mounting should I go in that direction.

An excellent piece of kit and well worth the extra dollars.

Yes indeed Mick!...You can see the keys in the middle picture. The quality of this Touratech is almost like a fine swiss watch!

Like you say, the Rolls Royce of GPS mounts!

You can adjust the angle of the GPS and the Touratech mount, I am not sure how close the shelf you are talking about and the actual GPS you are mounting. Also, is this on the ST1100 or the 1300 you are talking about?

The 1100 set up was great when in situ on the brake reservoir mounts, but I did not have the shelf fitted.

I looked at the mount on the 1300 and it would sit fine on the brake reservoir pins, but there may have been a problem on the 1300 if I mounted it on the forward position by the screen

5924 This is what the system looks like at the moment, but it is on a standard mount off the dashboard. If I replaced the mounting with the Touratech, I would have to adjust the angles for the electric screen on the 1300 but I feel sure it would work okay.

The other way of course is to set up the ram mounting system.

I made a custom bracket for the brake reservoir and removed the shock absorbers from the Touratech. It works really well in this location as it high enough to view at a glance and doesn't block the indicator lights or mirror.

That is exactly how I had the Touratech set up on the St1100, I did not have to adjust the bolts or mountings, I just changed them over to the ones supplied by Touratech, and mounted it on the reservoir bolts.

I have no experience with the dash shelves as they are not readily available here in the UK.

When I got the 1300, the GPS was already mounted, and I am happy with it, but I did look back to the point if I wanted to mount the Touratech system, I would look at mounting it again on the brake reservoir.

I feel sure, that when set up with the 'Dash' shelf, the system could be mounted on it, without causing problems to the electric screen.

The instructions on the Touratech says there is a pointer that can be used on the touch screen. I believe I see it but am not sure how to remove it. Its the black pencil type device in back.

Easy

Just give it a tug. Hold the pencil with your right forfinger etc, and then pull. It does show some resistance, but that is because of the rubber mountings it sits on. Replacement is the same as removing. It is probably the rubbers that hold the pencil in situ that is putting you off, just give it a strong tug to the right, and it will come out.

I put mine on the left, used my clutch mounts, bought a tour-tech mount suposed to fit, it hit the handgrip couldn't be used, I built my own for $2.50 and a litle welding, how do you do the touch screen when it's on the right? I'll figure how to do a pic as soon as my son gets home.

When running, I dont normally have to touch the screen. I feed the route in before I move off, and then I run with the speed indicator showing rather than the map. As you know, the 'Pop Up' shows when approaching a turn and then back to the speed read out.

If I do have to touch the screen, I just use the left hand, if I have to do anything complicated, I stop.

Any problems with gauges/mirrors being obstructed in your vision. Seems like it would?

Not at all. However, once I actually install the wiring I will have a better idea.

Not sure on the 1300, I have a different mount set up

But on the 1100, with it mounted on the clutch reservoir, it blocked the view to the clock and I had to move my head a little to check the time. Apart from that, mounting was fine.

It works well on the right side as I am right handed.

I either use it while at rest or set the electronic cruise control. If I can't take my hand off the throttle, I shouldn't be pushing buttons, etc.

As to visibility w/ the current setup, no problem w/ steering. However, while riding it obstructs a small part of the speedometer but its a matter of adjusting to it.

Here is a picture of the adjusted 2610. As you can see, there is no interference w/ steering or instruments.

The train is full of shipping containers from Hong Kong and its headed to Blythe or Barstow, and then all over the US!

I see you recomend the locking Touratech Mount, but is the ball mount and ram not just tightened up with a hand operated screw???:shrug2: :shrug2: :shrug2: :shrug2:

Curt. I got the cable you recommended for the 2610. Its the powerlet PPC03. Its perfect.

Thanks again for guiding me in the right direction.

ok...Yes but this makes it more "secure" because you can lock it!
