Hi all

Newbie here - be gentle with me!

My main bike is a CBR1100XX (Blackbird) but I've always fancied a Pan to do my longer distance commuting. I bought an old Pan about a month ago from a dealer and I've got a couple of problems with it.

After riding it for about 5-10 minutes, it feels as if it's running on 2 or 3 cylinders. I've only just had this problem.

The other problem, is when I'm riding in heavy traffic, the clutch gradually loses its ability to disengage the engine and the clutch lever basically has no resistance. I've taken it back to the dealer for the clutch problem but they say they can find no fault.

Any ideas?

Thanks

Cliff

Sorry, Cliff, can't help you with the ST1100 question but I can welcome you to the group. When you get a chance, introduce yourself in another post. Glad to see you on and hope you get some answers to your question. I'm sure you will.

Welcome!

Have you checked if it is running on 2 or 3 cylinders? (only 1/2 joking).
Pull the spark plug wires on at a time and see if the symptoms change....

What color is the brake fluid?
What oil is in the bike? I don't know what 'grades of oil' you have across the pond so I can't make a specific recommendation; however, you should make sure the dealer didn't put *energy conserving* oil in the bike... I would ask them how much Moly (can't spell the rest of the word! :-) ) is in the current oil...
If there is Moly in the oil you'll have to flush a couple of times to get it out (hopefully it comes out).

Good luck,
Mark
