I just purchased from a friend who didn't want to pay the $12.95 monthly fee a Sirius Satellite radio called "Starmate Replay." Does anyone know if this will work on the ST1300 or any motorcycle? I'm still new to the satellite radio fab. Do I need a receiver with this kit or can I install this thing onto my Autocom system directly? From the looks of it, I can power it using the 12v adapter it came with.

Thanks,
Gerry

The Replay has a line out that you can run to your Autocom, so it should plug and play just fine with the music lead. You'll probably need a ground isolator if you're running both on bike power.

The only thing you may find a problem is that most of the Sirius and XM receivers don't have any way to adjust the volume level because they assume you'll be listening to it on your car stereo, which does. In the few outings I've done with my GPS/MP3, I've found this not to be a big deal; I set the volume up about midway and the Autocom seems to do just fine with it. The only two Sirius models I know of that have any sort of volume control are the original Starmate and the Brix Streamer GT, both of which are essentially the same radio and have been discontinued. Some Rat Shacks have the original Starmate for $40 with a $10 mail-in rebate.

I have the Starmate on my 04 1300 and it works fine. The unit has an adjustable output on the right side of the unit so you can plug it into your autocom set the Starmate at about 1/2 to 3/4 volume and then adjust the autocom to a comfortable listening level. Now you can make adjustments to the music volume with the buttons on the Starmate to compensate for road noise etc. I run mine through a Mix-it2 amp and it works great. The best place I found to mount the antenna for the strongest signal was on top of the dash. Enjoy it.

Dave,

Did you use the mounts that came with the STarmate? If so, did you do anything special to make sure it doesn't fly off at speed? If not, what mounting system did you use and where/who did you obtain the mounts from?

Thanks,
Gerry

This is mounted with the Sirius mount and works great. I just pulled the part off the original suction cup mount that attaches to the reciever and bolted it to the top dash cover. I since have moved the antena from ontop of the radar detector to the top dash just in front of the Sirius reciever.

Sorry it took so long to get back to you as I was out of town. I purchased the mount from cycle gadgets.com. Get the one for the XM Roady since the mounting holes are identical, no drilling will be required. The mount attaches to the the top of your clutch or brake reservoir. Remove the tab from the back of the Starmate mount (single screw) and then mount the Starmate backing plate to the mounting bracket from cycle gadgets.com with the 4 screws provided in the package. The Starmate slides and clips into the plastic backing plate. Very easy to remove for security but it will not come off while riding. I am very happy with the setup. PM me if you need more info.
